Here is a funny quote from a previous years list of brands that wont be around.....

"Fannie Mae (NYSE: FNM) and Freddie Mac (NYSE: FRE) were on our earlier list. We were wrong about them closing. They have become β€œwards of the state,” kept open by the US government to help maintain an orderly mortgage market. It is estimated that keeping the two firms open costs taxpayers about $7 billion a month. The companies lost a combined $291 billion in 2009. Members of Congress are pushing to have the companies shuttered. It is almost certain that they will not be around, at least in their current forms, much longer. One estimate is that the cost of supporting the two companies will total $1 trillion, making it more likely that they will be closed in the favor of other alternatives to maintain the mortgage market.

You know shits in trouble when Moody's is listed as brand that's going away.

What? You mean the credit rating agency that couldn't rate credit? You mean the financial risk management company that didn't see the stink of ....

Oh.. whatever. I see sales of rope, pain pills and razor blades increasing..

Did you miss the financial recovery?

This is because of the financial recovery. They say we're ok now. I was commenting on the fact that Moody's made the list in the first place - when you're responsible for the reporting of the stability and credit rating of the major components of the financial infrastructure you're in dire straights!

The list contains brands that will be bought strategically which is not the same list Pets.Com was on :)

I still can't see a world without Sears. That's huge to me and marks a massive tipping point. People underestimate the value of an anchor store in a mall, imho.

Saab now own by a small auto company Spyker that knows how to run on a auto industry "shoestring" budget so maybe an order for 600 cars can get them over the hill and into another year.

I hope so. I used to like Saab until I fell in love with the Audi/VW brand :)

Be a shame to see them go.

Futuristic forecasts are interesting, but they should take into attention more factors to be at least something near to the reality.

"Blockbuster" Yeah, I believe they will turn to dust; all except their new video machines at the grocery store.

But even those machines were supposed to be replaced with flash drive loaders. The thought on that was You'd never have to return the movie disc, and it would only last for a predetermined time frame on the free keychain flash drive you got for signing up.

But online access to movies has nixed even that one, it's amazing how solid the blockbuster franchise once was 10 years ago, and today most of them are just watching all the stores close.
