Nope, but .com is the most established extension. You can call it The official extension if you like. People got used to it, it will surely change by time, as type-ins are less and less important, but this does not explain why .xzy is any better than .info.

it is not matter of better or worse, it all matter of what you can get your hands on these days with less amount of money, I grabbed baseball.xyz for 200 dollars can i buy this keyword with any other well established extension ( like info) for 200 dollars ? .xyz extension is very generic, I can develop any type of website on this extension that is why i kind of like it.

Xzy means nothing, that's why you got your hands on that domain that cheap, however .info is similarly cheap yet makes perfect sense. Baseball.net, Baseball.online do make sense (however the latter is too long of an extension), and Baseball.com is official.

I am pretty sure that Cars.net or maybe even Cars.info have a higher value than Cars.xyz, but as far as I know the best .xyz names (short numerics etc) that have been sold were bought 1-3 years ago, mainly by Chinese investors. Still, more than 5 million .xyz names are registered. Many because of campaigns etc, but it is pretty much same with .info.

Personally I like the combination (kind of hacks) that you can create with the more niched new gTLDs. Eg. Night.club, Web.services, Travel.agency, Deep.blue, Same.sex, Hard.work and so on...

Because domainers think they have a 'chance' and the registries are playing with them. But you're right, they should consider legacy extensions before, or maybe not. After all, how many .net/.info sell for significant amounts in any given month ? That's right, focus on .com and mature ccTLDs.

Sure, but also I wrote it from a point of view as an end user. I prefer Dubai.info and especially Dubai.net to develop to Dubai.xyz, Dubai.online, Dubai.top, Dubai.win, Dubai.club, Dubai.vip, Dubai.site etc. And these are the most popular new extensions. They are just not better than the legacy extensions. In fact the new extensions I would only use for development if the hacks play a big role in branding, like the ones Fancy.domains wrote as examples.
