I've received a $500 offer for Royal(.)biz, I don't know if I want to sell it for just $1,000 or so. How much would you counter with? How much do you think it's worth end user? I see tons of companies using "royal" in their name, could be any of them.

Thanks.

Could be the Royal Bank of Canada. That would be huge if it was.

If you can stand to not sell then counter with 5k. Their
$500 offer is just a starting point IMO. Counter high and
with any luck you'll meet somewhere in the middle :)

well as anyone knows the .biz takes a back seat to .com in the "domainers world" and this person/company might know that, explaining the low ball offer IMO.
about 288,000,000 for royal at google
Check this link -

It's not that old, and has been dropped once, but that doesn't matter,
it's a quality name and fits pretty good with .biz

I might not counter off with a price, but just nicely tell them that it's too low and thank them for their offer etc... "if you don't need the money and can afford to hold off for more"

Good Luck!

$500 would be a steal for this name IMO

I would counter offer minimum $5-7k. I don't think it hurts with good names like this one to comeback with a high counter offer, it leaves room for negotiation. Choose a rock bottom you wish to sell for then start at 3x that number.. Good luck!

counter with $100,000 you got nothing to loose but $500 who cares. Could be your biggest sale to date, dont be afraid to counter high imho. Great name.

I agree you should make a huge counter offer with this one.. You never know who is on the other side making the offer. "Royal" has so many end users...

countering high can create a great payoff or scare them away IMO
so you decide what you have to loose if anything?
but like I said 500.00 bucks is a serious low ball offer!

For a name like this, offering high contains a very minimal risk. Just think at the amount of end users there could be for this domain. I'd say offer high as if they do say "No thanks", then you can wait for another company to come along and offer.

Don't sell for less than $2,000, you'd regret it.

while it is a great name let's not get carried away. its still a .biz and I wouldn't be countering with 100K . for the .biz I would counter with 10-14K and see what they say. wheter or not the corp has a ton of money isnt always relevent. (maybe it is) got to take the extension into play. they probally know the .biz isn't a top one and you don't see 6 figure sales generally in that extension. Now $500 is a joke. anything under 5K unless I was broke, would be a deal breaker.

I dont believe this potential multi million dollar company who may have made this offer cares about the extension. They are looking at the word Royal period imho!

It's a crap shoot, cause it could also be a potential domainer trying to grab a great name for low ball price and telling him 100k he's gonna walk. Or it could be a multi million dollar company. . . which would be seriously cool! ! !

So webcom, have you decided your plan of attack? going for the gold? or play it safe?
Make sure you keep us informed

$500 is not going to make or break you. Potential end-users that are offering:

Royal Consumer Information Products (Royal.com)
Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines
An one of a number of hotels with the name Royal
Any number of "royal" banks

I tend to agree with those above. If you have any indication that the offer comes from an end-user and not a reseller, I'd aim high.

Couple of tricks here that have worked for me.

ask for a phone number. check it and see if it is associated with a business. aim high if it is a business

reply that you have a higher offer, dont specify, but you care about how the name might be developed and would they be willing to share that information. also gives you a clue as to potential desire

I like that smooth and tricky!

Thats true too but still in the .biz a 100,000 sale would be insane. But you are right. I just think in line with the .biz a 10-20K sale would be a really good one.

Wait a week. Let them know you currently have an offer for $xx,xxx on the table. See what they say.

Great advice, although if it's not a huge company, it might scare them off.

I'd settle for a $10,000 counter offer for this domain.
