In direct response to customer requests, we’re giving you another way to add security to your Afternic account.

Two-Step Verification (2SV) is an added layer of security that helps reduce account compromises due to phishing attacks and other forms of online fraud.

2SV works by requiring you to sign in with two successive factors: Something you know (your password) and something you have access to (a code sent to your mobile device).

If you’ve ever set up 2SV on any other online accounts, the process should feel familiar. Simply:
  1. Go to your Afternic Account Details page. Scroll down to the Security section, and click the new "Manage 2-Step Verification" button.
  2. Choose the 2SV method you'd like to use and then select “Continue.” Complete the setup process according to the method you selected.
  3. Add a backup 2SV method to minimize hassle if something goes wrong (like losing your phone). Simply click the “Add Backup” button on the 2SV screen to add a backup method.

Better late than never! Anybody tried it?

GD tends to release things in beta first... hope such a critical change is already working though. Backup method - a set of backup codes is expected, as the sms is far from secure/reliable (especially for international numbers). What type of backup does Afternic offer?

Yes, I just set it up. Works like it should except for adding a backup method. It seems you're correct about releasing it in beta....

i tried it too and it works.
got problems with creating the backup too because at the moment it accepts only sms to US phones and i don't have any key.
btw it would be cool if they add a backup with the otp sent to a saved email address
