Hello all,

For several months, I have been recording 6N sales from Asian auctions. I now have enough data (thousands of sales) to offer some perspective on the 6N market and general trends. Because the market is so liquid (and large), I have segmented the data into specific "pattern" types which have a large enough sample size to be meaningful.

Please note that there are other threads for showcasing your domains and discussing 6N in general terms. In this thread, I will highlight and discuss only 6N.coms sold at auction (live bids and confirmed buyers) on Asian platforms. I will use this thread to focus on specific pattern sales with short commentary. Hopefully, this will help buyers and sellers in pricing and bidding.

Please note:

1. I have not captured every sale, but am confident I have recorded "most".

2. I make no warranty as to the accuracy of the final sales price as I am relying on the auction sites and the sales reporting site Chaomi.

3. There is a lot of data and almost impossible to capture all. For perspective, the pattern I will analyze today has almost 80 recorded sales in the last 7 days. How many of this pattern were published on Namebio in the last 7 days? The answer is 0. Feel free to add sales that I may have missed or from lesser known auction sites.

4. Sales are in Chinese yuan (CNY)- Conversion guide (changes daily, so not precise):

Comment: 13 sales, average: 2631 CNY ($400) Low 2400 High 3300 (8 end). The number 9 is always strong and this data confirms.

Summary: Remember, this is one week. There are hundreds of data points for each triple over the last few months. This pattern bottomed in early-mid December at 1400-1600 CNY on low end. The last two weeks show increasing price.

I will analyze the next pattern in a day or two.

Why do you think that?
But for 6N to do better you will actually need buyers who are willing to pay more.
I think all those who invested at peak and got burned will think twice before they do it again.
That's the problem - the only thing that influence the value is the confidence in the prices rising, that you can find a bigger sucker that will want your ultimately worthless domains.
If you can't find the bigger sucker - how are price supposed to rise?

I Think you know nothing about Chinese investors. Wait and see. They can change prices in 1 week like bitcoins. Who is sucker we can see next months.

Bottom line is the quick money in 6n's is gone and has been for around 6 months + and may or may not ever return. Anyone buying in the last 6 months and reselling lately have been walloped. I sold names like 666731.com at NJ just now for around $350 and other great patterns for $100 or so each.

For those comparing it to Bitcoin, possibly there is a similar pattern in the way both crashed but even then despite the recovery bitcoin has had lately, it is still miles away from the old peak years later. We are also presuming most 6n's don't continue falling into the sea which is just as possible as a recovery at some stage.

If you had 500 average non chip 6n's which are now 9 RMB up for renewal now, would you renew them or let them drop in bulk? I would personally drop them all and not renew them.

I have spoken in recent months to chinese investors who even they don't know which way 6n's is going to go, so if anyone here thinks they know then good luck to them.

According to June 1 eName domain news, an investor recently spent 2m CNY to purchase 5,000 6N containing no 0 and 4. This means 400 CNY or about $61 per domain. While the news did not specify the extension, it's very likely to be .com. He said he's ready to buy another lot of 5,000 domain names if the price drops further.

It's possible but no one knows for sure and that includes chinese investors i've spoken to.

It's been over 6 months of decline and right now we're literally days away and certainly weeks away at this rate from average 6n chips not getting back ordered at NJ. Prices are $60 now and have fallen off a cliff for a long and sustained period. Non chips are mostly worthless and not worth renewing at present.

It will take more than one or two investors putting some money in for this market to show any signs of recovery. Many Chinese investors have lost their shirts investing in 5l.com chips etc. so I am not changing my view on the state of the market until we see a prolonged and sustained recovery in volume and prices. 6n's are on the edge of the precipice right now it could go either way.

I hope for holders they get out of this okay!
