About Best Registrar Polls

I think best registrar polls should be at the end of the year.

2016 poll was in march. Godaddy won, 52%. Thread by @JB Lions .
2017 poll was in november. Godaddy won 29.8%. Thread by @equity78
There was no poll in 2018.
2019 poll was in june. Namesilo won 24.4%.
2020 poll was in march. Epik won 26.9%.

Here is my idea.
Start poll on the 1st day of december and end it on the last 31st day of december, or from 1st to 15th or 15th to 31st.

So that going into the new year, we can look back and decide who the best registrar was.
Leave it open for a whole month and keep debating so that everyone can see it and vote.
Have public votes (we can see who's voting for who), results only viewable after voting.

Imo its better than march or september polls.
Make it Best Registrar of the Year, so it would make sense to have it at the end of the year.

You'd even have registrars try to bribe us with juicy promotions at the end of the year if they had a date to go by.

With mysterious newcomers, Godaddy finally innovating, DAN brewing serious coffee, Epik in the lab, SAV in the schemes, Namesilo launching their new marketplace (forgot the name), dynadot being efficient and thus able to throw any bomb at any time, 2021 will be exciting to see.

But that would be December 2021.

Last one was March 2020, it's now December 2020, and December 2021 feels like a century ahead.

The question for the poll is, should we do it at the end of year; not should we make another one for 2020.

I am not looking to remove epik's title, they already won, pubicly, from june 2019 to march 2020, it's fact in history, nothing can change it.

But for the sake of far away december 2021 itchy feet syndrome, maybe we could have another one, or not.

In both cases, if we decide to move Namepros Best Registrar of the Year award to the month of December.

If we do, have $1 .com and 0% commission bribes ready in october @Paul Nicks @DAN.COM @Rob Monster @Nick R , @namesilo , @Dynadot .

Dynadot and Namesilo do both provide landers for domains listed on their marketplaces.
The last but not the least -

The lander may be brilliant, but the marketplace may be of little or no use. For example, those who would not (or can not) use escrow .com, where domainagents transactions are processed, would not consider this marketplace as good or best, which has nothing to do with the lander (graphics, usability etc)

Everything works as long as theres a lander.

For example bodis has a lander, but may partner with dan for paymemt processing, lets still include bodis.

Efty has a lander, but may partner with someone else for payment processing, lets still include efty.

You'd be then considering bodis lander graphics and usability, along with dan's backbone.
If you choose to vote for bodis.
Thats if dan is bodis's transaction processor (not sure).

R.E. registrar marketplace landers, maybe prioritise landers that you can use without the name being at that registrar (I believe you can do that on Epik but not on Namesilo, but haven't used either yet)

I would include Squadhelp Whitelabel (can be pointed at your own domain or at squadhelp.com) + Alter.com too

See favorite registrar poll, when we have 3 choices we can see who's more appreciated, and who's lagging behind. That is great for June polls.
But you can't say whether porkburn or someone else are among people"s top choices, or simply appreciated as 3rd registrars.
That's why moving forward we should have multiple choices in June, 1 for december.

Registrars, especially the one from the 1st place, should be able to use the results in their marketing campaigns and/or press releases. With 2 polls, or with quarterly polls, this would become "mission impossible". Common sense. What are markiting teams supposed to say then, "we won the 2nd poll of 2021"...? Most awards (in real life) are annual...

It is legit. We already have 278 votes in, probably will be over 400 tomorrow.

2 polls a year is not a good idea.

Members have been the ones starting these polls. I literally pointed out to you the old thread I started where they said for us to start it, they were not.

I've been in contact with the mods about this one.

They featured it in the upper right column today, right under the search box and We're Social links to give it a little more traffic/participation.

While I'm here some tips for your Lander poll.

Should have been in alphabetical order.

Missing some obvious choices, discussed earlier. Example, I use Voodoo for some, not listed. Should have made an input thread first, then poll. Registrar Poll didn't need to do that since we've had them before.

Should be open/transparent - more activity.

I was about to vote but then stopped because of your setup.

Also, try looking at it from a newbie perspective:

Newbie goes to Lander Poll and they can't see anything, it's like a secret, hidden poll, the results at least. But they want that info. Their only option is to vote to see who is getting the votes, but it's not a vote based on experience, they're new. Also, when the poll is over, I'm not sure how the winner will be presented. Is it just first place that will be announced? But who came in 2nd, 3rd, and then you have to trust they're being honest about it without actually seeing the votes. I'm sure they wouldn't lie but people like to see.

People think the "have to vote to see the results" gets more votes, it actually doesn't.

Maybe you can still make those adjustments and save it for this year or try again next year.

But no, Im not good at handling polls.

I checked public votes, and ending december 30th.
Had no idea it would be like this.
But votes will become public on the 30th, and you cant change votes.
