I want to know the reasons why ICANN is accrediting domain name registrars. Tell me the reasons if you know them.

ICANN is the company that has the authority to sell domain names over Internet. In short ICANN gives permission to Domain registrars to sell domain names on their behalf.
A buyer cannot purchase domain name directly from ICANN, he has to purchase domain from domain reseller

More importantly, how can a registrar loss their accreditation?

For example, if you register a domain with 1and1.com and turn off auto renew they will disable your control panel.

1and1.com also provides a proxy address for private registration that you will no longer receive, effectively stealing your domain preventing you from transferring the domain.

By violating their registrar contract with ICANN, of course. They've posted samples of such on their web site.
