While recovering from the past weekend of scattered deals and in anticipation of the next SuperSale, I am weary of having several threads related to the SuperSales at Domain - MyDomain - NetFirms - Dotster.

Since the promos often work at more than one reseller, I would love to have a single thread to watch and participate in, if you agree, hang out here and watch this thread!

All NPers are welcome to post coupons and promos here as long as they are Domain - MyDomain - NetFirms - Dotster. That way we all have a better chance at awesome savings as soon as the promos are live!

The usernamex Guide to SuperSales

SuperSales are promotions done by the family of registrars under Domain.com, including MyDomain.com NetFirms.com Dotster.com

About every 10 days to two weeks, one or more of these registrars runs what I like to call SuperSales - with dot COM / NET domain registrations for bargain prices, $1.99 - $2.99 - $3.99. Sometimes the specials are good for multi-year registrations, sometimes only the first year is discounted.

The super fun part is they let you use coupons ON TOP of the promo, so there have been specials as low as $1.39, $1.59 is more common, and $1.99 is still great any time!

If you are new, the best choice is usually MyDomain, since their renewals are second best (to Domain) and I have not seen the $1.99 special ever offered at Domain direct

A great way to get an account set up is NOT during the frenzy of the SuperSales, and a trick you can use without having to contact support is to buy the easiest to type/remember cheapest domain you can, like whatever ngTLD is on sale for $1.99, that will be your username. You can drop the domain after a year and your account will be fine. Otherwise get on chat and they can set you up ahead of time without having to make a purchase.

To make it easy for everyone, if you can BOLD any coupon codes, that would be super, and if you tested coupons successfully, please mention the reseller where you tested.

I was thinking about how to do a push to a buyer easier at Domain/com and related co's

When someone buys domain - what about setting up another account at the same reseller and pushing the domain to the new account.

Then, when everything is done and set, just give the buyer the login info.

What do you think?

I have done this before, but only after I had the buyer's details, I have opened the account for them, push the domain there and after that they don't have to do anything else just to change the security details.

I thought it would be interesting to note the time span between the last two Dotster $1.99 promos.

There was one started on December 1, 2016. and the next one was the last one that just ended and it started on January 13, 2017.

So there was a span of about 6 weeks between promos.

Looking forward to the next one already.

Does anyone know if Dotster has a feature to accept or decline a domain transfer (like Godaddy) located inside your account.

Or do they do it with an email like NameCheap.

I want to know how easy and fast it is to transfer a domain out of Dotster.

Is there a way to speed it up or do you have to wait the week or so until it is done at the registry?

Thanks.

Don't know of a way to speed it up. Maybe UNX does.

OK so I just completed pushing SIX domains in three batches to test the process. We used the easy as pie method shared by @alcy with a twist of changing whois first.

TL:DR version
1] SELLER changes whois to Buyers whois contact info in Sellers control panel, can be done for single domain or in bulk.
2] BUYER verifies whois change by email. Seller not required to do any whois verification.
3] SELLER gets on chat and requests names be removed from sellers account, wait for chat to confirm removed.
4] BUYER uses "Add Existing" to add the name to their control panel, refresh Domain Central, name is pushed.

This method only requires SELLER to know their own security answer to provide to chat in step 3 AND does NOT require the buyer to have to update whois after the push is completed.

New Coupon 15% PROTECT offer ends January 19, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific

*LIMITED TIME OFFER. PROTECT coupon and offer ends January 19, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. PROTECT coupon is good for 15% off all new products and services with no minimum purchase required.

Remeber to IGNORE the fine print and try it anyway to work on transfers and renewals. Not a great coupon for transfer or renewal but better than nothing if you are close to deadline.

PROTECT can be used to transfer and renew at Netfirms too. I can confirm that.

But plz if anyone can see you domains at MyDomain? I can log in but where are they? I can not check the price with the new code.

I confirm that this code PROTECT works well on Dotster & MyDomain for transfer, 15% off orders

Yes, my domain panel was missing all domains. Don't know what happened. The other days, the same thing was at Netfirms but its ok now.
Update: I see them now.

weird.. you must be calling during some weird hours and when they hook you up with philipins or india or some other place. p.s. I love those places and people.... just not on tech supports.

then service quality seems to go down. and I feel this way too.

but when I call during day.. I'm in canada.. I actually find their support the best I ever had anywhere.. and I even make sure to stick around for survey each time!

Will the buyer be able to open an account without a domain in it without having to go through chat?
