I see a few threads on recent good purchases, but after speaking to a friend lately who told me that he accidently purchased maritalarts.uk, thinking it spelled "martial arts", it got me wondering what everyone's worst domains they have ever purchased. Maybe ones they'd be embarrased to admit in public.

Personally, my worst has got to be 0dig.com. This goes back to my very first few days of domaining, when I had the mistaken belief that anything with three letters and a number just simply had to be of incredible value. Oops!

I even came so very very close to registering the expired domain 'HeathyDirect.com' just over a week ago until I noticed on the registration screen it was missing an 'L'.

What are some of your biggest mistakes that you dare to admit?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Why?

I one hyphenated domain sold for $700. It includes keyword: domain name.
I found that hyphenated nets are worst for SERP. Google hate dotnet domains no idea why.

Also ONE OF my Worst domains - Binancery.com

I didn't know that such names are from the start Banned from web, because of big whales owning original projects.

I used to pick up random 3-letter .coms as placeholders for projects and then throw them away once the project had a brand. There was no Drop Industrial Complex back then. Oh well. 🙄🤦‍♂️

I accidentally bought 00ZE.com thinking it was OOZE.com

If that's your worst, you're not doing too bad.
Yeah, while I'm not a fan of typo domains, a single-word one can't be too bad. Especially, as far as typos go, that's got to be one of the most common ones made.

(8scissors.com) and others, although i sold recently 2 with 8 beginning as a number, those were lucky sales, would not renew them further but they sold.
If someone is interested maybe they are good investment, still have some left with number 8.

When I started domaining, I read about the sale of utxo.com for 20K. I searched for utxo immediately and regged UTXOutput.com thinking that was a brilliant move.

My worst domain name is yournextbank.com. Although the name makes semantic sense, which is why I bought it in the first place, I now realize it might not have any end users.

“FullHeath.com” got me a few months ago :xf.cry:

I also just recently realized that the word “Realtor” is a trademark and have renewed a GEO”realtor”.com at least 5X.

Shame, that would have been a great one for either games or health/fitness.

You and me both, I let go of InvestRealtor.com just the other week, not realizing Realtor was actually a trademark.

immo-bilien.com - real-estate in German, i thought Germans loves hyphenated domains but actually not.
Moral of this story - do not invest in non English names.
If the reverse is also true, I'll close the books today and finally be a free man.

That being said, I had worst domains from every case group in this thread.
I remember Advocat .mobi (not a Memecoin), ShangSex .com, MrAlcohol .com (no idea if I had Mister or Mixed Reality 🙃 in mind), MiamiReal-Estate .com (3-word, stupid hyphen and a TM!) ...

Looking back, it's hard to understand what kind of crap you, as a beginner, think is a good idea. This is beyond the point of nonsense.
Unfortunately, this never ends when the imagination generally tends to lose all traction.

I usually have a new worst domain after I "feel creative" and hand reg some names.
