What I posted was a suggestion to Sav. I won a domain and now I have to wait for buyer to provide transfer code to Sav.

I fully agree with you.
Just to clarify that I m talking about auctions for domains registered in SAV.
The let the owner transfer out the domain, while it is participating in the auction!

That should not be happening. Domain should be locked once it’s in auction.

It has happen to me 4 times. And the response I get is that something went wrong, they don't know what, they apologize and they refund me...

Hi @Sav.com , perhaps you might want to look into a glitch on the backorder reminder via email:

Hello ___ ,

The following backorder requests from your account will be attempted on 12/31/1969

Not a big deal if the function is still accurate .... but the date is not looking very good :)

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. As of this time our support team has resolved the issue.

Have you started working on using sav payouts to be used as funds?

A few months ago, I reported that the whois server address was incorrect in the whois information. It was subsequently corrected.

Recently, the wrong URL has reappeared again. I wrote back to support 2-3 weeks ago but it still seems unfixed.

Displayed: whois-service.virtualcloud.co
Correct: whois.virtualcloud.co

In addition, some extensions have direct contact form URL in their whois information, while others do not.

If potential buyers cannot reach me via whois, I cannot sell domains. If I can't sell, I can't buy new domains from SAV. Pretty simple math isn't it?

@Nick R @Sav.com

After admitting to an issue with backorder notifications (once again, this has happened several times a year for past few years), the Sav customer service rep who responded to my ticket told me to just delete the unwanted domains and that i'd be refunded. Deleted 15 domains, then was only refunded for 5, and then basically told tough shit, only getting 5 refunded, and the other domains were not able to refund or reinstate.

I can get past the broken notifications, i can get past not even wanting to refund. But to tell consumers to delete domains for a refund, with NO understanding if you'll actually be refunded in full, and no way to reinstate the domains if we're not refunded, is absolutely misleading and awful customer service.

My credit card company i'm sure will have no problem covering this in a dispute, but i shouldn't have to go down that road. What gives???

@Traderas - They are allowed to bid on future auctions BUT all bids they place will be pre-authed to ensure they have the funds to pay for their winning bid, should they be the high bidder. The auction will most likely get restarted too. If you want to DM me the details with the domain names I would be happy to take a look.

@alcy - We do not place a 60-day lock on domains transferred in nor do most registries. Some registries do place their own lock on domains that get transferred though. It sounds like that may be the case. Feel free to DM me the domain and we can confirm.

@silentg - That is something that we are considering. Regarding the ticket, feel free to DM me your email address and the ticket subject and I'll take a look.

@blogspotter - We have and are working on rolling this out as a bigger update later this year.

@kor - Both are used by us. One of them is the web UI, and one of them is the true port 43 WHOIS.

@CraftNames - Can you DM me your email address and the ticket subject. Let me take a look at the exact details and see what is going on.

So I don't really get why I would spot a domain on the drop at ED, do my research, it's available, I search for it on SAV .com it's available, I quickly proceed to buy, only to be told that order was unsuccessful and I'll be refunded
Just for me to check whois and the domain was registered on the same sav .com and have nameservers pointing to after.nic every dammn time.

Happened again tonight. This is not the first, second, third or fourth time I'm experiencing this, only at sav!! You guys believe some of us are really dumb yea. Think this cheap .com prices is now starting to really purge. Should start looking at other alternatives...

Hi, I had similar issue, what i did is I log in at 3 different registrars at the same time, so they don't have time to reg my names.
You can reg cheap .com domains at Z.com and cosmotown.com, later move them to SAV after the lock can be removed.
Not sure why other domainers waste their time with other registrars like Godaddy beast, monster when there are cheaper alternatives.

You cannot explain this to the end user.

The person looks at whois information, sees the whois server address, enters it in the browser. If it does not open, closes the window and leaves. Nobody has the time or knowledge to deal with ports or technical details.

My complaint was pretty straightforward. Please read again, emphasize and be solution oriented.

I must also say that it is a great achievement to be able to give such irrelevant answers every time! Politics is hard work.

Question: I have sold a few names in the SAV marketplace auction over this past week.

