By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Right. Mostly Dynadot.

BTW, 103 domains pending now.

I was required to re-sync my Afternic account with Dynadot to make everything live again. Agent seemed to feel this had something to do with the platform swap over a few days ago

Afternic has a robust system that has been built over many years to gauge low-quality and spam inquiries. But since we don't want any leads to be missed, Afternic sends the low-quality lead some automated emails. I can't share the data or criteria of the lead score, but the system doesn't reject requests - if there's no response from the lead, then it remains in the "Stalled" status.

If the lead does respond, then a broker is automatically assigned, and the lead is worked. Again, this system is put in place so that all leads are worked - and it's been very successful - that auto-response system now has some more exposure to sellers thanks to the lead center :)

@GoDaddy - If the buyer provides a phone number, do brokers also make a call? or is it just e-mails until engagement?

Once you click on the Afternic icon above the dashboard it takes you to Afternic Homepage, where it shows sign in. One has to click the back button to come back to the dashboard. Without doing that how can I come back to the dashboard?
Is there any other option?
Because if i further delve into Afternic homepage then I have to click back button several times till it takes me to Afternic dashboard.

don't click on Afternic icon. It is a trap. Afternic is using a hidden system of gamification where the logo is a death point. Just navigate around and you should be fine.

If after you go to your dashboard and click on sales and the leads link doesn't show, don't worry. Just click anywhere else, then again click sales and the link, voila, is there. And you get some hidden game points into your hidden gaming dashboard.

If your leads are not updating, don't worry either. They are still there and brokers can see them. Just ping your agent and in a day or so they will show.

I just chat with someone right now at TA. Connection was quick.

They give you option to select the department.

I have spoke to support 2 times and they did confirm the Fast Transfer has been tuned off but It still shows Active in my Afternic account.
Can you please look into this and see if you can change the status in my account?

Yea I have been using it for a few days now and it works great, the representatives were fast and good.
But I would like to see Chat on all landers for buyers to be able to ask questions. I hope that is coming soon.

Even though our feedback has been largely ignored so far, I hope this new format will help improve Afternic. I have to admit, Iโ€™m feeling particularly optimistic today...

The feedback from sellers has been hugely important - it's helped us to bring new features to sellers, and we've brought a lot since early 2023. The lead center, ownership verification, lease to own, lease to own on GoDaddy-branded landers, filters, bulk search, live chat, expedited payouts, visitor stats, SSL on landers, and more.

Of course, there's more that we can, and will do, too. Self brokerage, a self-serve pending review system, and added automation and an overhaul of the TA process are just a few of the things that we know are highly requested, and coming soon.

We truly appreciate the community feedback.


Hey Afternic. How do we opt-out of those ANNOYING nag pop-up windows that give suggestions over and over again every time we go to our domain portfolio? What self-respecting web developer let you do this? You could make better use of your devs by adding columns that show expiry data of the domain which is public whois data and very useful for domainers keeping expired names out of their afternic porfolio. Also, the entire top half of the domain portfolio dashboard is UNUSABLE and shows static non-scrolling content. So basically the list of domains begins halfway down the page. You are wasting super valuable real estate for functionality to view/manage domains in bulk. You have obviously borrowed elements from DAN before you trashed their service. You ought to use the rest of their functionality features like full screen use/bulk domain portfolio, etc.

Usually, one of our expert brokers will try to reach out to the potential buyer as soon as they're able to. While this approach can differ from lead to lead based on quality scores, we know that getting a buyer on the phone is a good indicator of an increased likelihood of a sale.

Not sure I understand this. You've tested in the past. So you have data, then. So what does "if it increases the sell-through rate,..." mean. It either ALREADY has or hasn't.

Maybe, you mean you guys collect data, lock it and analyze a decade later? That would certainly explain a lot of things I am baffled about.

I am sure with the recent dissatisfaction regarding Afternic & Dan changes, issues, glitches, etc. running the @GoDaddy account can feel like a thankless job.

I want to say thanks for responding to many of the comments.

I just want a better Afternic. If Dan.com shutting down leads to that then fine.
If it just leads to the same old Afternic, that is not good.

Is this insight panel a new feature? Why is it only showing on some names? I have a lot of names that are a lot higher than this and it doesn't show for them.

Edit - I've been out of town so I apologize if this was already discussed.

I made this post a couple pages back, they responded saying they would.

Weโ€™ve previously tested this on the Buy it Now lander, allowing potential buyers to directly contact the brokerage team. If it's ultimately shown to increase sell-through rates, weโ€™ll fully integrate it.

The same goes for the Custom Lander. With the core Dan design in place, weโ€™re ready to test various iterations and features aimed at improving your sell-through rate. One area we'll definitely explore is contact options.

Horrible evil experiment. Not many end users understand (some of) that SEO mumbo jumbo and how irrelevant it is if they aren't specifically looking for a seo/traffic domain. Most aftermarket domains have "bad" scores.

And the only way to opt out of this stupidity is to unlist?

Those @GoDaddy insights are misleading and will deter some buyers who don't understand better. It really needs to be removed or only shown for relevant SEO names.

I checked my names that have DA / backlinks and it doesn't show. Was that name acquired from GoDaddy Auctions?



My other issue: Showing appraisal value below the make offer $$

UPDATE โ€“ It is now accepting my .ca email address

Have others from Canada encountered that when you try to use the Afternic Chat (a feature I appreciate them adding), which requires you to enter your account and email, that it says that email accounts ending in .ca are invalid? At least that is what it is showing for me today.

Agreed, and while this might be important info for expired domains, almost no one is going to be paying retail aftermarket prices just for traffic/SEO domains, as the value is not there.

It's truly bizarre to see Afternic adding stupid (and dangerous/ill-fitting) things like this while constantly delaying the implementation of important features like self-brokerage, domain descriptions and additional landers, as well as fixing existing landers.

If I am an end user, and I see "VISITS: 0" -- would that indicate it's a great name for my new business?

Most weird is that I had 2 domains with above 250 visits per month, when it was at Dan, now it have 0 visits, something is dubious.

I just wanted to add my voice to how irritating, and useless, this is.

For example, every time you delete a domain name, you get a popup that says:

Success
1 domain successfully deleted. Your changes may take a moment to reflect.

And that message obscures the box to enter another name to search. So time after time you have to close the box. Could you not at least show it only once in a session, or maybe not at all if the person has >x domains or >1 year on Afternic, as odds are they know that already?

There are numerous other messages that pop up, particularly making it challenging if trying to operate from a tablet.
