question People who own 100 to 5,000 domains, which registrars do you use and why?

The title pretty much says it all. I'm curious which registrars are the most popular for people with at least 100 domains, and why those particular registrars are of value to you.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
namesilo is my fav at the moment, good pricing and simple compact interface saves me time also.

Dynadot. NameSilo. Those are main two. Also InternetBS, NameBright.

No no: obviously 1&1, Moniker, GoDaddy (yes i know most folks on here love them, but i use them only if i buy on their marketplace, and then i always transfer domains out). Also i'm moving all my domains from NameCheap lately, they are getting buggy as Moniker and their new UI is unusable, total nightmare.

is this correct?

YES!

I have listed Namecheap domains at Afternic.

BTW, Afternic Premium network includes ENOM Inc, Namecheap is a reseller of ENOM INC.

If you have 5000 domains it becomes cost-effective to run your own registrar.

Some registrars have an API available, which can help when you have many domains, and want to manage in bulk.

I think that Dynadot and Namesilo are the best. Hexonet is pretty good too.

The only weakness of Dynadot are the slightly higher prices and their WHOIS privacy.
It's not free and it is not as good as Namesilo when it comes to this.

Registrars I don't like:

Netsol. When you need help they want you to charge lot's $$$$ for phone support.

1&1 worst ever. Made me sign-up for a contract and you can only cancel it if you write them a letter.

Godaddy. OK they aren't that bad and have a lot of useful stuff such as auctions and friendly support but their interface is horrible and a pain to deal with. Would like to avoid them but it's hard to.

I use about a dozen registrars in total, but consolidating everything in godaddy and uniregistry currently. Cheapest prices, good service, decent security, that's all you need really.

@DKN As of my understanding, NameSilo does support Sedo MLS.

imo best to be where most people are for your registrar.
keep simple like that.
ie: godaddy.

Dynadot.com
Name.com
NameSilo.com

And other registrars which offers discount.

Namebright mostly, cheapest regs and renewals, 2FA, easy to transfer in and out, super clean and easy to use platform.

GoDaddy (I hate the interface, though)

My big three are:

Namecheap
Godaddy
Dynadot

lately I've shifted towards using Dynadot for most new registrations.

I like namecheap, but they're domain management leaves much to be desired.

I like Dynadot, however when trying to drop catch new gtlds by hand it can be frustrating because whenever the names have any kind of premium pricing they still list them at normal pricing, and when you check out it doesn't go through because of the pricing discrepancy. I have alarmed Dynadot of this "problem" (as it says in the domain status after checkout) but they seem unwilling to look into fixing it.

GoDaddy is a great registrar and I have a hosting account with them, however they're pricing is not great unless you have a coupon or have a premium account, which I should have but have not yet secured with them. They also call you all the time, to the point where it's almost annoying.
You can change the call settings, login to your account and go to my account settings and you can tell us to not call you etc.

Any word back on adding the ability to sort by name server Joe?

We are working on a new interface for bulk users. It is a big project and this should be addressed then, as well as some of the other comments on bulk usage difficulties in this thread.

Hey @Joe Styler, does GD have domain wildcard functionality? Like if I wanted to edit the forwarding address for 300 domains in one go.. I would enter something like...

http://www.luciddomains.com/domains/%%DOMAIN%%

If not, I and I'm certain others need this. Please add.

I asked NameSilo to add it their platform and they did, it be great if you added too.

Thank you.

Today for me it is Uniregistry. Fast and clean, no bullshit. They have been very honest to me as well, something I appreciate. The only two downsides, they don't offer many ccTLD's and the end users don't know about them.

Are you saying it is easy to do? What kind of fees are associated with your own registrar?
