There are many prefix+keyword, keyword+ suffix, and also prefix+keyword+suffix domains in the market.

Can some one give tips on how to rank your domain for a particular keyword on markets like Afternic.

Especially Afternic displays limited number of search results for a particular keyword.

I have searched NP, but didn't got any valueable Information. If you know any threads regarding this, please reply in the comments.

    Thanks.

    Hello @Parmeet (y)

    Thanks for your question.

I'm not sure how to interpret when you say 'ranking on Afternic'.
    • Is this about choosing a good domain name with a prefix/suffix?
    • Or is this about ways to stand out with such domains, within Afternic?
With regard to creating good domains with prefix and suffix, you can find inspiration here:

The second part i.e. ways to stand out with such domains.
I mean Ranking on search results for a particular keyword.

Eg: I own Y*о*u*r*S*а*f*е*р*l*а*с*е.соm, and when someone searches for the keyword "Safeplace" in the afternic tab, It shows various domain names having keyword " Safeplace" but not my domain name.

I have recently acquired this domain name, but before acquiring it was showing Y*о*u*r*S*а*f*е*р*l*а*с*е.соm at seventh or eight position, even when someone searched for the main keyword "safeplace". But not after they deleted it for me to add this domain from my account.

In short I want to know the SEO of afternic search result for a particular keyword.
What are the factors it takes into consideration?
Number of taken Extensions of our domain name?
    Domain age?
    Domain price? Etc

The only tip I have received is to change the nameservers pointing to afternic. But I am not sure if this works.

Does Adding description, category, or keyword helps?

    Thanks

I see what you mean. Your domain is listed on Afternic.com, but the results on Afternic.com when searching for a phrase like "safeplace" are limited to just 20 domains, and your domain is not (or not yet) present in these results.

Perhaps a factor here is that you've recently acquired this particular domain, and it is still in the 60-day lock period. Maybe this is one of the variables Afternic uses for choosing which domains to show in the results on Afternic.com. I wouldn't know how you can further influence ranking in this overview on Afternic.com, let's first see if it will be shown after the 60d period.

I can see that your domain is listed correctly on Afternic.com, auctions.godaddy.com, and in the godaddy.com registration path. When you do an Afternic Fast Transfer opt-in, it will be listed on partner sites as well, but it will be listed only after the 60-day period has ended.

One last thing, I would not worry about this too much :xf.wink:

The domain has been pushed to my account and not transferred, so the domain is not in the 60 day period lock.

Except this name, I have 50 other names which have crossed the 60 day lock 2-3 months ago. None are enlisted for the keyword.

I feel I am doing something wrong here.

As said, Something that is visible to more people sells faster. The primary intent of buyer is to have a domain name with keyword, suffix and prefix just improves the main keyword.

Thanks for your reply though. Your contribution on NPs is valuable for newbie like me. I keep reading your post/replies on various threads. ☺️

@Samer , @Bob Hawkes or @bmugford any input on this will be appreciated

    Thanks.

When the previous owner sold the domain to you through Afternic (or their partner network), Afternic knew that there would be a new registrant from that time on. So this may be why your domain will not show immediately. In the whois info, there's an 'Updated Date' for your domain that says '2021-04-28T07:27:55Z'. For Afternic, all this may be a factor for 'ranking' domains in their results on the Afternic.com website itself, regardless of whether they were pushed, or transferred between registrars with AUTH-code.

Let's invite @Joe Styler to the discussion as well, perhaps he can tell more about this subject.

I dont think it matters. Afternic does sell domains but the vast majority of domains are sold via the partners' websites such as Network Solutions, Tucows, GoDaddy etc. When customers go to buy a domain at a website they much more often than not want a specific domain and do a search and if your domain is a match it will show up at the various Afternic partners. They each have their own priority and ways to spin alternative results in which your name might appear. I would concentrate on acquiring good keywords that sell (look at the market in places like NameBio.com) and concentrate on niches you know well and that will be the best way to make sales happen.
