Just saw this case on X.
Ryan owns 7,500 domain names.

In the first month, he priced them all at $28,888 - and got 1 sale.
In the second month, he priced them all at $2,499 - and got 5 sales.
In the third month, he priced them all at $499 - and got 45 sales.

I don’t have a clear conclusion here.
Let’s say you have 7,500 domains, what would you do?
Would you experiment, keep the $28,888 pricing for a year and hope for more sales?
Or would you lower the prices to $499 and just focus on volume to cover renewals?

How many domains do you have?

It’s impossible for all domains to have the same value. Yes, if you’re selling books (for example), every copy of the same book has the same value, but with domains, that’s never the case.

You must also let expire those that are of zero quality, registered after a night of heavy drinking.

or sometimes during...

Think outside the box: keep the price high, turn on lease-to-own with a monthly payment of about $500, and you get free money from people who just want to experiment and test the traffic, who will probably cancel after a few months.

A :poop: name at $10, is still a :poop: name at $28,888. Even more so.

I decided that I would put 107 domains for sale, on Afternic, for $28,888 each (and lease option). None of them are worth $29k, but I thought it would be fun to live in hope.

If you want a laugh, my domains list is here https://www.afternic.com/profile/sjpals

The views I am getting on the domains (they nearly all use the Afternic custom lander) are no more than the views I was getting at parking at Bodis (which is not many at all).

Its been 2 months. A 'normal' STR of 1% would mean a sale within 12 months, but I don't think, at $29k, I will get a sale at that price EVER!! :xf.grin:

What were your prices like before and how were your sales before the price change?

I just priced 1,400 domains on Atom at $499. I’ll let you know the outcome of the experiment.

Great example showing pricing tests reveal liquidity faster than patience alone ever will.

I wasnt really selling any. I have a habit of collecting, not selling. I have only ever sold a couple, and they ranged from $10 - $100

You made me curious to check your Atom portfolio. Let us know which domains you sell as part of this experiment.

@Charles Sweeney Please let me know if you’ve resolved the “new device detected” issue with NameSilo. If the problem persists, you can enable 2FA, once it’s turned on, the “new device detected” code will no longer be required.

Thanks, bud. I generally don't use 2FA, I find it a pain. I have resolved the issue, I have transferred the name to dynadot and will probably do the same with the other names I have on NameSilo.

I have used NameSilo for years, initially because they were the cheapest but that's no longer the case. Plus I have always found the web interface to be a nightmare.

Charles, thanks for being a long-time customer. If you’re not using our discount program yet (which offers .com domains for $10.80), you can also use the code LEONID10 for a 10% discount on orders up to $2,000.

I really appreciate your feedback!
Hardest part about domaining is staying on topic.
