We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

@GoDaddy Is there any update about when Afternic will introduce invoices/transaction summaries just like Dan.com does?
Hi @Embrand
Yes, that's coming later this month. We'll share the news in this thread when Invoicing is live.

@GoDaddy , I just made an offer on one of my names. The Afternic mail goes to spam directly, so this is a huge issue, I believe a fellow domainer already reported this issue previously. Any update on this?

Moreover the broker closed the inquiry with stalled status, no follow up, no calls, nothing.

This way will be extremely inefficient to use price request lander or the custom lander with make offer enabled.
We would appreciate if the fix would be a priority. Thanks
Hi @freety85
Our team is aware of this, and we're looking into this, but some extra information from you would be useful. We'll reach out via DM.

We'll also reach out for more on the broker inquiry.

That explained why I lost so many sales!!!

Instead of fixing too many bugs in Afternic, what GD should do is to delete all the contents from Afternic and move Dan contents over Afternic. Then they can shutdown Dan without fixing the bugs.

Currently they have bad business planners and bad programmers!!!

Even the qualified DAN programmers who did phenomenal work pre-acquisition, found themselves in an environment where true cutting edge innovation was no longer at the forefront. I can only imagine how frustrating that must have been.

@GoDaddy - Using Firefox, closing this popup modal doesn't work:

Cleared cache / cookies and still the same. Only goes away when I refresh but comes back every time I log back in.

Disregarding the platform's lack of features and options, my major gripe with Afternic continues to be the interminable time between a) posting a message or counter and b) receiving a response or a broker activity update.

Right now I have a new domain purchase that received an offer from a broker and an offer from Afternic. The outside broker side is digging their heels in at an offer price that is lower than my baseline to sell, so as requested by the Afternic broker I have updated them yesterday and sent my buy price.

The problem is that this system is totally unusable, as I'll probably have to wait 2-3 days before the Afternic broker reads my message and initiates any kind of action (rinse and repeat). GD either needs to hire a lot more brokers to cover the increase in sales listings from GD Auctions (and Dan in the future) or allow us to communicate with the potential buyer.

This "send message/counter then wait 2-3 days for some kind of response" pattern is just insane and I cannot believe GD is going to close down Dan and replace it with Afternic - they'd need to hire 30X the brokers they have now just to get to a same-day response level, and something tells me they're not going to do that.

Just imagine how long we'll have to wait when Dan is gone...

When searching for a keyword on the GoDaddy domain registration pathway, the results do not include related domains listed for sale on Afternic, even if those domains have been boosted.

For instance, searching for the keyword "Capital" only displays domains like capital-com.com and capitalcom.com (Afternic listed domains), but does not show other relevant domains available on Afternic that contain the keyword "Capital" and have been boosted for visibility.

Searching for my 1 word .co domain, it shows the domain as available for hand registration.

For the past 3 days in a row, I have added some domains, updated LTO, and pointed them to Afternic Nameservers, then tested them and all resolved with no issues. However, after ~12 to 24 hours, when I visited my domains, they all displayed the message "This domain is registered, but may still be available". So, I ended up deleting and relisting them again.

It's the 7th day in a row with the same issue. Each day with a different set of domains.

Anyone here encountered this problem? Do you double-check your listings?!

I noticed this earlier today on a few of my domains. I'll give it a day or so and see if it corrects itself.

Thanks for the opportunity to air my grievances and opinions. Even though I am not new to Afternic, my listings are. The little problems I have had so far, I assign to the "learning curve". In due course I will provide relevant feedback.

@GoDaddy

Do you still consider Dan.com the best choice for landers compared to Afternic?

What about the promised percentages of 40-90%?

Why try to reinvent the wheel when such a successful marketplace already exists, with 2.5 million domains still pointed to it based on NS?

A agree, similar experience here and going back to pre-boost times as well. Its why I am not confident to list my names there anymore. That plus the recurring whack-a-mole bugs, every single change to a price or removal of a BIN results in a "review" even after some domains are 20 years old and have been reviewed I cant count how many times, most of my names never showed up in a registration path / suggestions pre-boost.

BTW, I noticed a lot of search-testing with my 1-word keywords resulted in a suggestion of that keyword with a dash + "s" or some other absurd suggestion instead of a solid choice. This was pre and not I also see it post boost.

I've just now noticed that I'm starting to see more Premium names shown in the GoDaddy search results. Before it seemed like I might see anywhere from 1 to 4 premium names being shown when doing a search, but now I'm seeing 20+ premium names showing up in the results.

Exact match were always at the top before. Many sales comes from exact match imo
