Hi guys,

Just curious if any of you gets this error when using a code:

Some of our best offers are limited to one per customer and it looks like you've already used one. We've updated your cart with the best offer, if one is available.

This is what I see below the code field:

The code entered has some restrictions.

Thank you so much for your time!

Looks like you've used everything. I've posted like 250 coupons some time ago in the other thread.

Try paying through direct bank transfer. It always works for me, because they always record CC details.

As you based at india, Me as in India coupon codes are rarely work for me!
If One code applied then I unable to register a new domain with any coupon code for 6-7 day or so!

Dont know why its happened? Can you tell me why its happened for me.

What I wonder is, is this affecting old accounts in which many codes have been used, or does it include the new opened accounts with a new credit card also?

If we open a brand new account and purchase with a new credit card, does the system accepts only for 1 code or.. what happens then? Gives the same error message even after using 1 code?

Opening multiple accounts to use codes can get your account held/suspended and you might lose your domains. Happens often. GoDaddy see's this as code manipulation.

If you value your domains and don't want to lose them, I would advise against opening additional accounts for getting around using codes. Search the forum, happens often...

I asked a friend to open a account he was able to use 1 code and that was it...then he got the same message...from my understanding gd is trying to limit the codes 1 per customer...

Dunno their logic: having dozens of codes that won't work as soon as you use one.

I have't used a coupon in almost 6 months but I see almost $9 as minimum for new reg. Haven't tried any code for transfer-in yet.

btw, have you wondered about the impact? ..... Wait for it .... Wait for it. ..... Will happen soon

Now we are going to see domain registration prices increase across the board at all registrars, and no coupon from others either.

Probably good, makes you think about crappy names you quickly register, stops you from wasting money

Plus good support will become one of primary factors to retain a customer. Thanks GD :-D

I like this change. Hope it remains this way. ( I guess mentioning this on a domainer site will give me tons of dis-like. Please don't hate me )

Well, fudge... I was going to transfer a few domains from namecheap...
If $9 is the best they offer might as well use namesilo - at least they offer a free a whois protection.

I've tried using the renewal coupons for july (and even some sites that claim august) 2015, and none of them work.

Do you have a source (outside of those listed from Google/Bing) searches that might work? Please do list them here.

(I have about a dozen GD domains that makes it infeasible to get the discount club (i'd rather transfer them to my other registrar), but I'd like to retain these existing names if an applicable renewal discount is available.)

Thanks.

Currently no godaddy coupons work.. Most of the domainers are waiting for an update from our Daddy

Thanks, ulterios. It is indeed too bad that GD chooses to go this route, with all the discounts on new registrations but apparently almost stiffing existing customers (I've been with them for more than a decade and a half) with almost ~$15 renewals.

I feel like having no choice but to move my domains out instead, and saving over 40% elsewhere.

You are most welcome.

Yeah, this is a big risk for GD. They are leaving room for competitors to step in and take some of their customers.

I am sure they are gonna get hurt by this. Hopefully they will have a change of heart and bring back the order of the universe. LOL

Those high renewals are also costing them a lot of customers. Looks like GD is taking a big risk. I Guess we'll see if it pays off for them..

What I understand that cost of a domain to the registrar is $6. That was probably the strategy of the founder, get the maximum registrations, become biggest registrar and then sell it off - which he did and pocketed couple of billions - http://mashable.com/2011/07/02/godaddy-sold/ - it says the buyers assumed their debt which could be over a billion - billion is lot of money to have debt of.

I do not think GD was profitable when they sold. Of course, having lot of domains gave other business opportunities like auctions, hosting, certificates etc. etc - it just gave them standing in the marketplace. If I recall in earlier days, you could not register anything without going through 4/5 pages of selections. Especially for auctions, people would just register anything with coupons and then try to auction the name, otherwise just drop it - again register some with coupons.

Now since the company has been sold, is in stock market - they have answer to public i.e. profitability to show.

If someone uses one .99 coupon then they can never use another one ?
  • Ehrich -
That is correct, the .99 domain coupon is one-time use only.

    Correct.

I guess you could run between two registrars, I wrote a post last year is transferring the new renewal ? So I know a few who do this, name at Go Daddy transfer to Name.com for $8.25 the next year transfer to Go Daddy for $7.99 + .18 ICANN.

It says NameSilo $7.99 but I don't see that price anywhere on the website for .com. $8.39 Transfers vs $8.25 Name.com and $8.17 Go Daddy. But you get free privacy so that worth the extra .22.
It's with a coupon code - but it only works for one domain
