Johnson is a sensible Christian ... He shouldn't read scripture at the podium while conducting official Gov business though. Respect has to given to all in the fact that America is a country of freedom of religion. it's not any Americans right to infringe on that right IMO

There is nothing sensible about him. He's a fundamentalist type. A lot of crazy stuff has come out about him after he got Speaker.

Here's the problem with that flawed thinking. You can't be anti-semitic if you are showing support for semites. Palestinians are semites too. The big lie of anti-semitism is that it can only apply to oppression of Jewish people. Anti-Muslim oppression/hate is anti-semitism too, yet that seems to have no boundaries within the MAGA community.

It's a jurisdictional thing. The Mississippi was considered international waters for a long time to allow trading vessels to come inland. Anyone with a British passport was allowed to navigate the Mississippi uninhibited. I'm not sure if or when that ended. Because the river was technically not in Louisiana then, the gambling laws that applied in Louisiana didn't apply on the river.

the problem with the specific issue is that if we have law across the board that apply to all states equally. then there is no reason to have individual states in the country? state by state law allows for diversity of law and beliefs throughout the whole country IMO

This is precisely why the People should vote on Abortion , If Ohio has 57% of its people that wish Abortion to be legal, then Abortion should be legal in Ohio. Legislators have been over ruling the People for far to long.
