I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I recently transferred a .ca to goodaddy for $10
Buyer was insistent his purchase was moved to his account there. So i transfer one of my own at same time just to see
9.99cad
All my .ca will go to daddy come renewal time.

be careful of godaddy, they are the king of upsells, I am moving all my domains away and will never go back, Hexonet, Canspace, Uniregistry are all better pricing, you only get godaddys better pricing if you join there domain club at @$160 a year, but you can walk in off the street at a few registrars and get the same or better pricing with out buying into any "club" if your not int he club you pay $19.99 renewals.

You can always negotiate your renewal pricing as well, you will have more negotiating power if you renew a bunch at the same time, but talk to someone with some pull not the live chat or basic support talk to your account rep.

and keep your eye's open for other registrars that offer a discount to transfer your domains to them, and just rotate your domains around. If you find a great deal for transfers ie $2.99 or there abouts think about moving your whole portfolio, you will at one year on the existing expiry date and save at least $6 on renewals on a 1000 names thats $6k, just a thought.

but I will not be using godaddy unless it is a condition of a sale or they have a blow out sale on a .co or gtld

I am Looking for recommendations for some affordable web-hosting, preferably Canadian site in Canadian dollars. I need to be able to host a wordpress site, I will need to migrate an existing wordpress installation, and I need email. I am currently paying around $100 US per year and am only hosting 1 site so I know I can do way better than that.

Thanks for any advice!

DomainBrothers has a nice site, thanks whoever shared that.
I see some names on my wish list that are registered.:stop:
Very hard to market .ca, marketplace may help and the one forum dedicated mostly to .ca DNC dot CA
is lacking participation
CIRA has sucked at promoting .ca as reg numbers show.

Learn something from this page https://www.domainbrothers.com/sold/

Also noticed @DomainBrothers.com opened an account here but no posts.
@Juana has been posting about them, maybe she has some knowledge to share.
It's interesting (but not surprising) that DomainBrothers.ca goes to an under construction, and the site selling (mainly) .ca domains is DomainBrothers.com!
Looking for anything specifically? I have a few. I'll send a list through via PM if you're interested!
Best of luck with that venture, @Spex! I think there is definitely room for a vibrant, modern place to sell .ca domain names. With the Canadian connection requirement to register, I think it makes sense to have a Canadian specific place, rather than just as part of the big sites like Afternic network, Sedo, Undeveloped, etc.

Has anyone listed on http://excellent.ca/ or even know if they are still active? I ask because everything on their site hasn't seemed to change in months, and I see they don't have the recently announced big .ca sales included under listed domains.

The other site (mentioned earlier in this thread) is https://www.domainbrothers.com/.

Are there other similar sites I don't know about?

Don't really know about the Similar Sites, but DomainBrother is one of the Best Market Place for Canadian Domain Names, recently they have sold Loans.ca for 88k approx as per Dnjournal https://www.dnjournal.com/ytd-sales-charts.htm @MasterOfMyDomains @Secured @MetBob

Some famous drop catch sites are -
Snapnames.com
Enom.com
Pool.com
They all follow same basic logic but there is difference in implementation , size of “network of registrars” , auction phases etc.

Is domaindrothers a registrar too?
Whc.ca is not icann registered according to namesilo, as they told me so.
Just got expiry notice from cira
In french again. I emailed them before when i did a transfer from whc to goodaddy all correspondence was french. They said talk to my registrar daddy. Godaddy said they cant control what language i receive emails in from someone else.
This name was at whc
Anyone ever see ads by cira promoting our extension?
Instead we get a pop up about some ebook when we visit their site.

Jan15,2013 there was 2 million and change .ca booked
5 years later 2.6 million
I think more names get dropped than reg each week now, not sure how they sustain.

I am not with them any more but for the past three years I hosted with HostPapa.ca and found their service great, and servers seemed reliable and fast. By signing up for 3 years I had an average price that was attractive, but when it came time to renew I needed more domains and decided to try another option (I am now at Eco in UK, cause they offer a bundle with great app and web development courses).

Although not Canadian, I also used Namecheap web hosting for one year, and I totally liked it as well. For the first year, their prices can't be beat.

I did not use the Wordpress services with either, so can't comment on that.

Good luck whatever you choose.

Bob

Been getting emails from CIRA recently..

Why choose a .CA domain name?

✓ .CA instantly brands your website as 100% Canadian

✓ Canadians prefer to visit and shop on Canadian websites

✓ .CA is safe, secure and trusted

✓ .CA domain names are more likely to be available

✓ Proceeds from .CA sales are reinvested into the Canadian Internet community

That ebook is a good beginner quide to buying (dot) ca's

I think they do market..just not a Godday level.

Just submitted 8 domains to DomainBrothers. I will let you know how it goes.

Also I just noticed that a lot of their 'sold' domains were listed on the $99 deals page. That's not a great sign but a sale is a sale.
