Ok, I have an idea for a site and I know that it would make money, maybe not 100s of millions but I can guarantee millions. I know people have thought it a million times before but I know I have something here.

Problem? Well of course it's going to take money. How much, I don't know yet. I would assume to get the site built and initial advertsing would cost $50,000 to $100,000. But there would be more costs so I'm not sure how much I would need.

I'm assuming I would need to come up with some kind of presentation with extensive information on my idea, but who do I take this information to? I know investors but where do I find these type of people?

Any information on this subject would be helpful. I haven't slept in a little over two days thinking about this and my idea.

So, you can guarantee atleast millions, huh?

Good luck to you.

Do you have good credit? Assets?

I know it sounds completely stupid and foolish to say but it hasn't been done and talking to end users in this profession, it is greatly needed.

I am young with very little assets.

First, get your idea put down on paper.
Then, get a lawyer and have him make up a "Non Disclosure Agreement" and anyone that you tell about your "idea" has to sign this document, so they can not go out and do it on their own.
Then, I would post on a few forums for partners/investors, and if someone is interested, have them sign that document too.

If you really do have a great idea, do not take chances, get a lawyer, heck, he might even know some of the right people!

Age and Assets did not stop the likes of Rockefeller, Gates and most like them - I say "GO FOR IT"

Best of luck!

UneekTT's advise is pretty good. If it truely is a great idea, talk to a lawyer about it - and then start looking for some venture capitalist who invest in online ventures... they are out there.

If you can guarantee millions, there should be no problem going into heavy debt, since you're totally confident about it all. Forget about investors, you dont want people siphoning your profits in the long run. The only disadvantage is the risk of loss if you fail - which you're saying isnt going to happen.

My advice: Register a company, produce a mission statement and approach bank managers for the appropriate loan.

The biggest cost will be getting the actuall site built. It would be way to complex for me to build. I would compare the build of the site to something like the complex of myspace and youtube but the features would be different and the primary money support would not be coming from advertisers.

Have you looked around? You want to make absolutely sure that your idea hasn't been done in some other form.....I have seen people think they are truly unique only to find out that something very similar...and much better...was already out there had they bothered to really dig deep and try variations of their idea in searches.

I have found one site that has something simialar but they are going about it wrong. Of course thats my opinion but they don't have a way to keep people coming back. They just offer a service and they are charging a ridiculous amont of money. They are also charging both "parties" on the site. My idea is a lot different but I was suprised to see something anywhere close to this. Oh and there domain isn't very good for it.

I would also make sure there are not already tools being built that accomplish most of your task for you..... for example there are several myspace/youtube styled packages out there already. Whatever your niche is, perhaps building it yourself - at least in the initial stages - might be easier than you think.

In addition to the incredibly talented folks here, there are freelance sites around where you can get programming done cheaply.

I do not know how experienced you are at developing sites, so this may be obvious, but there are software packages that make basic site development fairly easy. My favorite to use is www.netobjects.com , easy to use. Plus there are always addons created by third parties for packages like that to make the software even more useful.

JMO, but the first step would be to write down a rough outline of what will need to be done to create the site, what it will look like, then look and see if any software out there exists for the structure you need to build.

RogueWriter-- I have been looking into it but I don't have any programming knowledge. I use Joomla and I'm trying to find this and that to piece a site together and see if I can start from there.

I love Fusion from netobjects.com , very easy to use. Dreamweaver is more popular, but Fusion 9.0 is easier to use. Now, I do not get very complicated on my sites, but that software does a lot for me. You might talk to abugabby from this forum, very creative individual, lots of design skills, too.

wow , congrats twells on your brilliant idea. Hope it will get accomplished soon.

Based on my personal experience, I actually built my site first, then I started finding sponsors. in return, I give my sponsors advertising space on my site.

:)
