Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I think TurnkeyVR sounds better. You should get both if you are interested in it. Personally I don't understand what it would be used for. But then again there is alot of things i dont understand.

There are three,

The truth is that at this point I still have the impression that I do not know anything.

I have seen this wonderment in this thread and others many times.

VR + keyword or keyword + VR

I concluded some time ago that It requires some thought

keyword + VR would be found more in branding.

While the following will only hold true about 80% of the time...
Brands want their name first. But you must ask yourself is the "keyword" a concept or a thing. Brands are more of concept and/or descriptive names.

Sometimes a thing can also be a concept.
VR is both and is why it can be used either way with a proper keyword.

VR + keyword
(my favorite example) VRgoggle as goggle is a thing. VR becomes a adjective to it.
VRmovies does not make a good brand. But neither does moviesVR as movies is not a concept, it is a thing..

So the beauty is in the holder's eye as to definition/use of of KEYWORD.

VRcandlestick makes no sense whatsoever. -Thing.

CandlestickVR sounds like a possible brand.-Concept.
Candlestick has some meaning as to the nature of the company Or something they are trying to convey. What that could be is beyond me but a example.

Think of no more than OculusVR.com , but they did buy the name Oculus.com sometime a few months ago.

Hopefully, that at least provokes some thinking about it even though it is not completely accurate.

I watched the Simpsons for the first time in a long time last night, and to my surprise the episode plot was based around a pair of augmented reality glasses.

Goes to show how the powers that be are prepping the masses for VR/AR/MR ect.

Well, A couple of new reg's

I had been looking for both brands and soft porn titles.
So I pulled from my short list today...

50shadesVR
fiftyshadesVR

Think I killed 2 worms with that bird. Did not think they would last much longer.

My bulk VR domain auction has stalled at $80... Still plenty of time left and getting the views/watchers. Hopefully someone will start the bidding again soon... ;)

Just so you understand better,

No exclusive use of 50 shades without grey.
If the site were to represent the "movie creator, producers and the like" 50 shades of grey or the new DARKER, that could be a problem but you have a hard time owning the 2 generic words when at least 3 are needed for the mark.

Think of JC Penny, Wal Mart, Dunham Sports etc. It takes all words in the mark. Nobody owns/marks the individual words. Only when used as a whole as described in the mark.

Oculus is a generic word. Oculus VR does not own the word OCULUS even though they do now own Oculus.com now. It is and has been a generic word. If you did use it in a domain and represent Oculus VR in any way, you might have a case against you. But that would be the same with any name. The mark is Oculus VR.

You are allowed ONLY one mark for your company and subsequently a mark for each products.
That is what you can be protected with the law. The mark is a name, service or product.

I did have to laugh last year when Google was turned down for the mark "GLASS" because it was to generic. But it was a interesting read how they tried to do it.

Just a FYI as I do read a lot of incorrect assumptions on the topic.

I know man, just imo its better to stay away from those kind of names(names that looks like tm even if they are not). It will be better for your further cases. just my opinion... Like i said good luck.
