WTH happened with Google on March 8th?

Anyone else have their site dropped from the SERPs on March 8th? I noticed that one of my larger well ranked sites just disappeared on the 8th. It also went from 31,300 indexed pages to 155.

I normally would let it go assuming it was typical Google crap, but I have found about 5 others with the exact same problem on Sitepoint. Same day, same effect.

Anyone else a victim of this random torture? Is the 8th March fool's day?

I think Google finally implement their new Data center (big daddy)..

I think you are probably right about that. It makes the most sense. I wonder if I am still in the sandbox according to bigdaddy then. I was for the last 10 months and came out on the regular datacenters just prior to the bigdaddy unrolling.

What are the chances of that you think?

I had the opposite, picking up a lot more traffic from Google this month than we have been.

Same with me. I went from 3 indexed pages to 33 (every page of the website) and went from around 77 backlinks from indexed pages to 164 backlinks from indexed pages.

Gotta love Google!

Yes Google can be nice, but trust me there are just as many getting screwed as getting blessed with an increase in traffic.

It's not always sensible. I am positive that there are sites that don't deserve it ranking high after BD and sites that deserve to be ranked high seeing nothing.

Just another day in the life of Google.
