The Dan platform with the reach of GD/AN is pretty much exactly what every domainer has asked for. Instead, many of us are now looking at competitors' landers because of the ongoing issues and lack of functionality with the AN platform.

Yeah, it doesn't really make any sense.

By not providing a viable option, they are driving customers to competitors. There is no shortage of good lander options out there.

When it comes to lander traffic, the Afternic distribution network doesn't even matter that much.

When I find a system I like, I tend to stay with it. @GoDaddy is forcing me to go out and find an alternative, as they don't provide the functionality I want.

Sure, they did provide it with Dan.com but that is going away without a suitable replacement, at least for the immediate future.

If I find a system I like, I am not sure how willing I am going to be to move back.

@Afternic How poor is the scroll layout in the All Domains page. Every time you arrive there one has to perfectly adjust the portfolio list window so that when you scroll down or up within the window especially when you hit the last domain in the list the entire page will move up obscuring the freeze pane of the portfolio window.

It's all office politics and Afternic has high-ranking supporters within GD with equity in the brand, while Dan is a European domain market they purchased for the sole reason of shutting it down. When a decision is made, there is no one present to champion Dan, so the Afternic suits win every battle.

It is an idiotic decision to shitcan Dan while keeping Afternic, but that's par for the course with GD.

That's because GD had a Ferrari (Dan) and then decided to cannibalize it by taking parts out to 'spruce up' their aging Yugo (Afternic), thus making the situation even worse.

The old Afternic was a turd, but it basically worked as intended, albeit with a low bar. By trying to polish this turd, all that GD accomplished was getting crap all over their hands.

@GoDaddy After negotiations stalled for a specific domain name, I removed the listing and moved it to my own lander outside of Afternic. Now I see that negotiations have started again. What happens if the buyer agrees to pay the previous listing price? Will Afternic demand the standard 15-25% or will it be a sale without commission for me as a seller?

I hope you don't mind me jumping in, but a similar thing happened to me and it was 25%. I changed nameservers and an old negotiation popped and I foolishly/greedily accepted it, then found out later when my payment was transferred. And I lost a nice chunk of change.

But I don't think you have to accept and transfer it since the domain is no longer on Afternic (confirm with GD), but if you do, the nameservers are checked the minute the broker gets an offer that fits somewhere between your Floor Price and your BIN on the negotiations. The Nameserver is ALWAYS King.

So unless you change the NS back right now, just to be sure, it could be flagged as 25% upon receipt of a valid offer. At that point you can't do anything to avoid the 25% other than saying 'No, the domain is no longer on Afternic' and getting $0.

It seems that payment for 2nd domain is marked as completed but I not received it, only an email like before.
I also see that it ask Tax Information, I not have company or anything like that, I not live in US, if GD ask me some docs I m out and you will never see me again, already paying 20% is a big tax to me.

@DomainRecap Thank you for sharing your experience. At least I've opted out of Boost so it would be 20% max.

But if I just say no, I think any serious buyer would visit the landing page and make an offer to me there. At least that's what I would do.

If your NS is not set at GD network, the commission rate is 25% without boost.

You're right. I was being too optimistic.

If the situation comes, I will just say no to the broker, and tell him I prefer 0% using my own lander. Since it's a five-figure domain, it would be surprising if the buyer didn't at least visit the URL and see my lander.

The rep I chatted with seemed eager to resolve the issue I reported, but we couldn’t move forward because they asked me to share a 2FA auth code for my Afternic account and I was hesitant to do so... And this was after I'd provided them with the support PIN that was sent to my email address.

Is it normal for Afternic’s live support reps to ask users for their 2FA auth codes?

And @GoDaddy, if it is, aren’t there more efficient and secure ways to grant authorized reps immediate access to accounts when verified users report issues?

Do not know if someone asked before, did not find something with search.

I have an old Afternic account with 2 payee accounts so it is ok, one paypal for sales <2k one bank account.
A friend opened a new for his company but can create only one payee account, is it changed? would be better to can add more for paypal and 1-2 bank accounts

Option 1: Visit https://www.afternic.com/contact --- Locate the chat widget on the bottom right corner of the page. When you hover over the widget, the following prompt appears: "Hello, have a question? Let's chat." --- Click the widget, fill the chat form, and start a conversation.

Option 2: Log in to your Afternic account and click the "Help Center" tab. On the Help Center page, click the "Contact Us" tab. This will direct you to https://www.afternic.com/contact. Follow the same steps outlined above.

@GoDaddy, please make the live chat feature better. It would help to have a conspicuous live chat widget, one everyone can EASILY SEE AND ACCESS without multiple clicks and navigation. And it would be great to have the widget be a constant fixture on all the pages or sections we visit --- the "Dashboard" page, the "All Domains" page, the "Lead Center" page, and others.

Making the widget carry through all the pages will help improve accessibility, reduce friction, convey a reassuring sense of constant support, etc.

See DAN for reference. Actually, can you guys just use DAN's live chat system, please? This would be mIgRaTiOn.

In total, I used Afternic with their NS settings for about three weeks. During that time, I managed to sell 8 domains through their platform, and one more sold via LTO. However, as of today (September 29, 2024), I’ve only received payment for 3 domains. The rest have long been transferred to Afternic, but I have not received any payments for them.

In case anyone is interested, I still haven't received any of these payments (for 6 domains, with some pending for over a month). I received an email asking me to, and I quote: 'review your payment method and update the nickname "Default Setup" in order to receive your payout.' I did this on October 3rd, informing Afternic and providing an alternative payment account, even though I had no issues with the original account, which is active and regularly receives USD payments from other parties without any problems. However, no payments have been made. As a result, I still haven’t received payments for transactions from August 2024 and September 2024. Unfortunately, I haven’t been given any clear information on why the payments haven’t been processed or why the previous account was deemed unsuitable and needed to be updated.

Wow, sorry you're experiencing this.

There have been so many complaints about Afternic's nonresponsiveness and payment delays.

I too have complaints along similar lines. My pending cases are pretty recent but still concerning. I've sent Afternic emails and reached out via their TA agent message board. No response yet. Nothing at all! If it were DAN, I'd have received my payments by now and/or gotten some kind of response or update after I reached out.

@GoDaddy, what on earth is going on? Please intervene.

This isn't as serious as delayed payments, etc. but that wacky afternic is at it again.

Now I have two names (no trademark issues) that for no reason have gone to 'review' status. Both names have been listed at afternic for years with BIN's.

I've now taken the BIN's off and will let them sit for a bit...of course I've pointed the names to another provider.
