Why is it that this ai-style empty shell response is exactly what I was expecting?!
Making a feature accessible doesn't qualify as "expanding the feature". It is little snippet of a code that you include with landers, homepage, dashboard etc. and it is a common sense. And common sense path is the least probable path to follow by GD.
E.g. the boost has been complete failure judging by the adoption rate (around 10-15% of all names judging by the polls on forums and groups), it also has led to lots of people abandoning AN and its landers or planning for it, yet GD keeps insisting on keeping it as is.
Thanks, Recons. It's more involved than a snippet of code, but the feedback is appreciated.
I have a question, guys.
If I pick the BIN landers from Afternic settings, will my names with DAN/undeveloped nameservers resolve to the Afternic BIN lander without having to switch nameservers?
And second, what does the BIN lander show when the name has no BIN?
Thank you in advance
Hi
@polymorph
If you've migrated over from Dan.com to Afternic, any names that are currently pointing to Dan nameservers and are migrated, will show the Custom Lander. For Dan.com names that were using the Request Price lander, they'll transition over to Afternic's Request Price lander.
Is it in your plan to add settings for afternic lander to enable Integrating with google analytics ??
i find it important and very helpful tools .
@GoDaddy
.
Thanks for the question,
@love4ever, this isn't in the plans, ensuring that we're complying with privacy requirements. We do have in-built views, which will continue to be developed - views are now backdated 6 months for individual domains through
https://www.afternic.com/domains/[insertdomainhere]/details?view=statistics
Atom (498 names parked), Efty (522 names parked), Namepros (294 names parked) Afternic (148 names parked). Afternic as you can see has become my least trusted parking source. They've lost my trust. I have 61 pages of the domains sold at Afternic, and yet I no longer trust that people are able to buy my domains there because they're not visible anymore. I know there will be a hiccup with their self brokerage, either another delay, or it will not work as intended so I'm about 90% out.
We're sorry to hear that,
@End User King. Please DM us if there's anything we can help out with.
@GoDaddy
Why GD/AN cannot still sort out the shopping cart issues?
Besides the reported issue of having to wait 20-60 seconds for it to load, I am regularly getting bunch of other issues like a) white page instead of payment confirmation; b) you did everything right, but something went wrong error c) we cannot process the transaction at this time
I can only imagine what percentage of our sales are lost due to these.

I have struggled for a while to complete auction purchase. And after that I am now stuck trying to renew my domains. Can you imagine someone trying to buy a $3000 domain purchase on impulse?? He gets an error like that, he is most probably like "oh well, it is not meant to be" or "I'll do it later".

