Hi all!

We’ve created this thread to make it easier to communicate with us here on Namepros, and we’ll also be posting regular updates on our offers and products. Please feel free to share any feedback and suggestions with us, or to let us know if there’s anything we can assist with.

We’d like to kick things off with an extension of our $7.99 .COM transfer sale, the code “COMTRANS4” has been extended until 23:59 PST on May 31, and there’s no limit on how many domains you can transfer using the code. Every month we have great prices on a wide selection of domains, and you can find a full list of our sales here:

https://www.dynadot.com/sales.html

We’re also excited to share that our CEO, Todd Han, will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) right here on Namepros in the near future, with more information on a date and time coming soon.

Dynadot is an ICANN accredited domain name registrar and web host headquartered in San Mateo, California. Founded in 2002 by a software engineer, our primary focus is engineering and design excellence. Our custom written, state-of-the-art domain and hosting software is stable, fast, and easy to use. From humble beginnings, we have grown steadily and now are home to over 2.6 million domains.

Our goal is to provide our customers with world class registration and hosting services for a reasonable price. Most of our site is fully automated, allowing us to offer some of the lowest prices in the industry. At the same time we strive to provide excellent customer service, and helpful responses to all questions. The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
at this time the account spending level is based only on payments made into your account, rather than proceeds credited to your account, unfortunately.
I am looking to list more domains on DynaDot marketplace. This policy may prevent me from doing this. Withdrawing funds (which is not free for all parties involved), and sending them back? It is illogical and only banks or paypal will win in this case. I do not remember last time I deposited anything to another registrar with marketplace services I am also using...

That's fine, but couldn't non-USD prices be a little better compared to the USD ones? Or this will unfortunately be the price to pay to work with non USD-currencies with you? The thing is that most people may not notice this at first. You expect prices in different currencies to be closely correlated (it usually is, pretty much everywhere). Here, the conversion rates aren't very good for the customers (in non-USD currencies).

EDIT: Why accept these currencies, then? Just make everybody pay and deposit in USD by default, and the conversion will be taken care of by the credit card issuer, bank or paypal. This would be better for customers price-wise (maybe not for you, though).
Our team do check and change exchange rates periodically, however I have asked them to look into the current exchange rates to check if they're able to lower those. Unfortunately, non-USD prices will be slightly higher as we're charged a foreign exchange fee to receive non-USD payments.

We offer multiple currencies to allow international customers to avoid conversion fees from their bank or card issuer, and to also offer more accessible localized payment methods for international customers.

Thank you for your feedback, I see that this has been recently escalated to our upper-management team who are reviewing the policy. We do understand your concerns, as when you spend funds from the marketplace proceeds you are spending your own funds, however, at this time the account spending level is based only on payments made into your account, rather than proceeds credited to your account, unfortunately.

You do also have the option of withdrawing the marketplace proceeds, and as payments from marketplace proceeds don't increase your account spending level, any withdrawals would not reduce your account spending level.

u do realise withdraw money makes u 5%.... then we also pay 5% more to paypal.. that's an insane solution or suggestion vs just keep money there from sale... spend it... count it toward spendings...and save clients 10%... unless u wanna look like folks wanting to get that 5% withdraw fee from people..hmm

  • The Marketplace listing fee is 5% of the listing price. There is no minimum listing fee at this time.
  • The sale proceeds are credited as Dynadot account credit, but can be paid out on request.
https://www.dynadot.com/community/help/question/domain-sale-process

The second sentence quoted above would then be false according to what's said here!? (or misleading).
As for the first one, what does "listing fee" exactly mean? You have to pay just to list (you pay even if it doesn't sell), or you only have to pay if/when it sells. If it's the latter, it would be nice if it were worded differently, as I find it confusing (I really understand you have to pay in any case, just to put it on the marketplace, whatever happens. Unless this is the case?)

There is no requirement to retreive this info anymore... DynaDot still does this (why?). So, most of bulk transfer-ins are delayed (if it is the same losing registrar). Not only Dynadot limits a number of whois queries per IP/day(hour, etc.) to Dynadot-regged domains. Most of other registrars are doing the same...

@Dynadot

Would you so kind as to double check with your tech team on this?

Dynadot try to automatically retrieve the domain's WhoIs information...

In old days we can transfer domains in or out of Dynadot in just 5 mins.

Now I think there is no need and no possibilities to retreive detailed whois info any more.

