Today I visited the 2016 West Palm Beach Boat Show. While there were some boats priced under $100k, most of the boats we saw were priced $300k to $2 million with quite a few priced $5 million to $12 million. The most expensive boat I saw was priced at 40 million euros though someone informed there was one at the show priced even higher.

Companies from around the globe were displaying their merchandise so I decided to note the domain names being used. For the most part the domains were 2-3 word brandable .COMs. I did notice a couple of one-word .COMs at the event.... Marine.com and Bahamas.com However, there were also some not-so-great .COMs. I noticed a couple of four-word .COMs as well as several two-word hyphenated .COMs and a .COM domain which ended in 4U . Yes there were companies promoting merchandise selling for six figures plus yet operating on a hyphenated domain. That is the world we still live in as of 2016 even in a US tourist city. Many end users just do not place much value on domain names even though they could easily afford to pay low five figures for it. Meanwhile I did not see even one .Net or .Info or new TLD. I noticed one .TV domain whose product fits the extension... Jumbo.TV

sounds like we need to start building boats!

I think the general public doesn't know that if a domain is taken, that they can find and contact the owner to try to buy it. They just go on looking for the first domain to come up that is not registered no matter how bad it is.
