3 different Whois searches, Namecheap and GoDaddy say a domain is available but....

3 different Whois searches, Namecheap and GoDaddy say a domain is available but when I type the domain address into a browser it takes me to a website!

How can that be?

That's a tough one to discern. If it's parked it's not your typical looking parked site.

I'd say it must be an actual site.

All unregistered .ws names takes you by default to a Website.ws parking page.

I think GoDaddy put's domains up for auction way way before the owner is even notified its going to expire (that's if the whois searches were for an auction name)

if you win the bid with godaddy you then have to wait 60 days incase the owner wants the domain back !!

I have two domains on hold with Godaddy at the moment.

Yes, it was a .ws

Well I'm a sucker that just blew a registration fee for menus.ws

Now I have to figure out how to unload the domain.

PART 2--->NOW THIS IS TOO WEIRD!--there must not be any rules/regulations for .ws TLD registrars.

I had checked several different whois and registrars regarding menu.ws (not menus.ws) and all of them said, "taken" for menu.ws.

Then as I was looking for alternatives/options to menu.ws, godaddy said to consider the option of menu.ws!!! What the heck?

So I went ahead and registered it.

But before registering it I checked for a website. It was a sedo parked site.

What happened here? I wouldn't be the bit surprised if I don't actually own this domain even though I have a receipt from godaddy.

very strange. I wouldn't be surprissed if godaddy messed up on that one.

I just received an email from godaddy which basically said, 'we have had trouble registering the domain, we will continue for 24 hours. If we are unable to register it we will refund your account.'
