Last year, we wrote several articles about famous people who haven’t secured their .COM domain. In a world in which social media is the leading way of communicating with fans, celebrities and their respective management services may put less importance on owning a domain name. However, I believe that if you are a famous person, owning your .COM should be a priority. It can act as an official base for all of your content, and it’s something that you have complete control over.
Here are five more famous people who do not own their .COM.
Gigi Hadid
This domain name has been in the news recently after it expired earlier this year, and was sold on GoDaddy for $708. Gigi Hadid is one of the world’s most famous models, who has over 25 million Instagram followers, and well over three million Twitter followers. According to CelebrityNetWorth.com, she has a net worth of $13 million thanks to lucrative contracts with brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and BMW.
Both GigiHadid.com and her sister’s BellaHadid.com both currently resolve to a domain services contact form.
Harry Styles
Harry Styles is a British pop star that you are likely to have heard about if you have a teenage daughter. This member of British band One Direction has signed a three-album solo deal, and is due to make his acting debut in 2017. However, his team have not secured some key social media usernames, or his matching .COM domain.
While Mr Styles uses @harrystyles on both Instagram and Facebook, his team doesn't look to have secured the @harrystyles Twitter username. As for HarryStyles.com, it is being used by a fan to host Harry Styles related material. The domain has an Alexa rank of just over three million, so the site does get some traffic. With three albums and a movie on the way, securing HarryStyles.com should be of some importance to his team.
Dwayne Johnson
Dwayne Johnson, also known as The Rock, is a professional wrestler and actor. He was named Hollywood’s highest paid actor of 2016, earning $64.5 million between June 2015 and June 2016, and Dwayne has just been named as People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive. What more could this man want or need?
DwayneJohnson.com, perhaps. Dwayne Johnson has a combined total of over 135 million social media followers on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, posting under either “TheRock” or “DwayneJohnson”. You may say that he doesn’t need to own DwayneJohnson.com, which is currently used by an accountancy firm in Wisconsin. However, there have been reports recently that he may run for President, against Donald Trump in 2020. If that does happen, he’ll need to secure the name in advance of announcing his intention to run.
Kevin Hart
Comedian and movie star Kevin Hart does own KevinHartNation.com, but couldn’t get KevinHart.com. New York based interior designer Kevin Hart has been using the domain since at least 2004, and the domain is currently registered under WHOIS privacy. I’m sure that the interior designer has had some contact with Kevin Hart’s team in the past, but no sale has been agreed.
Interestingly, Kevin Hart doesn’t own any “kevinhart” usernames on social media. On both Instagram and Twitter, the comedian uses @KevinHart4Real, while on Facebook he’s settled for @HartKevin.
Pitbull
American rapper Pitbull has released nine studio albums and has featured on eighty singles. Pitbull is one of the most astute marketers in the music industry, and has managed to secure the @pitbull username on all of the major social networks.
His current website, PitbullMusic.com, is used to update fans on the performer’s latest appearances. Pitbull.com is owned by a Hong Kong based company that owns over 1,000 other domain names, according to DomainTools.com. The name is currently for sale on Sedo with a minimum offer of $10,000. According to the sales page, three bids have been previously submitted.
