Yes, I know. It shows you that before, you had to pay less for a sale over $25K than you have to pay now...
Ah ok, I see what you're saying now.

$100,000 sale
before would be $14,000 - 10% (10,000) plus $4,000
now it would be $15,000 - 15% of 10,000

I've had all my domains at make offer on Atternic for a while now - will now completely remove them as I am not paying 25% for their services......

Been using DAN but will now remove my domains and use Sedo landers with BIN - had a few of my .org pointing there for a bit now and it seems OK to me.

I only have one domain with Godaddy and that's for my website

I have not put my SquadHelp domains onto the Afternic network and have no intention of doing so......

Time for me personally to break away from this shitty monopoly.......

This 25% is for domains not using any of the nameservers listed on https://www.afternic.com/sales-acceleration

Afternic Fast Transfer will be 15% in the new structure, as long as you're using nameservers listed there.
They want to eliminate any kind of competition. I wonder what kind of move is this one, when you want to be a monopoly and punish your users in their fees commission when you are using a competitor's landing page.

1) It's now 25% commission with dan through bodis ?
2) It's now 25% commission on afternic+dan for expiring domains as registrar change automatically dns ?

For 1) I can manage the lead myself and import it to dan
For 2) I have no option as sales are made with afternic and dns are not choosed by me (i make a few sales like that per month)

what about zero NS (not pointing at all)? Any idea?
No idea. Also: people using http redirects, or their own nameservers, or their portfolio sites with links to marketplaces, etc.

Check it again: :xf.wink:

Before it would be $11,500 ($4,000 +10% of amount over $25k).

Now it would be a flat $15,000

(y)

** By the way, on the same $100K sale, you would be charged $890 at Escrow.com... $15,000 vs $890 (or $1,780 using concierge service)

Actually, the Afternic decreased from 20% to 15%.

I'm actually not too torn up about this. While I don't like increases, I think 15% is actually pretty fair. 9% was real nice but an increase was not unexpected. I'll just keep that in mind when it comes to pricing.

All my domains are either Afternic/Dan landing pages and now with the distribution network, that goes down from 20% to 15%.

I understand those that don't have those landing pages will now go up to 25% if I'm reading that correctly. That's just their way to move people over to their platform, to get that 15% instead of 25%.

I'm still paying for Efty, so I could always switch it back to those landing pages in the future. But right now I like the ease and reach of Dan/Afternic.

Afternic decreased to 15% but they made it flat rate to compensate.. so sellers now will pay more commission in higher sales.

Afternic used to have the following commission:
  • Domain names sold between $0-$5000 will be charged a 20% commission, with a minimum of $15 set.
  • If you sell a domain name for over $5k up to $25k, the charge is $1000, plus 15%.
  • For domains over $25k, you are charged $4000, plus 10%.

Why remove the make offer? Use Afternic to get some exposure for your domains. If you get offers, you can ignore them or quote a much higher price. People who are serious enough will at least check the landing page and may contact you.

At some point of time (before Afternic was purchased by GD I think) GoDaddy had a premium listing service for GD-regged domains where the domains were searchable and could be purchased on GoDaddy and it was 30% fee. It worked. Actually, at that time the GD search results were not yet full of low quality hugedomains domains, which is why 30% was acceptable commission. Maybe afternic remembers this and decided that the new scheme is a good deal??

Not to mention the big move, that's increasing to 25% on their sales through Afternic when you don't have your domains pointed to them.
That's a total monopoly move. Be with my landers or pay 10% more in commission.

@James Iles

In this scenario:

- Domain lander pointed to DAN, using ns1.dan.com and ns2.dan.com nameservers
- Domain is listed both on DAN and Afternic (using separate accounts)
- The domain sells through the (extended) Afternic Premium Network
- What will be the new Afternic commission: 15% or 25%?

Thanks.

How is this done? How can we set all names on Afternic to Make Offer only?
I'm not sure I understand the question. There may be an issue with domains listed at brandable marketplaces, since they require a BIN at Afternic. But anything else... you just set to Make Offer instead of BIN.

Uni just sent out an email:

Hello,

Over the last few years, we’ve worked hard to bring the best features from the Uniregistry Market to the Afternic platform to ensure we can provide you with the same experience that you’ve come to love at Uniregistry Market.

One common issue we heard from our Uniregistry Market sellers is around the confusion and unnecessary friction that having separate commission structures between For Sale Landers and Afternic Network causes. As we plan for the future, there is a need for us to align the various commission structures to one single plan. Doing so will make pricing simpler for you, as you can be confident you will net the same amount across all marketplaces. It will also make the commission easier to understand than our varied commission structures across marketplaces.

On February 1, 2023, the following sales commissions will go into effect. This new commission plan will reward those who choose to do more business with GoDaddy by using any of our For Sale Lander options with a reduced commission on their sales, regardless of where it is sold. If your domain is pointed to one of our nameservers (Uniregistry, Dan, or Afternic) when it sells, then you will automatically receive a commission rate of a flat 15%. For those already using our For Sale Landers, this will be a significant reduction in commissions on sales generated through the Syndication Network.

New Commission Model:
  • Domains pointed to Nameservers at Uniregistry Market, Afternic or Dan, are charged a flat 15% of Sale Price regardless of where it sells whether on the Network or through the landers directly.
  • Domains not pointed to Nameservers at Uniregistry Market, Afternic, or Dan are charged the standard commission rate, which is a flat 25% of Sale Price
To ensure that your domains will receive the reduced commission of 15% please take the time to review your nameservers and update them accordingly.

For a list of our approved nameservers, and to learn more about how pointing your nameservers to Uniregistry and Afternic can help maximize the revenue of your domain investments, please visit our Sales Acceleration page.

@James Iles has his work cut out for him here, as GoDaddy liaison to the domain investment community.
Good luck defending this decision and spinning it like it is beneficial to customers in any way.

9% to 15% = 60% increase in Dan.com commission

Then they also raised Afternic commissions on higher dollar sales.

And don't forget the best one... increase from 15% to 25% commission if you are not using their landers.

I really ask (myself) a question... does Godaddy have a clue about Anti-monopoly policies? Because when you have a product (afternic commission on sales through Godaddy or their registrar network) and increase the price a 10% just because you are not using one of their services (pointing a landing page to their DNS servers) it sounds to me like a big MONOPOLY move.

The most galling part is this is framed like some beneficial move for domain owners.

Everything in this world is supply and demand. All these comments are water off a ducks back to them . The only way to change something is act with your feet and walk away. Move to a lower commission site or have your own landing pages. These big companies with massive overheads cannot survive without the customers. So if your really unhappy walk away and force a change

Bad news for DAN.

At least they could reduce the minimum bid to $20. $99 is too high.
