I just came back from the grocery store and..............WOW!!!!!!!

I went this morning at 7am to Winco, and Winco is a very large supermarket. Twice the size of a regular supermarket.
I just went to buy a normal weeks worth of groceries and the line to get in was around the building.
They were only letting 5 people in at a time when 5 people left.

It took about a half an hour to get in and when I got in 1/4 of the shelves were empty. a lot more were half empty.

But this was the thing, I went there feeling normal, not panicking. But while waiting in line you start to feel really anxious and once I got in and seeing everyone running aroung grabbing arms full of stuff I actually started to panic a little.

Panicking begets more panicking, it was really weird.
I normally spend about $80 to $100 a week on groceries and essentials.

Today I spent $300!!!

This what they were out of, Milk, eggs, toilet paper, frozen vegetables, most fresh vegetables especially potatoes, dog food, can meats like tuna, mac and cheese, most of the chicken was gone but I was able to get what chicken breast they had left, peanut butter, jellies, butter an so on.

The discussion is less about Trump and more about surviving...I flew half way across the continent yesterday, was one of few to wear a mask. CDC says they don't prevent getting it, but I'm sure it helps. Plenty of coughs...don't travel unless you must and wear a mask & use hand sanitizer if you do. Now self-isolating, no symptoms.

I went to the supermarket yesterday and the only shelves that were half empty were the Toilet papers. Everything else is the same and prices are the same!

But, since the local government has imposed a travel ban on the major European countries, closing discos, schools and a whole bunch of other measures, I expect to start seeing more shortages in the next week or so.

This is gonna be awful for local business, since Madeira Island is extremely reliant on tourism, so you can imagine what is gonna happen when you stop tourists from coming for an indeterminate amount of time.

Spain is catching up to Italy really fast and is almost on lock down like Italy. Euopean governments are suddenly scrambling with tougher measures and travel bans...

Yea I see Spain's numbers are shooting up, 1083 new cases today.

So is ours now, yesterday 572 new cases and today its 252 new cases.

Just about all of the schools in the US are closed which means all those kids now need more food at home since they are not eating at school.
This disruption in the Worlds economies is gong to be really bad for a while. I say about a year or so but no less then 9 months.

It will be reflected in the next 3 to 5 quarterly earnings reports.

If what I experienced this morning was just a small sample of what is to come, then OMG! I think I'm gonna need to get me some more Amo!
