Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Impossible to contact the sinking ship? Contact form just gives error message, chat does not respond, contact page at https://help.afternic.com/contact says send email but has an email link with no email address in it.

Is there an actual list of which "partners" display/offer domains that have Fast Transfer enabled? Seems they are the Premium Network but can't see an actual list anywhere, just this: https://www.afternic.com/fast-transfer

Where do Premium Network listings appear?

Domain names get exposure through the Standard Network resellers, plus promotion on 8 out of the top 10 domain registrars in the world. This amounts to over 85 million monthly search queries from the largest domain reseller network in the world. Domain names must be enabled for Fast Transfer to be exposed on the Premium Network.

I don't know yet 100% but it is possible that if you migrated from Dan and did not changed the NS to Afternic ones, the lander will show at Dan and not resolve to Afternic, if you guys can check your domains to confirm, but this is what I found with some of mines.

Hopefully there will be an UI upgrade for the locked domains. They are accumulating on the main page because no auth code can be submitted right now, the communication with TA agent is not visible, the date when the transfer could be started is unknown on the interface, I don't know who will monitor this or what we are waiting for.

Or even better, some way to switch the delivery method to push somehow. @GoDaddy please improve the push experience. Similar issues for extensions where there is no auth code (.co.uk)

That's my big question in the Dan thread - when will the Dan nameservers be switched over to Afternic? Anyone remember when I brought this up multiple times to GD and was told "don't worry"? :cautious:

This is kind of a big deal if you actually want to sell domains...

@GoDaddy
I went and changed the NS to point to AN, will test until 2025 but if there will be no sales, I m out.

and if it's a LTO they just cancel it...

Why don't you switch them yourself?
That's what I did 2 weeks ago.
Plus added NS3 verification and only 15 domains went into review and were cleared in 1 day.

I also manually listed my domains instead of auto migration. That allowed me to keep CamelCasing.

Minimal issues.

That is the safe option. I'm told if you migrate to Afternic but then log into your Dan.com account to delete data, deleting the domains there which still are set to Dan nameservers means those domains will show a Dan page saying the domain has not yet been added to Dan - they will not resolve to Afternic landers any more. You might want to check that this has not happened to you.

Example.com is not properly configured

The owner of the domain name uses the name servers of Dan.com but has not yet added the name to their portfolio.

So if you retain dan nameservers possibly sooner or later your names that resolved to Afternic will not any longer.

Obviously if you have domains at multiple registrars updating DNS across the board is quite a task.

Because it's a helluva lot of manual work for a ton of domains at multiple registrars, and GD promised it would be done and "don't worry". Path of least resistance, and I'm hardly the only person affected by this.

I was planning on giving Afternic maybe a month to see if I can stand it, but if GD changed their mind, and the Dan NS won't even work going forward then I might as well roll up my sleeves and change the NS to NamePros without giving Afternic a trial run.

Exactly and people seem to think you've got 50-100 domains all sitting on GD or something.

I buy expired domains all over the place and to go and manually change the NS (and on only the ones I have for sale) is a lot of work, even with mass-update tools. In fact, I would call it a clerical nightmare.

Minimal issues.

Now try that with 5000 domains sitting at 27 registrars.

Maximal issues.

27? Really? Why?

I have 3 registrars with about 1200 domains.

I keep mine over 2K at about 6 registrars, at spaceship and sav was easy to bulk change the NS only at porkbun it does not accept the AN verify url for some reason as the 3rd ns.

That's probably not due to Porkbun but a TLD Registry that's doing pre-delegation checks.

Which TLD is it?

I have no issues setting any verification NS at Porkbun.

Many registrars have bulk NS update option. If 5000 domain names are not resolving at the moment, you have to fix it no matter what.

And please do not trust anything GD says. They're simply careless.

Transferring descriptions to Afternic wasn't a priority for us

About that... I bought a 4L from another investor for $1025 and asked him to use Afternic custom checkout link. He created the link and I clicked through and completed today. So, as it turns out, it is still doing it via Dan. It also is doing it in a weird way when I have to go through few pages of filling my info, card details etc and on those pages it doesn't show me what I am paying for, which made me nervous. I can imagine quite a few transactions not completing because of that.

How hard is it to have on every page that I am paying for ****.com domain?

@GoDaddy yes, it is just about adding little snippet of code there. Something like Transaction for <Domainname>.

It is a ccTLD, I have contacted support to look at it cause it began giving errors when I try set the NS again.

Thought so. Which ccTLD is it?

There's probably not much Porkbun can do on their end. It's Afternic that has to include the unique verification nameserver in their authoritative nameservers before the predelegation check by the ccTLD registry can be done successfully. If the check fails, you won't be able to use the unique verification nameserver for that ccTLD domain.

You can use TXT verification as an alternative method, though.
