Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Any offers/sales to report?
I see VRwood still with one bid @1600 on sedo.
Would be nice to see 2/3 VR names on DNJ report to spike interest.
Things normally pretty quite for jul/aug. We shall see.

I would stay away from 3 word names in this niche, they will be very difficult to sell and 98% end up dropping/expiring in a year or 2

I think strong VRKeyword.com (only keywords that make sense) names are the way to go and will really be the only names that will sell (for decent $$ anyway) in the future, and the obvious nice brandables as well like they do in every emerging tech

If you have a look at the emerging tech domain threads in the last 5 years (cloud, 3D, etc), you will see its really only the strong keywords that sell, besides the smaller sales that are just between domainers.

Rather go and spend $200-$1000 (depending on the quality) and hold onto for a few years, your chance of flipping it will be much higher

Names like these are the ones that will sell in the future IMO

LiveVR..VRSports...VRMedia..VRGames...VRForum...VREntertainment...VRAction..TrueVR..VRMovies....tec

I havent been too involved in buying VR names, I think Holo names are a better option as the whole VR craze comes around every few years and doesnt seem to really become mainstream. There are forums and articles of people registering VR names pre-2008 and some of them are still holding those same names

Just my opinion folks...I do hope it becomes a huge hit for you all

It's all about demand.
Higher demand for keywords, make higher prices.

There is room for 3words (of value) but not until 2words and .net .org (tld's) fill out.
Of course, we are all trying to guess ahead where that demand will be. ;)

Much we will not know until folks start using the tech.

I do see some future growth with 4D/Holo but at a latter time.
I'm very lightweight there.

Most of the time in tech niches you wont have .org (and sometimes .net as well) developed at all, companies just arent interested in them, some might reg them just for brand protection, but most don't give a damn about other extensions

Maybe some short 3 word names will work, but they will have to be shortish

keyword + vr also have their market, so far most companies are adopting this way, although few vr sales have been made, some of the most important have been keyword + vr (rivervr - sexvr).

Saludos,
Mario.

Maybe, but they wont be as popular as VRKeyword, just say it out loud and you will see what sounds better and makes more sense

However...

something like CoolVR.com or SmartVR.com for instance will be good because they are descriptive words

For all our sakes, let's hope that the two forms succeed.

VRvivid.com
This "could" be a TM issue. There are a couple of TM's that could come in to play. I had debated picking this but decided against it.

(If you decide to remove this name from your post to keep a low profile, I will edit mine to remove it as well.)

Putting my crystal ball in action... (speculation)

I see:
GearVR Launch of Consumer version with Note5 in sept.
Valve taking pre-orders in Nov for Dec delivery (no lighthouse yet)
Oculus taking preorders in dec for feb delivery

Sony releasing final product spec's and price in nov/dec to keep interest in their product, but not shipping date. I am not sure they can muster this tech at a good price. Despite what others said, they were never in the VR space, just 3D space and they were very slow and pricey with that.

StarVR will have a price and date by Dec

Several new players will announce entering the market with 4k HMD's by nov/dec with releases in 2q/3q 2016
Jan-feb-mar 2016 will be filled with news of a bunch of cool and stupid things folks are using VR for. But the top of which will be VR sportscasting in NBA and NFL as they do this in a limited way (experimental) for consumers.

I see apple entering the market with iphone 7 announcements in april/may 2016 probably with leaked news.

By may/june 2016 we should have a pretty good idea where the dust is going to land as far as name categories in demand as we start to see the real uses that folks are in need/want of.

Remember most all of this is speculation.... Have a good weekend !

vrheadsetshop
vrgadgetshop

Soon I will have to renew and not know what to do.

Saludos y gracias,

I actually think keyword+vr will do better in the long term rather than vr+keyword. I know this seems to be a different view from the majority, I just see more "use" to those names if that makes sense.

On a commercial level I also think it will be used more keyword + vr, and that "could" mean a greater economic value.

This one goes out to my "Mobile VR" prospectors:

"It will take several years to answer the question if VR will fulfill its promise of a becoming mainstream. One thing that is certain is that mobile VR is going to be the mainstream access point for consumers. Mobile VR will drive VR in volume, VR content, and overall VR revenue for all but the most committed gamers, whose needs will be met by Facebook Oculus, Sony Morpheus, and HTC -Valve among others and whose price points are likely $499 and above. The mobile VR market is less defined. Google Cardboard is currently selling for $10 and is well, made of cardboard. While it is designed to work with most Smartphones, it is a DIY device, really targeted at developers. Samsung Galaxy Gear VR runs $200 and is designed to run on the Oculus SDK. Its major drawback? It only works with Samsung devices. The mobile VR market is still wide open, and one company in particular is working to solve some of these and VR’s challenges, a company called IonVR."

All bold, underlining and italics were done by me. Just a little quote from Forbes!

This term is going to be normally said, as this will be the only way to describe "Mobile VR" like ... "Where's your mobile VR set?"

I really dont think so bro, i have 300 names on VR and 0 mvr. Thats why my opinion may not be objective enough. But let me explain my thoughts with your style.

We dont say "where is your mobilephone" or "where is your cellphone" in our daily life. We say "where is your phone".

Thats it.

Good luck anyway...

I only have the 1 MVR domain (mvr3d.com ;)), but I still feel it is a term that will be used. Using your example I would definitely say "where us your cellphone?" I am maybe more likely just to say "phone" but I cannot say I never say "cell phone", because I do; and I say it a lot...

MVR is being used as the acronym for Mobile VR...

Any offers/sales to report?

Still pretty quiet this week. It's a holiday week, so a lot of decision makers checked out mentally on Monday. Inquiries and offers should pick up next week Tuesday.

Summer is always slow for domains in general. You can find good ones for cheap at auction out there, and the inquires don't come in as much.

mid-late Q3 & Q4 is when companies are into burning their budgets to justify next years spends. Hang in there!
