I see a few threads on recent good purchases, but after speaking to a friend lately who told me that he accidently purchased maritalarts.uk, thinking it spelled "martial arts", it got me wondering what everyone's worst domains they have ever purchased. Maybe ones they'd be embarrased to admit in public.

Personally, my worst has got to be 0dig.com. This goes back to my very first few days of domaining, when I had the mistaken belief that anything with three letters and a number just simply had to be of incredible value. Oops!

I even came so very very close to registering the expired domain 'HeathyDirect.com' just over a week ago until I noticed on the registration screen it was missing an 'L'.

What are some of your biggest mistakes that you dare to admit?

This actually happened to me with a domain I intended to develop rather than sell. I registered it for 10 years because I got a reasonable % off the registration price. This was all before I got into the domaining game, and have since found & registered two or three better names, and wish I didn't spend so much on the original purchase now!

I was having trouble buying binaries .co on GD at the time, but it was available so I moved over to namecheap and GOT IT. Immediately after buying it realized my mistake - binairies .co

So i have both now...but binairies will be dropped 😅

Hey,

I love the idea of sharing domain purchase blunders! I think we’ve all been there, especially early on in the domaining world.

For me, I once bought a domain thinking it was a catchy brand name, only to realize later that it was incredibly hard to spell and remember. I kept thinking it would be a "hidden gem," but it was just too confusing. Definitely a lesson learned!

Your story with 0dig.com is a classic one! It's easy to get caught up in the idea that short, random combinations must be valuable.

It's always a good reminder to slow down and think things through, especially with domains. Thanks for sharing – I’m sure many of us can relate!

For me(for now), my worst non-profitable domain is SeriousProduct.com

It is assotiating in my mind with my schoolmate, who was very serious sometimes, and it wasn't funny...

Democt.com
Turbole.com
Zapram.com
Yardao.com

These are the last ones I dropped. No idea what a heck I was thinking...

0dig.com clearly didn't put off the registrant (assuming you dropped it) who's parked it at fasthosts.co.uk

Nor has HeathyDirect.com put off HD

Yeah, I've noticed a few names I have mentioned on the forums have been snapped up. For example, in another post I mentioned that I dropped InvestRealtor.com because of the trademark implications (I didn't realize at the time that the word 'Realtor' was a trademark, and NAR are very aggressive when it comes to protecting their name) and it looks like that has been snapped up straight afterwards.

Oh well, if they believe they can get a sale, I don't mind, more power to them.
