Even i want to know this. I think you can easily transfer the domain to elsewhere as otherwise it will be against icann rules. But still would like second opinions and other people's experiences first. Btw i am guessing this is limited to one domain per new account?

Yes it's one domain per account and it's for the first year.

Yes, it'll work...but the domain has to be older than 60 days I think...

You'll need to go to your Yahoo account, unlock the domain. The go to your godaddy account and request a transfer of domain from yahoo....

It is illegal for Yahoo not to allow you to transfer the domain out....

I know its illegal. But just wanted to confirm and check for any horror stories or issues with transferring out. Thanks...

Okay but is a cc necessary for signup? Can i just signup with paypal?

You can use PayPal. Remember to remove Yahoo from your Pay List at approximately 5 days from your domain registration. That way, they cannot take money from your PayPal account.

I'd anyway pay a lot of attention, I remember I had some sort of issue when wanted to tranfer my domain from yahoo. But at the end, after I called them and explained it was illegal under ICAAN rules, they allowed it. All this happened 2 years ago.

How much is your time worth to save $6?

If it all goes perfectly, it's likely worthwhile.

But if you forget to transfer it out (what Yahoo is banking on), or run into snags transferring it out (very likely!), then it's a horrible deal.

And, as others have mentioned, even if you successfully get the domain transferred out, that doesn't mean they won't try later rebilling for $34.95, or whatever the renewal fee is, anyways. Think of the amount of time it could take and hassle involved to straighten that out all to save $6. Doesn't seem worth it to me, but some like challenges :]

this happened to me at yahoo.....bought names years ago at yahoo and transferred them away because of high renewal prices...but,....because i had credit card on file, even after transfer, they still charged my credit card @ $35 per name.

i got everything worked out and money refunded.... but for you, not worth the hassle for a few dollars...skip the morning coffee and use that money to go to real register.

generally speaking you get what you pay for, may be okay to save a few bucks if you only hold a few domains and can deal with bs and have time to keep an eye on small print etc... Personally I own too many domains to care about saving a few dollars as the time wasted in trying to pry them loose is worth more, stick with the big dogs Go Daddy, Fabulous, Name, Moniker, NameCheap etc.... so you know you can transfer domains in a few days instead of having to jump through hoops or provide a stool sample to transfer just because you saved a few dollars but now have to spend more than that in time lost, time is money, saving money is cool but saving money at the cost of productivity is flawed.

It's a Walmart/Greendot issued card. I've used these prepaid cards for years and never rally had a problem. Heh I need to load about $500 on it today if I can. But it works perfectly with every registrar I've used it with.

Prepaid cards as in bought locally or online?