After the auctions ended I was asked to provide transfer codes (which I did), but I have not heard anything since then. My marketplace dashboard shows zero sales, there has been no communication by SAV within their platform or by email, and the domains I sold are still sitting with my other registrar. I know that transfers can take time, but shouldn't there be a message letting people know that the process has at least started?

@Macanthony - DM me the domain name, and your Sav account and ill take look at the status of the domain name when you added it to the cart, and the status when you checked out. It sounds like the domain name was registered between the time you added it to the cart and checked out. You can just do a WHOIS on the domain as well. There are a lot of people who use the list on ExpiredDomains.net and we have seen this many times before.

@iTesla - We are integrating new TLDs almost weekly and usually announce them on here. We don't have any dates for these specific ones but will see if we can move them to the top of the list.

@kor - We try to make this really easy by just adding a WHOIS link to the bottom of each page on Sav. Just click that.

@CK_Yau - Let me bump this internally and see what we can do in the next few months. Feel free to request any TLD you want!

@HighPointGuy - You can track the progress of these transfers in the Transfers tab of Sav. To speed this along, just ACK the transfer at the losing registrar. You will get an email alert again on the domain arrives and the funds have been added to your account.

Thanks @Nick R

Good to see backorder for .me / .cc :)

@kor - We try to make this really easy by just adding a WHOIS link to the bottom of each page on Sav. Just click that.

.co whois returns:
Tech Email: Please query the RDDS service of the Registrar of Record identified in this output for information on how to contact the Registrant, Admin, or Tech contact of the queried domain name.

.org whois returns:
Tech Email: Select Contact Domain Holder link https://www.privacyprotection.com/?domain=***.org

.group whois returns:
Tech Email: Please query the RDDS service of the Registrar of Record identified in this output for information on how to contact the Registrant, Admin, or Tech contact of the queried domain name.

.io whois returns:
Tech Email: Select Contact Domain Holder link https://www.privacyprotection.com/?domain=***.io

There seems to be no consistency and you are not testing your infrastructure properly.

This is a very simple change. You just need to write "whois." instead of the wrong "whois-service." subdomain. That's all!

If you can't do it, give me the server password and I'll handle it in two minutes.

Getting this error for last 5 days during check out...

"This type of email address is not supported. Please reach out to support to update your email address."

There is no problem in logging into my account...shows the available names...but can't buy names.

This made me register 20+ names outside...

Anyone else getting this error.

It's same on laptop and mobile.

Thanks.

@kor - We do understand and will see what we can do next time we are in there.

@vravis9 - We have recently restricted some types of "alias" email addresses that allow one actual email address to be used for multiple Sav accounts. Please reach out to our support team to update the email address on your account (just click the Help link in the header) and you should be able to start purchasing domains again in no time.

Don't know what alias means in this context...I am using only one email for all my domain registrations and that is same for Sav account.

I didn't try to create any other Sav account.

All of sudden this error started...this is after owning 400+ names at Sav.

Thanks.

Edit: contacted support and their reply is...

Hello Ravi,

Since your email address contains more than one period, our system blocks it from transactions as many spam email accounts contain multiple periods. I am sorry to hear that you have this issue! To resolve it, you will need to update your Sav email address to one that contains one or less periods. Please reply with the email address that you would like to have on file and I will go ahead and change it for you. Sorry about the inconvenience, let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!

Thanks,
Jacob

@Nick R There is nothing except for an empty table in the transfers tab and nothing in the marketplace tab under "recent sales", it is as though these domains never sold. Should I just wait for an email?

Disregard this, I received the funds today.

All right, I never used sav backorders (succesfully) before so here are some questions:

I was the first to place a backorder for a .com some days ago, caught by sav going to auction:

1. First bid was placed on my behalf automatically. Will I get a notification when I get outbid?

2. If I up my bid, will that be a proxy bid or will an upped bid of $1500 set it to that number straight away.

3. How do you deal with last second bidding? Will the auction get extended or what?

Sav faq/blog seems quite generic leaving a lot of room for interpretation.

@Sav.com @Nick R or anyone with backorder experience at sav feel free to chime in!
