    Hello all,

For several months, I have been recording 6N sales from Asian auctions. I now have enough data (thousands of sales) to offer some perspective on the 6N market and general trends. Because the market is so liquid (and large), I have segmented the data into specific "pattern" types which have a large enough sample size to be meaningful.

Please note that there are other threads for showcasing your domains and discussing 6N in general terms. In this thread, I will highlight and discuss only 6N.coms sold at auction (live bids and confirmed buyers) on Asian platforms. I will use this thread to focus on specific pattern sales with short commentary. Hopefully, this will help buyers and sellers in pricing and bidding.

    Please note:

    1. I have not captured every sale, but am confident I have recorded "most".

    2. I make no warranty as to the accuracy of the final sales price as I am relying on the auction sites and the sales reporting site Chaomi.

    3. There is a lot of data and almost impossible to capture all. For perspective, the pattern I will analyze today has almost 80 recorded sales in the last 7 days. How many of this pattern were published on Namebio in the last 7 days? The answer is 0. Feel free to add sales that I may have missed or from lesser known auction sites.

    4. Sales are in Chinese yuan (CNY)- Conversion guide (changes daily, so not precise):

    2000 CNY- $304
    2250 CNY- $342
    2500 CNY- $380
    2750 CNY- $418
    3000 CNY- $456
    3500 CNY- $532
    4000 CNY- $608

Today's 6N pattern analysis: The interior, non-eight "triple" repeating digit (no 0,4).
    Pattern type example: x111xx, xx111x

Comment: 13 sales, average: 2631 CNY ($400) Low 2400 High 3300 (8 end). The number 9 is always strong and this data confirms.

Summary: Remember, this is one week. There are hundreds of data points for each triple over the last few months. This pattern bottomed in early-mid December at 1400-1600 CNY on low end. The last two weeks show increasing price.

I will analyze the next pattern in a day or two.

great info, thanks for all your hard work.

It would be interesting to see that the worst numbers sell for to see what the floor is if you can get that data, that would be great!

    Hi,

Interior triple eights trade with low frequency and at a much higher price. I will include data on this pattern as a subset of a "three eight" analysis that will be posted within the week.

    Cheers

    Hey Jim,

Thanks! I usually don't analyze the absolute floor as my interest is in higher quality patterns. However, I will take a look after I get through the first "round" of analyses.

Note: Apparently, I am not able to edit the OP. Because I was going to use the first post to update sales and create an index, I will now do so in my reply postings. The first pattern analysis encompasses sales from January 13 to January 20. All sales reports will be within two weeks of date of posting.

Pattern analysis #2: The "double eight" beginning without integers 0 or 4. Pattern 88xxxx.com

Comment: 6N domains ending in double eight command prices in the $1000 range and up. So why do 6N domains that start with double eight with similar quality numbers in the other four positions not command the same price? While the number eight is considered lucky, it also serves as an exclamation point or period to the numbers around it. If you have positive meanings in the first four positions, a domain that ends in double eight enhances the meaning AND the luck bestowed on the new owner! The more 8's at the end of the string, the better. However, 8s at the beginning are also lucky, they just don't have the same enhancement power as 8s at the end.

Recently, there was a lot of domains sold in China that have double 8 beginnings. Whois shows a range of different buyers and tight pricing. During this time, only 1 domain that meets the criteria of this analysis was sold on Namebio: 887557.com ($671) 1/4/16 at Godaddy Aftermarket.

    The sales (1/4/16-1/20/16)

    d= double pair

Comment: average: 3450 ($524), LOW 3200 HIGH 3999. Note that an additional 8 in the string did not necessarily increase value and domains with two pairs increased value by about $20.

Thanks for all your work, much appreciated. Also, I am not expert on chinese names, but I read that if you had a "4" next to an "8" it cancels out the "4" as being bad, for example there is not negative meaning to a "48" or an "84", even though "48" is better than ""84" and also same thing if a "4" follows a "5", such as "54" as cancels out the negative meaning of the "4". Not sure if you see the same, but I am going to test on namejet to see how they do. Also noticed that "0" and the "end" seems to be just as good as any other number at the "end except 8 or maybe 6"

    Pattern analysis #3: Double pairs, no 0,4. Pattern schemes: 11x22x, 11xx22, x11x22, xx1122, x1122x

Comment: This pattern is another semi-premium with steady auction sales. The assumption would be that 6N strings with two pairs would be more valuable than the average string and they are, more than 2x. Second, if at least one of the pairs is "exterior", the value should be, generally, higher. For example, "166992" is probably not as valuable as "661299".

Note: NamePros decided to move this thread from the "Numerics" discussion section. This thread is only for reporting confirmed domain sales from Chinese auction sites plus Namebio (secondary) if it adds to pattern analysis. There are many showcase threads and discussions in the Numerics section. Also, NamePros has an appraisal section. You can post your domains there for valuation. I'm sorry, I guess this was not clear in the OP. Going forward, I will provide minimal commentary/analysis due to the thread move.

6Ns are 899,999 domains. Thats almost double the number of LLLL.coms available.
Doing simple math, I think 6Ns will have eventually a floor price of $150 which is half the floor of LLLL.coms
Thats when the chip 6Ns will reach at least 30% the price of LLLL chips.
These are only stats based on probabilities, nothing more or less!

What would make things better for 6N investors, is when auctions soften a bit and when the drop rates drop as well! Same applies for anything in domaining. LLL.coms are skyrocketing coz its the investors who are setting it. Not more than 1 LLL.com drops a year, maybe 2 at most. GIve LLLL chips 6 months and 6Ns a year, and then judge!

I am not selling mine for cheap, and you all should do this. Stop selling for a $10 profit. Maximize your profit, you can get $200 per name (any name) that is 6N in a matter of months.

    Good Luck everyone!

Are those yours on Namejet? There solid names, but flooding the market with 100+ names really hurts the sellers. I sell on namejet myself but never more than 5-10 a week. It's up to you though.

No not mine. A lot of you are saying it's a safe bet, so I'm just saying if you really believe that the values will rise like that then why not put your money where your mouth is?
