For example networksolutions and doster have "No transfer in 60 days" policy.
Can I transfer to another account in the same registrar?

So, what happens if somebody wants to buy the domain and the domain is only 10 days old?

Thank you.

That rule applies only when you move a domain from one registrar to another. If you move the domain to another account within the same registrar (called a "push"), there is no waiting period. So if you sell before the 60 day waiting period, the buyer must create an account at the same regisrar. They will be able to transfer it out after 60 days.

All registrars that I know of follow the same rule.

I recently experienced enom has a 7 day waiting period after a domain has been pushed before it can be pushed to another account.

Also the godaddy clowns won't let me transfers my domains to moniker for 60 days because whois or nameservers have changed recently. :td:

That's true -- the 60-day rule resets every time you make the slightest change to your whois information.

Some registrars even don't allow push for the first 30 days after registering a new domain.

Namespro.ca makes you wait 30 days after registering a .ca name.

I think Godaddy should change the policy it has of Whois updates. If you move or change your phone number then you'd have to wait 60 days and I think that's bogus. I could see if you were transferring to someone else but not for just updating your OWN info. Other than that (and the TDnam member auctions) I really like Godaddy's service and customer support.

It's a shame they don't see it that way. It's going to take majority of their own
customers to complain about this to finally "convince" Go Daddy to reconsider.

Fat chance, of course.

It's most likely a security feature in case your domains get hacked but I think 60 days is extreme, maybe 15 days at the most if they want to do that.

I think its a feature to make sure you end up renewing your names at GD (not a security feature at all)
