He’s been talking about this for a while. Not sure what will happen with the brand but him owning a large platform AND a single letter domain name could mean he’s interested in rebranding for real, and then I could see the potential for interest in single letter domains or double letter domains to increase.

Note, only Z.com is the one letter .com domain that is in popular use but it’s not used in America at this time. So if X.com starts to be used as a major social media platform, that would be a major event in the future for American short domains.

Oh I know the reasoning from Elon and how he plans to expand the site into his everything app, but I assumed that he was going to keep calling the tweets, tweets. You really would not need to rename the original site to make the X app.

Yahoo was trying to get Y and Overstock was trying for O. They eventually got O.co but it was not a big improvement on traffic after they named a stadium O.co. But with Twitter he owns T. co but he also is involved with X.ai, has X.com, will he replace t. co with X. co(currently owned by godaddy)? He seems to have an obsession with the letter X but my question is what will we be calling our tweets and twitter handles now with this rebranding?

He’s thinking more along with “everything” or X marks the spot. But as I said I think it’s a mistake to rename the social network that, while he could have his “everything app”, it would be good to have the network build into X but still call that part Twitter or something else even, something that makes sense, but it does not make sense to post an X on my X. And to tell people to follow my X…

Right he does, but I’m questioning this move right now as I’ve stated. He also doesn’t own a trademark for that logo.

Just my two cents. Elon is very rich man with quite a few successful businesses under his belt. I am sure he has advisers who tell him where to invest. Twitter was just a messaging app. But a small fish compared to giants like google, youtube and facebook. Maybe twitter will one day become the all in one household app for everything(from videos to socializing and everything in between). Which Elon intends to do. Offcource he has the ability and resources to make it happen.

He has praised the WeChat app and when he says he wants an everything app, that’s his goal. But even WeChat has the name Chat in the name, not a single letter.
