Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

They said no to me
I have no problem using Wise for payouts.
I'm not a US resident or citizen, either, and I always use ACH payment to Wise.

It also has the lowest fees !!

is it possible to receive payouts to Wise in USD?
Yes, it's possible. That's a how I get payments.

For non-US citizens, you need to do a little trick while filling the payout form. You may get details from the support team.

They said no to USD for me as my local currency is EUR

I never asked them, just created a US account in Wise.
Maybe you are talking about USD payment in a non US bank?

Due to the Uniregistry Market shutdown and being asked to move to Afternic Parking, would ns1.uniregistrymarket.link and n2.uniregistrymarket.link still work, or which nameservers should I use for parking (parking only without for sale lander)?

Please let me know.

They did it! They added NS3/TXT record verification!

There's a new Add Domains page in the Afternic Beta that has verification options. This page used to bounce you back to the old Afternic Add Domains page.

This makes me so happy.

Edit: it doesn't actually work yet, the AJAX request to trigger the verification fails with a 500 error, but we're so close!

Maybe we're only a few more years away from them actually making it work. It's nice to have progress though. :)

The "reconcile" (sync) option is no longer present in Beta - it's only available after switching back to Classic.

A bulk delete option has not been implemented, either.

This way it becomes very difficult to maintain larger portfolios.

Correction. It's still there!

Lander Selection: The way you switch between Afternic landing pages is changing

Afternic is excited to announce our lander selection update!

In short, this update changes how you switch between Request Price, Buy it Now (BIN), and Cashparking landing pages at Afternic.

From now on, customers already using Afternic nameservers will now use Afternicโ€™s portfolio dashboard to update their landing page settings either individually or in bulk. You will not need to change Afternic nameservers to change landing pages.

For customers adding domain names to Afternic, here is our recommended flow going forward:
  • Set your domain name to ns1.afternic.com and ns2.afternic.com
  • Add your domain name to your Afternic portfolio
  • By default, your domain name will show the Request Price landing page
  • If you want to change the landing page that is shown, this will be done through your Afternic portfolio page
  • Any changes to your Afternic landing page selection will, in the future, be actioned from your Afternic portfolio page

Why have we done this?
In the past, selecting your landing page at Afternic would require you to change to specific nameservers. This limited our ability to add new lander types.

Switching to this lander selection system paves the way for us to add more lander types in the future. For example, lease to own landing pages.

For a first look at lander selection and our ownership verification update, read this blog post from @James Iles.

FAQs

Do I need to change Afternic nameservers to change my landing page?

As long as youโ€™re pointing to Afternic nameservers (for example, ns1.afternic.com and ns2.afternic.com), you will change your lander type via Afternicโ€™s portfolio page from now on.

Will Afternic remember my current landing page settings?
Afternicโ€™s team has backfilled landing page preferences. Your current Afternic landing page preferences are shown under the new โ€œSales Landerโ€ column on your portfolio page. From now on, you will change you lander type via Afternicโ€™s portfolio page.

If Iโ€™m already using Afternic nameserver settings, do I need to update my nameservers to access the new lander selection?
If your domain is currently using an existing Afternic nameserver, you do not need to make any changes to your nameserver settings. The lander settings will now be determined by the lander selection in the UI rather than the nameservers.

If your domain is not using the Afternic nameserver, you will need to update your domain to use one of our nameserver configurations and then select the lander type in the UI.

How long will it take for my lander page to update to the new lander settings?
If your lander is currently using an Afternic nameserver, the lander changes should take effect almost immediately.

If you have just updated the nameservers to Afternic, please allow 24-48 hours to see the lander changes take effect.

If I add domain names to Afternic and I use an Afternic nameserver configuration, which landing page will it default to?
Lander selection will default your domain to our Request Price landing page. If you want to change that, you should visit your Afternic portfolio page and change the Sales Lander settings.

That is a relief. I am still relying on a lot of features in the Classic interface and nervous for the day they close it.

A bulk delete feature like DAN's would really be a huge QOL improvement. I'm encouraged that the NS3 verification looks identical to DANs (even using the same verify.hn domain) so it look like they are bringing over some of the DAN interface.

Another update: although the UI doesn't show it, the NS3 verification does seem to be happening in the background. I submitted 8 names for verification and 2 have now popped up in my account.

Ownership Verification Comes to Afternic!

One of the most requested features for Afternic is automated ownership verification. Weโ€™re pleased to announce that starting today, ownership verification is live for customers in Afternic 2.0 beta!

Utilizing nameserver and TXT methods, automated ownership verification replaces Afternicโ€™s previous customer services-led verification, providing a faster independent way to remove outdated listings.

This replaces our original customer services-led ownership verification system.

For a first look at ownership verification and our important lander selection update, read this blog post from @James Iles.

FAQs

How can I find my ownership verification TXT and Nameserver records?

You can find these on your new ownership settings page: https://www.afternic.com/account/ownership

Are my TXT and Nameserver records domain-specific, or account-specific?
These records are unique to your account, and so are account-specific.

Do I need to verify all domain names that I add to Afternic from now on?
For now, ownership verification is required to add a domain name to your account that already has a listing at Afternic.

@GoDaddy When adding the column "Sales Lander" to the Portfolio overview, the last column "Action" disappears completely.

@GoDaddy Suggestion: make the "Download Template" a simple .csv file.

The current .xls file produces an "Unknown or unsupported Excel file format" error.

As per the last newsletter: "In instances where you are adding a domain name to your portfolio that already has a listing on Afternic, you'll be able to use TXT or nameserver records to move that domain name into your portfolio within minutes."
Fine, but ownership verification is still not mandatory. In other words, fraudsters are still able to add domains they do not own (if a real owner does not have the domain listed @ afternic), as well as unregistered domains. Moreover, the same issue is still not fixed @ DAN.
:(

It's great to finally see updates for Afternic 2.0!

The new bulk upload sample file I downloaded via beta does not open on macOS.

bulk-xls.png

Lander selection will default your domain to our Request Price landing page. If you want to change that, you should visit your Afternic portfolio page and change the Sales Lander settings.

Is there a way to preserve the lander selections when uploading with the reconcile/replace option? I wasn't sure as I couldn't open the new file as seen in the screenshot above. If there is no column for it, I think it should be added.

Yes, there's definitely something wrong with that template .xls file.

Offering a simple .csv will do.
