My hand reg PopularLocations.com received an offer for $500 on Afternic about 5 days ago. Now 2 days left on auction, and I guess I'll take the $500.

I'm wondering if this is a fair offer, first of all.

Also, I don't know much about Counter Offers, but as far as I know, you respond with a counter offer for a slightly higher amount? Should I do this at the end of the auction or what?

Just really new to the game, you know, need some good advice.

Thanks!

AfternicAfternic
1,7mil Google results for Popular Locations. Other extensions remain available, for this domain I would say accept the offer of 500-USd, as I do not know see why it would be worth more in the meantime.

This is my opinion only. :xf.love:

I think you should take the offer for PopularLocations.com. It is probably from an end user because I do not think a reseller will offer that much (but I could be wrong.)

Regarding the counter offer, usually add a 20% to the offerred price is still acceptable to the potential buyer. So why don't you ask for $600. However, please do not blame me for rejection. :)

Thanks for the tips.

Should I wait until the auction ends then counter offer?

My suggestion would be maybe to reg the net and org then offer $650 for the package... good luck with your domain, it is a nice offer :)

I wouldn't really go by that rule. The counter offer depends largely on the value of the name, and how desperate you are to sell it. For a name that you know wouldn't get many offers, Anthony's rule is good enough. But for good names that you think would find buyers and offers, I would take a different approach. Suppose you had such a name and someone offered you $500 for it, I would counter with $2000-2500 (if I'm not desperate to sell) because I can take the risk of losing a buyer. Thats why BuyDomains prices its names so high. They know they'll get tons of buyers.

Regarding your name, $500 is a good enough ROI. Though it definitely is an end user, so you could've easily fetched upto $2000 for it (a buyer always offers his lowest; $500 is the lowest so that means the highest would be much more).

$500 is a bit low, Imo, This name has extremely nice development potential, as well as revenue potential. I would consider hanging onto this name, Unless you just need money right now.

this website has good potential. And I think $500 is a little low. How many visitors do you get a month? What is your parking revenue?

Thanks for the advice!

How do I counter offer on Afternic? I just says counter offer by lowering asking price, which I did. But how do I actually counteroffer? Thanks!

50 times the price you paid sounds like a good return to me - how long have you been trying to sell it ?

Umm, it received an offer 2 days after I put it on Afternic.

I really don't wanna let it go for $500. I understand some of you think it's only worth that much, but I disagree. It's a great name, easily remembered, encompasses so many things, and it's a very popular category.

Thanks for your advice, everyone!

Why don't you park it and see how much parking revenue it generates. Then it'll be easier to estimate the value of the domain. For generic type-in domains, the value of the domain is somewhere between 5 to 7 years parking revenue.

How long have you owned this domain?

Edit*
I just visited your domain, and is it parked at Sedo? How's the revenue so far? Bear in mind according to a lot of members, Sedo pays less than the other parking service.

Yeah, I just parked it after all your tips to check traffic/revenue. It was just sitting there before...never thought about type-ins.

Anyways, I'll let you know...but only 20 hours until auction at afternic on the domain closes! Kinda confused at what I should do....wait until the auction ends then contact the buyer? I'm not even sure how to contact him...just gives me a username...

Well, I rejected the offer of $500 and sent the buyer a message letting him know I felt it was worth more and he could bid accordingly. However, right after I sent the message and the auction closed...it wouldn't let me re-open the listing on afternic.

So now I have no way of getting in contact with him, and he has no way of bidding on my domain.

So yeah, guess I'm hanging onto this one for a while, heh. Just thought I'd let you all know.
