I have pronounceable 5L.com names and Im wondering if it is best to just sell these or sit on them for a while. will value be increasing? I have not been into domains for nearly a year now, looking for advice. Thanks.

Firstly, it depends in large part on what the domains specifically are.

With that said, if you've been getting unsolicited real offers (not the bogus spam nonsense) on them for reasonable amounts, then I'd say definitely keep them; wait it out.

However, if you've received few to no decent offers then selling now may be worth a try if you need cash now / don't want to keep paying the renewal fees.

In making a decision, also consider the amount and quality of the traffic, which likely varies widely for the 5Ls you have. Also google them (web, images, news, etc; search them all) and see if there are similar named sites / people using the 5L phrase.

And run them through estibot and/or one of the other various free appraisal services - don't put too much emphasis on the apprasal value itself, but rather look at the value differences, related keywords, occurrance rates, etc between the various 5Ls and other domains you have to better determine what is worth holding longterm verses selling now.

It's a gamble of sorts for each domain one wishes to sell ... is it better to hold on and pay renewals year after year? (which can be considerable for large portfolios) -or-sell now? Even seemingly crappy domains that get few to zero offers suddenly sell for huge amounts of money out of the blue - check out Sedo's recently sold listing shown in the lower right-hand corner ... it's amazing what some domains sell for; are worth what someone else is willing to pay.

In short, there's no one simple answer, but hope this insight helps.

I am a big fan of 5L .coms If you have really good 5L.coms, I would sit on them for quite a few years. They have a lot of room for value growth and are nowhere near what they will be one day.

I feel that "good" 5L .com will be comparable to good 4L.coms. Look at the big picture 5-10 yrs.

I'd sell any that are so so , and sit on the rest.

Well, depending on your future outlook on domains, now is either the best time to get out while there are still residuals of the mania in place, or now is the best time to be buying (and worst to be selling), since prices are down but you believe a bright future lies ahead.

5L "pronounceables" aren't nearly as desirable as 4L names, based on the math. With that one extra letter, you add an additional 'power' to the equation, which increases the available pool by a great deal. There are 456,976 4L's.
There are 11,881,XXX 5L's.

If you you have random a 5L web2 type name that is actually getting unsolicited queries to buy, then you probably have a really, really good one. You know it's "really really good" as opposed to just "really good" since even the "really good" ones don't get unsolicited offers, given their abstract nature.

How many 5L domains you own? How much money you can burn before you want to let go?

Sell it now!
