By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

If the only update to a domain is its domain pricing, the domain can still revert to the "In Review" status, despite no other changes being made. As a result, I repeatedly see the same domains coming up for review, which then requires manual resolution through a support ticket. This even happens when only changing fields from "Min/Floor/BIN" to "Min" field filled in.

@GoDaddy Are you continuing efforts to finally resolve this long-standing issue?

Yes, all my domains are also registered with Dynadot. I donโ€™t keep domains with other registrars, so I donโ€™t have the opportunity to check elsewhere.
Not sure if this is related, but I noticed a few days ago that none of my domains at Dynadot showed Fast Transfer active anymore, even though in Afternic they are showing as FT active. This looks like it was caused by my account becoming unlinked to Afternic, so I went ahead and relinked but it didn't change the FT status of my domains on Dynadot. However, any new domains I added and approved for fast transfer since relinking displayed correctly.

After some back and forth, they told me "Thanks for your information. This was caused by a fix to avoid the inactive domain listing from Afternic being displayed. Our team is working with Afternic to solve the problem you are facing with and will write some code to recover the fast transfer status as soon as possible. "

I don't know if it's related either, but I really appreciate you mentioning this specific issue again, especially since we havenโ€™t received any official response from GoDaddy until now.

I am thinking of the developers and administrators who are working hard and are in danger of being crushed between (excessive or absent) management requirements and the complaints in this thread.

So let's also try to record positive developments.
In my experience, there is nothing to complain about when it comes to the duration of payouts to the seller. Two to three bank days until posting to the German current account is good!
And I like the (no longer quite) new dashboard.
All good things come in threes: being able to use a rep is very helpful.

Just a heads up for other people - I have a payment from an afternic sale from over a month ago still processing. If others are experiencing similar delays, please post, so we know if something is going on with the system. We don't want another Epik situation on our hands. I've gotten several e-mail responses but they contain no updates, only that their team is reviewing a transaction.

Hi.
I am trying to set up my payment settings so that I can receive funds from PayPal if the funds are lower than a certain amount and through Wire Transfer if it is over it. How can I do this?

My payments were default to Wire Transfer with Payment Threshold of 1500$ and PayPal (not default) for amounts with Payment Threshold of 50$ but it did not work for a recent payment of 300$ and the payment got stuck.

When I first contacted Afternic support about my funds and they said that "when the funds are processed they will be going your payee method with the ID of xxxx396 and is currently set to wire transfer". And so I changed my default Payout to PayPal and sent them the email to process it now. But they are now saying "Please be advised that the sale of xxxxxxx.com is associated with a payee ID: xxxx396. Nickname: xxxxxxCI" (Wire Transfer). You should change this ID to PayPal if you want to receive the payment there." And I explored inside my Afternic account and I think there no way to change the ID from user's side. So can it be changed? And how can I set up my payment settings so that this does not happen again?

Afternic support is slow to reply and half of the time they don't seem to understand what the query is, what is being asked and reply with a solution which was not sought for.

You should be able to update your payout profile through your sold panel until the payout is scheduled. Just check your Transaction Summary area. You can also visit https://www.afternic.com/account/payments and click "Edit" next to a payout profile to rename it for easier tracking and adjust your thresholds.

Here's a recent issue I have that I think some other people were experiencing. I was searching for my domains on GoDaddy and noticed that some weren't showing the prices I set for them, just the minimum offer requirement.

I contacted Afternic and pointed out the domains I found that were doing this and they said it was a synchronization issue between Afternic and GoDaddy and that they resynced those domains and all should be good now. I checked those names and they were now fixed, but I found more domains of mine with the same issue.

I then sent another email this morning to Afternic with more names to fix and asked if they can just run a resynchronization on my entire account. Since I just emailed them about this, I haven't heard back yet.

The scary thing is, how many other people is this affecting? I have a smaller portfolio so it's not as hard for me to find my domains having this problem, but for others with larger ones, that can be quite a task.

@GoDaddy Good day. The problem is still not resolved for THOUSANDS of my domains, I repeat, THOUSANDS. Instead of the Custom Lander, the page 'This domain is registered, but may still be available.' is displayed. When you follow the link, instead of showing the fixed price for the domain (and all my domains have fixed prices), GoDaddyโ€™s domain broker service is displayed, without the option to purchase the domain. Examples for those who want to check this themselves:

Itโ€™s very convenient for you, as you receive a broker's commission, but itโ€™s not convenient at all for me and potential buyers of my domains, as I am the one losing sales. Most of my domains practically sell themselves, as they are 4-letter domains, and almost all buyers find them by entering the desired combination of letters in the browserโ€™s address bar. In this situation, instead of seeing the fixed price for which they can buy the domain, the potential buyer sees an offer to pay you $119.99 and possibly purchase the domain. Please provide a timeline for when you plan to fix this "bug".

Given the frequent and often unnecessary "In Review" status for domains, I propose implementing an easy "FIX" button that allows us to address these issues directly without further interaction, rather than having to submit a support ticket each time.

While a permanent solution would be ideal, this would at least alleviate some of the daily frustration sellers experience with using your platform.

That's exactly our goal. We're aiming to move away from a support-led system for reviewing domains, so you can spend less time managing your account. To set expectations, this year we're focused on integrating features from Dan.com into Afternic and updating our sales and TA flows. However, we plan to evaluate the In Review system in 2025.

Without knowing the specific domain, it's tough to provide details. However, flagging a transaction for review isn't something that is done lightly. We encourage you to keep in touch with the TA teamโ€”theyโ€™ll update you once the review is complete.

Feel free to DM us the domain so we can track the progress.

In classic afternic, one could have different "payees" for different sales at the same time. It is the idea. Why? I can write a separate post to explain, but I beleive you're already aware of the reasons. Now, it is no more possible. What can be updated is just a global default payee. It is a downgrade. So, will Afternic return an option to select the payee for each sale? If not, why? What exactly prevents Afternic from offering logical, normal and expected (especially for non-US sellers) function?

It's possible you have too many domains to sort and they are waiting for more servers to arrive in the mail.
