Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Thank you @Future Sensors, I also used a similar CSV file, but it no longer works for me. I tried using your file just to be sure, but unfortunately, it didn't work either.
That's a pity. What are you noticing, is there an error message in the Notifications center?

I'm currently not having issues with CSV uploads, but these are two things you can check:
  • If there's another CSV upload that has not yet completed, the second one will give an error message.
  • If you save the CSV in the wrong character set, this can cause problems. I personally use Unicode (UTF-8). When opening the CSV, LibreOffice Calc allows me to choose the specific character set.
I will upload some more domains myself later to check if I'm experiencing any problems at the moment, as well.

I agree, adding a phone number and a chat box would be a great addition to convert potential customers with inquiries.

I'm using the new "Custom Lander" now with no issues, so what kind of bugs have you encountered that made you switch to the old "BIN Lander"?
Just the same issues as others have voiced. Fast transfer issues and the lander not loading. Both issues seem to be resolved as of now. I still prefer a phone number especially for 4/5 figure sales.

Thank you. I think I'm trying too quickly because one file did work, but since I've tried so often, I'm not sure which format csv was correct :tightlyclosedeyes:.

You cannot be completely blamed for that. At DAN your CSV is processed in the blink of an eye, at Afternic it takes an incredibly long time.

Are Afternic nameservers ever going to be able to handle HTTPS? I've set my domains to ns1.afternic.com and ns2.afternic.com (using the custom lander) but when I try to visit them in say Google Chrome, very often Chrome tries the https URL first and so I get a ERR_SSL_UNRECOGNIZED_NAME_ALERT error and I have to manually change the URL scheme from https to http in order for redirect to work. I can't expect prospect buyers to be tech-savvy enough to do this...

Nameservers have technically nothing to do with this.

TLS certs for your Afternic domain landers will be created once a few visits to https have been detected. You can speed up this process a bit by visiting your landers on https directly.

@Afternic Do you know when you will be accepting the alternate TLDs that Dan.com accepts? I would hope that there is a plan to accept these before you sunset Dan.

@GoDaddy A new glitch I encountered several times in the past 48 hours when I added domain names with BIN and floor prices in bulk using the spreadsheet, they were added without BIN and floor prices and I had to re-upload the spreadsheet again until they were listed with BIN and floor prices.

Also, the newly added domains are always set to "Request Price" lander even though the Default Sale Lander is set to "Custom Lander" in my account.

Please fix these issues ASAP.

Thank you!
Hi @Maged Khatab
Thanks for letting us know. Are you still experiencing this?

Okay, so I wanted to check out the 'new' lander config.

Where is the 'Make Offer' that I selected in my settings? The BIN is there, the LTO is there but no sight of the MO.

If the 'Make Offer' option is not going to be available on the 'new' lander, it is a no go for me.
Hi @Mister Funsky
You're right. We launched with Buy it Now and Lease to Own options. As we mentioned in the launch blog, Make Offer will be coming to the Custom Lander, stay tuned!

Switched all of my domains back to the old BIN lander. Too many Bugs and no phone number. Plus you can now CamelCase on the old BIN lander. ๐Ÿ‘
Hi @ARCCLOUD
The launch of the Custom Lander focuses all of the attention on the most important call to action: acquiring your domain name through the purchase button.

We plan to experiment with many things, as we always do with Afternic's Sale Landing Pages to further increase lander effectiveness. This experimentation may include adding a phone number. However, providing too many options for the buyer on-screen dilutes the conversion rate. For the Custom Landing Page, we'll build a baseline and begin experimentation!

Hi @tech08
For specific information about your transaction, we recommend discussing it directly with the TA team through your sales area or reaching out to the Afternic support team directly.

Hi @CalamityJane
We introduced TLS support for our landers last year. Newly pointed domain names are queued and automatically set up for HTTPs traffic. This timeframe can vary.

Hi @ARCCLOUD
Afternic continues to add domain extensions to the platform, such as the recent inclusion of .bot. If you have any specific TLDs that are not supported on Afternic that you'd like to see there, please reach out to our team.

No matter what lander I use, I only get the "Request Price" page.

It would seem that the portfolio view overrides the settings' setup. Both settings have to be the same for them to work correctly.

Does anyone have a working bulk upload csv file? I tried with the template file, but the domain names are not being added.

@td11 - Keep it simple. Use only columns A through E as seen below from the template provided by @Future Sensors

Note: Since copying & pasting from spreadsheet to spreadsheet can be a little buggy at times, I recommend the following:
1. Copy & paste the spreadsheet data into a notepad.
2. Create a new spreadsheet.
3. Copy & paste the notepad data into the new spreadsheet.
4. Save as CSV.
5. Upload.

Additional Note: If you're using Firefox, try using a different browser.

In 2024 for the largest sales platform in the world this is an INSANE workflow to have to go through.

There are indie hackers on X with 3 customers who have built better systems than this.

I agree, but I don't work on or for the platform, I just work around all the bugs.

While it may seem like a lot, it really isn't. If I already have the data, I literally get it done in seconds.

It's the waiting 2 hours to see if the upload actually completes that really gets me.

It was much easier, faster and more efficient 15-20 years ago, but that's all I'm going to say about it.

I agree. In fact, I had written this back on 23-July in another thread but it was regarding this very same issue. Scroll back and back and backl and its the same, same, same thing... Its sad.

As a software developer with 40+ years under my belt, it is very painful to watch a company valued at $20 Billion USD continually behave like I would expect some start up in a garage behave: making almost the same errors over and over, seemingly using "bandage" fixes, which break something else INSTEAD OF a mature company which can throw tremendous resources at problems.

@GoDaddy Every few weeks, and sometimes days, I have to contact Afternic regarding some of my active domains that went into reviewโ€”the same domains over and over. This has been happening for years.

It's either accepted or not. If it's reviewed and accepted, it should be whitelisted.

Unfortunately, Afternic is not able to do this with their current software.

Afternic Support to me on July 11, 2024:

"Please keep in mind that we do not have a way to whitelist a domain and the system will automatically review all the domains."

It may be true that it happens automatically, but this process takes far too long. That's why all these tickets are created to remove these domains from review status.

Afternic should develop a solution to further streamline this process for certain categories of review. It will save a lot of manual work answering tickets and removing these (same) domains from review every single time. That's money that will benefit investors in the company. And it is yet another way to improve customer satisfaction.

Hi @Sameh
Domain names can go into review status for a number of reasons - some compliance, some related to Whois or ownership updates. As such, whitelisting domain names canโ€™t be done.

Please continue to work with the support team to make sure the listings are live.

I understand that you can't whitelist a domain from Whois updates, but you can whitelist it if it's a trademark conflict, which is the case in all my domains that go into review.

When you first review a domain because of a trademark conflict, you will accept it or block it from being listed on the platform, as Sedo does. There is no point in reviewing the same domain over and over.

Please don't say it can't be done. Just say we don't want to do it.