You wouldn't have to make any up-front payment to list your domain on our marketplace, and the listing fee would only be deducted from the final sale amount once your domain had sold. I will pass your feedback onto our team to see if we can make that clearer, thank you.

Sure, I've escalated this to our engineering team and asked them to look into the current transfer process and check if that can be streamlined.

Thank you for the feedback, support for payments by cryptocurrency is something our team have been looking into as we're aware of the demand, but at this time we wouldn't be able to provide an estimate on if or when we may support Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, unfortunately.

I'm sorry about that, the new coupon code for $7.99 .COM transfers is "COMOVER21".

yer FAQ says there is no extra paypal fee if payout over 500$... I'm in canada... when I emailed yer support about it they said they somehow let me know before deposit is made I'd there is fee.. how do u do this.. do u call paypal and ask if there is fee b4 each deposit?

or can u just confirm 100% what yer FAQ says about no extra paypal fee is true in all cases? else ...well.. u need to change that faq section

Guys,

This company is actually rubbish in terms of customer support.

My ticket got closed due to inactivity but I have been waiting for their response.

27/12/2020: Ticket raised by Dynadot staff
28/12/2020: I respond with a little more clarity
31/12/2020: I ask for an update
05/01/2020: Your ticket has been closed due to inactivity. No response nothing.

I am no longer able to respond to reopen this request.

Ticket #8941

I REPEAT THEY ARE SH**. Take your money and go elsewhere, they are not the cheapest anyways.

Its going to be brutal if they ban me now for calling them out here on the forums.

I can confirm that there'd be no additional fees deducted from your withdrawal if it meets the minimum requirement of $500. If there are any additional fees to be paid to PayPal, they would be covered from our side for payout requests over $500 and wouldn't be deducted from your total payout amount.

If your payout request is under $500, and PayPal charges an additional fee to send the payment, then our team would contact you for confirmation of the fee before issuing the payout.

I'm sorry to hear of this situation and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We certainly wouldn't ban your account for sharing honest feedback, as we value all feedback both positive and negative. I have re-opened the ticket, and have escalated this to our customer service management team to ensure you receive a response.

ok ty .. good to have an official confirmation. sadly like many I must say I'm not overly impressed with yer support. rarely do they give good info. I understand one person cannot know all... but if that is true then isn't it their obligation to go ask around...instead I often simply get the wrong answer... like in this matter here whereby support person basically told me same thing u said for under 500.. but she said it for over 500

either way I'm glad u guarantee canadians at least no extra PayPal charge over 500... but doesnt this mean u send it as mass payment then? same one u told me here earlier u do not do cause u think pp stopped supporting it... I mean how do u send it then... and why not do it under 500 too...ty

@alcy Sadly, what you're describing became pretty common with "supports" of a lot of companies, I feel. This isn't limited to Dynadot (nor to domain companies). Answer to answer, not necessarily to give the correct info :(

@Dynadot

On point.
What we need are updates on bugs corrected already.
Not you will forword this and that to tech guys.

Nice attitude but no real actions like a chat robot as always.

Please show forum name at this page https://www.dynadot.com/account/ instead of finding it in the settings.
Our team have now added the 'forum name' to your account information drop-down menu, in the top-right corner of the page at Dynadot.com. That will now show in the drop-down menu between your own name and email address, thank you again for the feedback.

I'm sorry to hear of your experience, and thank you for letting us know. Our payout policy has undergone several revisions since being introduced, as we have been working to improve the policy based on customer feedback so there may have been a misunderstanding on the agent's part based on a previous element of the policy. I will clarify this with the team and ensure our agents are all up to date on the current policy. We do always encourage our agents to reach out for clarity if they're unsure on a particiar policy or query, and continue to work with our team to improve our collective knowledgebase and provide better service.

As we don't have the mass payment option available we send all payout requests manually, and it's very rare for PayPal to deduct the fee from the receiver's portion of the funds rather than charge ourselves for the fee. In those rare instances we would contact the customer to advise them before submitting the payment, and this appears to depend on the individual account receiving the payment rather than the country the account is registered to. We've been able to send payouts via PayPal to customers around the world with the fee being charged to Dynadot, but occasionally we do come across a payout request where PayPal will deduct the fee from the customer's funds, unfortunately.

Thank you for the feedback, it is entirely understandable to expect an update on reported bugs when they have been addressed and I do apologize for any that have been missed. We'll be sure to work on improving the consistency of our updates in this regard in the future.

If there are any previously reported bugs you had in mind and would like an update on I'd be more than happy to follow up on those for you.
