Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

Well I tried wordpress. It took me hours to figure out how to do stuff that took me 3 seconds to figure out in Wix. I even tried hiring so called Wordpress experts to make me a site according to my requests. But not even they could make it happen. So finally I just made it myself in wix. Took me a few hours.

Maybe you are some sort of coding genius, but alot of us don't give a shit about that and just want an intuitive way to make the site we envision.

What were you building?

You can do a site in minutes at Wordpress.com. You just click a button to change themes, and many free or flashy paid for themes are available. Trying to do everything at once makes no sense and leads to frustration, but going to a platform with no choices may feel better at first but is a big handicap.

The problems in Wix may not be obvious to you at the start, or may not be visible, such as failing to load at all on some mobile devices, poor or zero search engine visibility, poor usability. Most drag and drop site builders produce poor code, which is not visible to the eye but is to search engines. Probably most important, you can't export from Wix, you are stuck there and can't add functionality . I would just avoid it. No need for more info this thread - there is another one about Wix and SEO.

Interestingly back on topic I was reading about using interactive VR to design things - interesting if you can manipulate and shape objects which then get printed.

I was paying close attention a few years ago when AutoDesk was getting into VR.

So I went poking for names when I realized what exactly a few firms were doing with VR and CAD design. 3DVRcad was the best I came up with at that time.

Since then AutoDesk has been buying VR tech co's and I see that they have been working closer yet with Microsoft and HoloLens. Both for 3D design and 3D printing.

While I don't see a next "great thing" sticking out on the horizon, I would say that engineering, design and mini manufacturing is a big thing over time.
VR/AR/Holo/360/3Dprinting is all a part of it.

It can be when all this tech is combined to create a force for many.
Never underestimate how many midnight engineers are out there.
It would surprise you. With this tech, there will be many more.

Nothing complicated at all. I just wanted it to look a certain way. Embedded video in a certain place, logos in a certain place and text in a certain place. Apparently this was too much for the Wordpress experts.

I would love to be awesome at coding. It's just so incredibly boring to me. I don't think it's surprising at all that alot of IT companies employ people on the autistic spectrum to do coding. I think you need a natural inclination to truly enjoy that stuff.

But anywho, back to VR as you say.

Here are some domains I decided not to buy. Go ahead an reg them if you guys like any of them:

VRAddictionDisorder
VRAddictionTreatment
VRAddictionTherapy
PlasticSurgeryVR
MedicinalVR

:D

<- coder
<- not autistic

It's not all that difficult if you apply yourself; it's all just a series of loops and conditional statements w/ access to databases. With most code, once you do it you can apply it to a new site every time with just copy & paste.

When doing anything worthwhile you need to step out of your comfort zone. Give coding a shot.

Apparently this was too much for the Wordpress experts.

Most 'wordpress experts' are just marketers that outsource the work, or just use 3rd party plugins to accomplish tasks. If there is no plugin for it, they draw a blank.

Good wordpress is a pain at first because it's almost like a completely different language you have to learn... so a php/js coder might look at WP and think, 'what the hell'.

My blog is built on a heavily modified & customized wordpress framework, and I just built out the 'hard part' for an auto blog that scours news sites for top news within the niche.

If you want to do something with wordpress and want it customized, PM me anytime.

Side note...

I am actually thinking about launching a design service strictly for domainers who want their own customized pro domain marketplace homepage with a blog tied in (just like the big players have).

I've seen a lot of marketplace pages out there that are ugly and inefficient and are just lists of domains.

We shall see... :xf.grin:

I think that's an awesome idea! I would definitely be interested in that.

I will let you know when I start beta. I will just have to work out some pricing; BrandBucket BrandRoot and the lot spent big money on their platforms.

It would be great for every domainer to have an easy to use platform like that for their own portfolios, at an affordable price; without each development looking like a 'cookie cutter' solution.

I started a wordpress for fetchvr. I have a long ways to go but so far it's fairly easy.

IMHO,
vrminigames may be the strongest of them.
vr3dhentai would be second.

with vrpoker360, it has to many similar keywords vr/360 - if it had 1 less of those two, it would be strong/strongest.

Why not register "funnyvrgames" instead of "vrfunnygames"?

Honnestly I think you are too late to catch any good names now. Save your money is my suggestion.

Or, you can buy some names from other domainers. Many within this thread/forum are selling great names at great prices.

I like "VRAnime.net" the most and "VRHDVideos.com" may also stand a chance. I'd refund "VRTotem.com" right away, that one could be a TM issue.

Cheers! :)

Following up on VR for mobile,

Apple to use OLED screens in 2016. Looks like they will enter VR market next year. iPhone 7 w/VR or a goggle of their own, or both ?

Samsung benchmarks mystery device... blows out a new record. Impressive.

Not to forget Samsung to make product reveals on thurs. 13th.
Should have the real deal GearVR -CV.

One last thing I just noticed...
I was searching for a new name for a sticker biz I run and stumbled on stickm.com that is registered to google apr/15 and does not resolve.

Anyone know what that may be about?
I am assuming it has something to do with android M.

Does it make sense to register some 7D domains? I have VR7D.com.
7DVR was given already.

Is it 'just' VR what it is all about or could it be 7, 8, 9, 10D too

A selfie stick?

Or stick-on beacons. Google is developing their own beacons - check Eddystone etc. Way more widely applicable than other people's beacons - very ambitious.

By the way, on the Wordpress side topic - WP was built as blogging platform, just putting in and publishing content is no more difficult than writing an email and you can use WP in many ways without ever looking at a line of code. Even changing appearance by changing to a different theme or using editing tools built into many themes. (As someone said here, many WP "experts" are BS artists that just expensively push install buttons for you and couldn't even code an SOS).

Probs start when you pile on a bunch of plugins that may or may not not work or be maintained - a bit like bodging a camper van and all its services onto a pickup. Probably not the pickup's fault if the toilet does not work or the wiring is scary.

I'm not a Wordpress salesman or fan - it is free, and anyway I prefer Drupal - but I hate to see people put a lot into something they have to abandon or outgrow, and it's great you can export everything in WP. This is a very frustrating area for someone starting out, I've sometimes thought of doing a guide to choosing a CMS or platform for the total beginner.

A weird side note for some of you...

In The Beginning !

I collect many things, but I like historical things.

I just ordered some aug time magazines from ebay.
My hope is to run into Palmer Lucky somewhere and get them signed along with my wired magazines from last year (i think it was july) and my DK1 with a early serial number. Possibly a CV1 ?

If you truly understand how big VR is, you understand.
If not, you probably think it is a bit cooky.
But I use to be on MTBS3D before the rift proto so I really have followed this vr resurgence since the beginning. I was also involved a bit the first time around.

Just saying in the case you also wish to collect a piece of history.
When the CV1 is out, DK1's should be dirt cheap.

These will hang on my wall no matter....
