Hmm, well that's sure odd. D-:
I was searching domains to register at GoDaddy today and found one that GoDaddy claimed unavailable. So then immediately I open my NameCheap tab in my FireFox browser window and check to see the domain's WHOIS using NameCheap, and alas! NameCheap said it was available, but yet GoDaddy said it wasn't!

So I registered the domain at NameCheap!
So WTF is going on!? Was GoDaddy trying to steal a domain or what?

.US domains.US domains
That happens alot on my searches with godaddy...
First check the 2 I got said unavailable, an hour later they became available
so I just registered the 2 there and their still showing available...lol

UPDATE: took awhile but they are now in my cpanel :)
First time for such a delay, but they were 2 .de names
they said sometimes that server is down hence the delay...

I heard people complaining GoDaddy from time to time. I don't understand why so many people still use them.

I figure with a company that big and the amount of daily searches they must get, it's probably just legitimate errors in their software, and not anything fishy going on.

Godaddy has many problems with those searches. At least myself have seen many times, that domains are not availible. Best way to check is it availible or not, is just tho whois it.
Easy, free and nice & quick.

I am a godaddy conspiracy theorist. For some reason I had the idea to try and reg transfergraphics.com and found it was avail. I got sidetracked and forgot to reg it. Went back to get it and it was regged by some other reseller. I am certain something is up because it was regged within a day after I initially searched for availability. I need Alex Jones to get to the bottom of this! :alien:

Perhaps they are "tasting" the domain. If so they will probably let it go after 5 days, if there is not enough traffic to justify keeping it.

Of course if it re-appears that means it doesn't get much traffic.

I registered a domain with GD yesterday and got an email a few hours later saying "Ooops, sorry, not available after all, here's a refund". Looks like a genuine screwup though, the domain has been registered at Enom since Jun 9th.

GoDaddy showed FilmNoir.tv was not available, but .tv corp showed as available.....so I called GoDaddy, and they registered it for me, in spite of their database showing it as unavailable.

Conversely, Dotster is still showing I own a couple of domains that have been sold, so out of date databases seem to be the norm in this fast changing environment.
