Firstly I would like to say that both Efty and Undeveloped have some of the nicest team members I've ever come across. Doron is fantastic and always helps as soon as he can and equally, the team at Undeveloped are superb. Extremely friendly and very helpful. I moved some of my domains to Undeveloped a few days ago to try it out.

My initial thoughts on Undeveloped
Wow just wow! Beautiful market place! I fell in love with the design straight away. IMO they have the best landing pages out there and the whole place feels great. I love the fact that live chat is a click away and having faces of staff gives great reassurance.

Whilst it's only been a day or so I think Undeveloped is going to be the biggest marketplace soon. As a domainer I'm annoyed that I didn't use it earlier. This isn't to take anything away from Efty as they concentrate solely on landing pages and they are going to become big in this respect, no doubt about it.

I love the fact that all my domains can be visible to a potential buyer even if they land on one particular domain. Awesome by Undeveloped.

However I do suggest that Undeveloped show more details in terms of visitors. I' not talking about the traffic graph on the lander. I'm talking about when i go to my account I would like to see which country the buyer is from etc. Efty do this and I think it's very important. Maybe even add google analytics like efty do. Any plans to do this Reza?

Do we ever get to know details of the buyer including name and country etc after a sale is made? Will it be on the invoice and do Adyen provide this? This is important for reassurance for sellers due to money laundering procedures which require banks to know abit about buyer etc.

Also would it be possible to have an inquire button without prompting the buyer to click on make offer or buy it now? Sometimes buyers may simply want to just make an inquiry without submitting an offer.

All in all very positive so far.

Can undeveloped users use this thread too to post any domain sales that they'e had at Undeveloped. Keep the name private if you like.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Why is it important to know what country a seller or buyer is in? Which, if it is important, why does your NP profile not indicate where you are?

Actually, part of the reason buyers go to these marketplaces is so that they may offer/buy anonymously. Otherwise, as far as my sales are concerned anyway, they would just send me a direct offer from my WhoIs, or from my landing page.

It's good that they can pay sellers in Sterling, but at the moment I'm really only selling names for Bitcoin. I want this as an investment. Some market places will pay out in Bitcoin regardless of the buyers method of payment.

@peace800 I agree with most of what you have said.

I have sold a few domains now through @Undeveloped, one of which was on payment plan (an option which I really like).

Reza, Simon and team are, as you said, very quick to respond on any inquiries.

I really like the fact that other domains in your portfolio are displayed on a sales page as well.

As you mentioned, I would really like to see more stats on sales page traffic, like for instance what Bodis provides.

And how bout an outbound service in future with a fair commission structure? win-win

IMO it is the best marketplace, believe me, I tried them all.

Pierre

The best marketplaces are the ones that get so much traffic that they are able to move your domains without having to use their landing pages, which - let's face it, if you are using their landing pages then it is your domain that is bringing in the buyers not necessarily the marketplace.

Hi Peace800,

Thank you for sharing your feedback! It's very encouraging for our team to read posts like this.

Here are my replies to your questions:

Q: However I do suggest that Undeveloped show more details in terms visitors

A: Opinions vary regarding this subject but due to multiple requests, we've added this item to our roadmap. Our roadmap is prioritized in terms of impact so I'm not entirely sure when we'll launch this feature but it's definitely on our radar.

Q: Do we ever get to know details of the buyer including name and country etc after a sale is made?

A: Definitely once your buyer has paid for the domain you can download the invoice for your transaction with all details of the buyer.

Q: Also would it be possible to have an inquire button without prompting the buyer to click on make offer or buy it now?

A: We had this feature back in 2015. When we launched it we saw the number of leads explode! We were all celebrating the great success. However, fast forward 6 months when we had collected enough data to run a proper analysis. We found out that the inquire button was cannibalizing our seller's net revenue. When you had this option enabled you'd have less offers and buy nows, while those two options lead to more sales and higher sale prices. Next to that sellers would also get way too many fake leads or unqualified leads that only wanted to pay a fraction of the asking price. That's why in the current version of our for sale pages, this option isn't available anymore because you'd effectively end up with less revenue.

Check out the screenshot of our old for sales page attached. It's also interesting to see how our for sale page has evolved over time ;).

Take care,
Reza

We already accept Bitcoin + pay out our sellers in bitcoin regardless of the payment method of the buyer.

Hi Pierre,

Thank you for the feedback as well! We really appreciate it!

We started as an outbound focused marketplace back in 2014. Before Undeveloped I operated a brokerage firm as well to fund all startups I worked on. It just didn't scale and created a lot of issues in the end. I believe brokerage only works for either really low priced domains (small and medium-size companies do buy those) or really high-value domains. But with all professional brokers out there we didn't see a clear position for us to be involved in that process at Undeveloped. We do provide buyer and seller assistance. If our team needs to hop on a call to get one of your leads to convert and purchase your domain, we're more than happy to do so. But cold calling and sending out masses of emails is a no go for us.

Take care,
Reza

List with all of them that you appreciate and like to do business with but park with us ;).

Nice to hear the op has great things to say about these services. Personally, I use Efty. I haven't tried Undeveloped, but they are on my list. :)

I don't usually look at country of origin for sales or leads, but I suppose those features could be interesting.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

@toughdomains
Personally I've used both Efty and Undeveloped for a little while. Can't say for a very long time though. I had sales on both platforms, but in my experience, I didn't have more sales on Undeveloped compared to Efty. Both had more or less the same amount of sales.

I don't have an issue handling the payment part myself and save a few commission percentage points, that's why I decided to go with Efty (also I could upload my logo on Efty for some of my domains which I have logos for. I somewhat believe nice logos add value, but many would say makes no diference).

Also another point is that once the offer comes in through Efty. I reply by email. I can check with hubspot how many times the person opened the email or if they barely opened it.

That being said I agree with many above that the Undeveloped layout of the landing page really does look nice.

Hi ToughDomains,

No, we never charge additional fees. All fees are included in our base commission.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Well for me, I do not care what country a buyer come from but I would like to see country traffic as it is obtainable at Sedo. This will enable me to know where my traffic is coming from.

Hi Reza, thanks for the reply, that's awesome.

One major thing that I can see that may result in me leaving Undeveloped(and I know many have already mentioned this), is the fact that I want to know where the buyer is from in terms of country etc when they make an offer. Uniregistry and Efty already do this.

I see this as a major thing. Please can you implement this as a matter of urgency and not months down the line. Thanks.

Simply ask your escrow agent how you'd like to get paid out. If you notify him/her that you'd like to get paid out in BTC we can arrange it. We support more options than stated in your settings. However, do note that we just signed a deal with Adyen, which allows us to pay out even faster (often same day) if you use one of the two standard options.

Our marketplace is built for our users, so our users have a strong say in what we develop.

In order to not end up with a Frankenstein product that's hard to use we, work in our product development with an internal "feature request" document. When we've collected enough request for a feature, we move that feature up in the ranking and plan the development earlier than initially planned.

Including the feedback in this thread from multiple sellers is proof enough that sellers care about this so we'll build and deploy this soon. Hopefully together with another roadmap item that we're deploying soon and will have a high impact.

Take care,

Reza

I am happy to go with Bank account or PayPal as a default payment but I am glad to know I can have other options.

I too would like to see more visitors / offers / leads info in the backend if possible.

country is important in the negotiation...offers coming from canada US and UK or EU seem alot more realistic than from area such as south america or asia. In my experience we display full user info including geo in all sales offers. you own the buyers data and have full transparency. I think if your not running through a marketplace thats the way it should be. we even from time to time have buyers contact us because they couldnt reach seller so my advise is pay attention to those offers coming in.
