hey NP users, i have a few newbie questions about domains.

1. at what revenue income would you keep a domain. 0.06$ a day or more ?
2. are random LLLL.com domains getting any traffic ?
2a. is it wise of me to buy a few random LLLL.com`s, park them and try making some revenue on them?
3. whats the best parking? parking.com or sedo.com ? in your oppionion (for a newbie) or do you have a better alternative ?
4. how can i get google and other search engines to pick up my domain and rank it higher in their searchlist ?

thats "just" 4.5 questions, i have alot more, ill ask those later :)
hope some fellow newbies out there are wondering the same and get their answer here.
Thank you.

1. any more than 2c a day and you might as well keep the domain - it should cover its reg fee

2. mine are not getting anything significant

2a. imho, no. the point of buying LLLL.coms is to speculate that their value will rise, not to earn parking revenue

3. i think namedrive is good for newbies, though if you can get into parked, then even better ( though some names do better at some parking companies and others do better at others )

4. develop a real website. imho parking is for type in traffic, not for search engine traffic.

Hi

Some of ur doubts are also mine so i hope to see more answers here.

I will answer the one i think i might be right.

1) A domain renewal can cost arround 8$ a year, depending of ur registrant might be a few dollars more.

8$ / 365 days = 0.021

If you can make the domain pay its renewal fee by itself, then i worth to keep it, as older the domain is it gain more value, so if u after some years sell it, it might worth even more just for the age.

my 2 cents.

followup question:
when i park my domain at, lets say sedo (since i use them)
and get 1$ in revenue, and i decide to sell the domain and i push it to another person, will the 1$ still be in my sedo account ?

I keep any domain that I feel is worth at least the reg fee for another year. That could be a domain earning more than $8 a year, or maybe one that earns nothing but I know could sell or develop at a later day.

Also, it's hard to gauge a domain based on how much it earns day-to-day. I have domains that earn nothing almost every day, but will somehow land a few $3 clicks or $20 commissions every couple months.

2. are random LLLL.com domains getting any traffic ?

Not really. Nothing worth getting excited about at least.

2a. is it wise of me to buy a few random LLLL.com`s, park them and try making some revenue on them?

No, don't bother if you only have a few. The LLLL craze is more about buying these names cheaply and selling them later at a profit.

3. whats the best parking? parking.com or sedo.com ? in your opinion (for a newbie) or do you have a better alternative ?

Until you have a domain portfolio with traffic, I'd recommend looking into developing sites and using AdSense or affiliate ads to generate revenue. If your domains only get a few visitors a day (like if you only own 10 LLLL.com's) you might never make the minimum payout with a parking company.

4. how can i get google and other search engines to pick up my domain and rank it higher in their searchlist ?

Host + develop it. Parking a domain usually causes it to be dropped from the search results.

I would keep anything that is going to make up its reg fee for the next year. As RJ had said though that some domains just get random clicks at wierd time. Ive had domains that i have just parked until i got around to developing them make me a couple dollars. Not much but when you have the mind frame of developing that EXTRA couple of dollars is pretty cool.

2. are random LLLL.com domains getting any traffic ?
Most the LLLL.coms that i own get traffic from other domainers looking and speculating about them. So in all reality no real traffic.

2a. is it wise of me to buy a few random LLLL.com`s, park them and try making some revenue on them?
No. I buy LLLL.coms for speculation purposes. As stated above most of the traffic coming into these names are domainers looking for a buy.

3. whats the best parking? parking.com or sedo.com ? in your oppionion (for a newbie) or do you have a better alternative ?
NameDrive.com is the best for a newbie or sedo.com.... Also if you are looking for another alternitive to parking a domain try iMODO.com they let you customize your pages with articles and such. You also use your own affiliate programs. i.e. AdSense

4. how can i get google and other search engines to pick up my domain and rank it higher in their searchlist ?
SEO is all i have to say about this one. Also the only way your doimain will rank high is if your domain has a website with it. Exceptions are webmaster trying to sell a domain that was a previous site, but these domains eventually lose their ranking if they do not have a website up.

Any other questions let us know ;)
