Some people are buying premiums at 210. A wise move.

Care to elaborate why it is wise? This TLD appears near enough dead to me with a farce behind it.

I dont think its dead. Not like all ngtld's, They just wanted to release premium words for a min price. If some top end users build websites on them, who would stop xyz?

The tough part is that even if they don't claw these lower-priced ones back, they still have the premium ($220 or whatever) annual renewals.

If these domains are not taken back, ;) it was a smart move to release them for kind of reasonable prices. Better than just let em' gather dust and never be bought because of crazy prices and renewals.

Cant believe how people are completely ignoring the hefty and deregulated renewal fees of $260. No sane domainers would fall for this, due to couple of strong and obvious reasons :
  1. Too expensive to hold.
  2. Your client will figure out the simple math, that its better to buy a dotcom for $2600 and keep it for 10 years just paying $10 renewal fee.
  3. Consider the possibility that these renewal prices could go upto any amount, anytime due to lack of regulation compared to a dotcom.
  4. It is not a dot com. The values of these two extensions are simply incomparable.
Clearly, it is directed towards naive endusers, who will always be in the mercy of the registry.
Indeed a very smart business move from the registry.

BUT, if you cant resist the crazy impulse. Grab the one that is available below.
You dont need to thank me. Have fun. :xf.grin::xf.grin:

Just do not understand why you guys (some of you are very experienced in new gTLDs) do this..why pay renewals 210-260/year for such names???

Do not see reasons why to do it..but I see at least 10 reasons why not to to it..

Is there anyone who can explain me how .xyz would be a better extension than an already established meaningful one like .info? The thing is, .info reseller prices became so cheap, I don't understand why would anyone choose car.xzy instead of car.info. The latter actually makes perfect sense, information about cars, while cars.xzy is just like cars.cc or any random extension.
