This morning I was offered $750 for offsuit.com, a domain I am selling on tdnam.com

I have been offered $1200 in the past but declined it because I felt it was worth a lot more due to its short length and easy two words. However, now that the Anti-Online poker legislation has passed I think the value may have signicifcantly decreased.

Would you take this offer? This is my first time selling a domain name, so I am scared that I may be being ripped off and that the person will turn around and sell it for 50k and I simply don't know the best site to sell it on or how to do it. I also might be getting lucky and should snap up this offer. Opinions?

Feel free to point them in my direction, I have FinalTable.org for sale, I'd take $750 for that :)

It is definitely a nice name and I dont think the legislation is going to have much of an impact, plus it only applies to the US, while poker in general is growing at an astronomical rate the world over. Personally, I dont think the value of your domain is effected at all by the legislation. If you're not strapped for cash I'd just inform them that you've had a previous offer of $1200 and that you're willing to entertain offers above that. I'm not really sure about it's value though.

My 6 month rookie experience tells me your domain is worth atleast $3,500 and no less. I'd counter with that and except $2,800 minimum.

It depends on traffic and age - undeveloped $750 is a decent offer but you could get much more developed. Like you mentioned, the new legislation devalues your domain. This is coming from someone who is a moderator at a poker affiliate forum with nearly 800 posts there and I have sold quite a bit of poker domains, some not nearly as nice as that for much more.

I had it as a buy it now for $1000 on tdnam...

Now I don't want to take the offer... ahhh. I hate this. I just don't see how you get in contact with the type of people that would offer that much. It seems like the chances of someone seeing it on tdnam very low. Any advice on where to go to sell it?

I actually do have a site developed for it. I took it down though because I am from washington and was afraid of being charged with a felony due to the washington specific legislation that recently passed.

I would think with the new legislation would increase the values of all poker domains not decrease? Being their hard to come by as it is now, a name like offsuit is very brandable imo and could be used by anyone. But like I said, I'm a rookie.

What do you all honestly think this could fetch both undevloped and developed (I do have a site developed for it, but it didn't get any traffic)?

Should I be concerened that NONE of the other tld's are registered and that this is the first offer I have received in a month of being for sale. 1 other offer came unsolicitated when I had the site developed.

OffSuit.com - Regged July 24th, 2003

Length/Brandablity - Excellent 9/10
Keywords - Very Good 8/10
Google Search "Off Suit"- 53,200,000 Resutlts - 8/10 Very Good
Popular Phrase - Excellent 9/10

The domain name OffSuit.com is an incredible find. It was regged right around when the WSOP was becomming huge on television. The Term Off Suit refers when you have 2 cards that are obviously of different suits (spades, hearts, diamonds, clubs) In poker, this term is as common as water. The brandability of the domain name is through the roof. OffSuit could be a better brand name then many of the current poker players.

Legal Issues do hinder the value of the name. One of the largest Markets for Poker is the US and now that current laws are in place it prevents online gambling for US citizens. Does this decrease the value of the name? Yes. Will it do so indefinetly, unlikely. Sooner or later a loop hole or even the law itself will allow for poker to return to US citizens.

Suggestion: Hold onto the name. The value of the name is atleast 2,000 USD and I wouldnt personally part with it for less than 3K. A smart man would hold onto it as this name will gain value over time and could even be turned into a poker blog of sorts, or even an activist site to repeal the current legislation. If you are considering the $750 dollar offer, I suggest you reconsider! If I was seaking out poker names at this point I would think 1500 would be a steel.

If you find this Appraisal helpful, Rep Points and NP are always welcome.

HOW? Where do I sell it? No one will pay more if no one knows about it? Is TDNAM the best site?

Just so everyone is clear, the new legislation does not prohibit US citizens from online gambling, it only makes it illegal for financial institutions to allow US citizens to use their services to fund gambling accounts... The law for citizens and online gambling has not changed at all... Some of the bigger poker sites, like Party Poker are pulling out from US customers, mostly because they are publically traded companies whose investors don't like the stigma involved. Globally speaking, poker is on the rise and I think quality poker domains only stand to rise in value once this plays out a bit.

Hi,

I recently replied to your PM saying that I'd take the $750 for this site, considering it was the first offer in 3 months. As an alternative, you can try listing the site on http://www.pokerdomainnames.com for a while , it is the perfect niche domain sales site. You can look under sold for sites that have actually sold on that site - 2 of them were mind :). As you can see, you need the end buyer.

Also, any traffic or backlinks from authoritive sites? Very important (in all industries) but more so in the poker industry. Qualilty traffic can net you $4 - $20 per click from the right advertiser.

Thank you for the Clarification - Although I did not accurately explain the law, the end result is the same.

Yes there is no law about actually playing online poker but the scare tactics will dent the industry periodically. And only periodically IMO