We don't want to stray off topic here since the thread is predominantly discussing Afternic (yes, there's an overlap). But we'll make sure your rep is aware of those issues you described. The renewal issue you posted was related to a brief GoDaddy cart problem that was identified and fixed very quickly.
As this is a holiday long-weekend in Canada (for Thanksgiving) it brought to mind another huge issue I have with Afternic.
That virtually nothing happens on the weekend.
Since we're at the mercy of brokers who work a regular business week, the weekends are simply lost days at Afternic, while I have negotiated and closed many deals at Dan on the weekends, including some very lucrative ones. My second-last sale on Dan was finalized on September 28, the Danbot took care of the rest, and I was paid on October 1.
No way you can accomplish that on Afternic.
As you are/were your own broker at Dan, if you wanted to work 7 days a week then you could and sellers could get quick responses on Saturday and Sunday, but at Afternic, you are totally beholden to the brokers, so you're really losing 2 full days (or more on holidays) that to me, can translate into lost sales.
* And I should note that
this may not change even with a self-brokerage option, as I keep seeing notes that Afternic brokers will continue to receive and forward leads even under the proposed new system. So that could mean an offer or lead received on a weekend will not be in your Dashboard until the broker assigns it the next Monday/Tuesday, even if you selected self-brokerage.
This might be something for
@GoDaddy to clarify.
Appreciate the question
@DomainRecap. Many of our brokers do work weekends.
What I miss about my Dan's landers. When someone typed in my domain or found their way to my domain...it showed the domain for sale, along with some personal info such as my name.
It also showed a few other of my domains if you scolled down the lander and if the viewer clicked on any of those domains, it showed my entire portfolio. Also had my name and history of some of my sales. It made it more enticing for the potential buyer.
Also if they made an offer, it gave me the option to converse with the potential buyer. With afternic it's all left in the broker's hands, unless the buyer hits buy now. We really don't know what's going on behnd the scene.
With Dan I could check recently viewed domains. I don't see that option on GD/AN. I was having my best year ever until I moved all over to GD. Hoping for improvements after Oct 15, but not counting on it.
Thanks for the feedback,
@End Game. If a buyer makes an offer, it'll be visible to you through the Lead Center (afternic.com/leads) where one of our expert brokerage team will be qualifying and negotiating on that lead. You'll be able to track important updates there, and self-brokerage will be coming soon to give you an added option for handling Make Offer leads.
We brought over some of the best features from Dan.com (there's more to come), including the Custom Lander. The version that's live focuses the user on the action of purchasing your domain name, but there's room for experimentation in the long run.
Update.
Afternic Support today responded with:
"That being said, checking into the matter further, it appears that at the current time, the domain name has already been returned to an active status in the Afternic Premium Network."
However, in my Afternic Dashboard, the domain still has the On Hold status.
I am really going crazy to have to find and report all these kinds of bugs on a daily basis (just like other members). Why doesn't Afternic just offer an enjoyable and feature rich platform like DAN.COM had? A platform that just works. How long must the ping-pong with Afternic Support continue for the On Hold status to be lifted?
Could you DM us to confirm if you're still seeing names on hold? If you are, we'll escalate this to our engineering team.
Sorry if this has been discussed, but I did a self migration on 1100+++ names. All my names are at GoDaddy and NameBright, and the name server changes weren't difficult. What is puzzling is that I made sure all my names were camel case for better display on Dan, like DineSmart(.)com, but now at Afternic they are all lowercase, and I don't believe dinesmart looks as good as DineSmart. Plus, I had descriptions on 50+++ names...now they are missing.
I also had something happen today that has never happened before. I got a renewal email from GoDaddy for "finebiting .com" and I know that many of us with thousands of names forget sometimes what we own, but I knew for sure this wasn't mine. Thankfully I have an excellent VIP Manager and I forwarded to him and I'm sure I will hear from him tomorrow, Monday. Has this ever happened to anyone else? No offense to the owner, but I have no idea what it even means....not that I don't have names that are meaningless also!!!!!

Hi Fred,
Right now, CamelCasing is available on a per-name basis through your name's settings page (
https://www.afternic.com/domains/[insertdomainhere]/details?view=settings). Bulk will be coming soon through an updated CSV upload process.
For descriptions, our Custom Lander doesn't support these as we're focusing buyers on the single action of clicking the purchase button. As we said to
@End Game, there's room for experimentation and new features in the future.
Just a heads up for anyone migrating from Dan, something you might check - I had previously deleted all domains from Afternic as I preferred Dan and no longer trusted Fast Transfer. The domains all self-migrated from Dan promptly.... and some sent emails to enable fast transfer, but not all. ??? Guess what, fast transfer was enabled without my knowing, on XXX domains, probably due to earlier legacy listings in my Afternic account (which I thought were deleted). More interesting, or scary, was they revived listings on Afternic for domains I no longer own, and at least one of those showed fast transfer enabled. I deleted it at once, but who knows how many more there are like this, and what happens when a domain like that is sold and taken suddenly without warning from the new seller.
Afternic won't check or fix this, stuff like this is below the threshold where their cost/benefit analysis shows it is worth working on or fixing. Just not profitable for them and they don't care about reputation.
Hi
@carob, could you DM us with more information on this one?
