I believe that President Biden was right when he said that Russia is going to Invade Ukraine.

Any intelligent person is going to come to the same conclusion knowing that Russia has already decided to pay any price imposed on it by the West through sanctions.

Short of full military confrontation by the West there is nothing that can make Russia to change its mind as they see this as a golden opportunity to resurrect the once powerful superpower that was equal to the USA.

But Russia’s ambitions are not going to stop with taking over Ukraine since it already has made plans to increase its sphere of influence to Asia, Middle East, and South America and perhaps the whole World knowing that the West is most likely not going to do anything beyond just imposing sanctions which ultimately will hurt the West itself by effecting the Global economy in an adverse way the longer that they go on.

I personally don’t like any of the old ideologies, philosophies, and doctrines of Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, Religious Fundamentalism and all the other “ism” that are derived from the bad human characteristics of Greed, Lust, Hate, Cruelty, Jealousy, Prejudice, and lack of Empathy and that have been infringing on our rights in one way or another throughout the history because they can only exist through supporting inequality, oppression, suppression, torture, killing, and War.

When it comes to saving the World the last thing that I want to see is the further expansion of these old systems that have all already proven to be a failure in dealing with the existential problems that are currently facing Humanity and the Environment.

We don’t want all these political, Religious, and Racial parties and groups to resurrect their past, we want something new that can propel the World into the next Era that is based on the Universal Principles and Values that have been derived through Logic and Compassion and not through Force and Violence.

By “We” I mean all the Intelligent, Righteous, and Peace loving people of the World.

Vladimir Putin may have put advisors 'under house arrest', says Joe Biden

https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/rus...-put-some-advisors-under-house-arrest-2855749

His advisiors are in a no win situation. If you vote against Putin's 'special military operation' you are fired at best or jailed/disappear from the face of the earth at worst.

If Putin's military operation is a failure, you are fired at best or jailed/disappear from the face of the earth at worst.

Who would go into politics in Russia? 🤷‍♂️

Oh I agree . Every country in the world, we the people of the World, do not make crucial and critical determinations about our own well-being …. It’s like .. George H Bush decides we are going to Iraq , no one voted on that , George W Bush decides we are going back to Iraq , but also Afghanistan , no one voted on that , because had we the people voted , we wouldn’t have been in 30 year war ..

That is why I can sympathize with the “Good” Russian citizens during this, they have no choice or say in Russia mauling Ukraine , no more than Americans did in its military mauling Iraq and Afghanistan
Not many politicians follow the path of Logic and Compassion, but that's a subject better suited for the political thread.

There is only one War that I might have approved of and that would have been a War that could have ended all other Wars by freeing Humanity from the bondage, suppression, and oppression of religious, political, racial, economical, and even technological fanaticism and extremisms.

But unfortunately those operations (Wars) in Iraq and Afghanistan were more designed to put the religious extremists in power rather than try to bring freedom to the masses because as free people those Countries could have been vulnerable to Russia's influence and penetration and the West just couldn't afford to let that happen.

Everyone thinks of the War in Afghanistan and Iraq as a failure, but in reality the situation that you see on the ground over there is exactly what the West wanted to achieve.

As long as bigger Countries with Capitalist and Communist systems are at each other's throats unfortunately smaller Countries like Iraq and Afghanistan can never be completely free as we are seeing with the similar situation that Ukraine is currently going through in Europe.

Zelensky: Peace will come from Ukrainian strength on battlefields, not from negotiations

President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of more fighting and no early end to Ukraine’s war with Russia, saying only Ukrainian success on battlefields, and not negotiation can bring peace.

Zelensky said that, despite recent reports of possible progress in ceasefire talks in Istanbul, the Kremlin fully intends to launch new offensives aimed at destroying the Ukrainian state, and that Ukrainians will fight to the last.

”RF force levels in the Donbas are rising to support new attacks. We are ready for them. We don’t believe in pretty words and statements. There is only the real situation on the battlefield. This is the main thing. We will give away nothing. And we will fight for every meter of our land, and for every one of our people,” he said.

And right now, in the US, hundreds of thousands of drivers are complaining about rush hour traffic and/or how long the line is at their favorite latte provider.

That's it. It reminds me also the Oscars ceremony. The people seem to be more concerned about Will's "slap" in the face than about the fact that there were very little hints at the ceremony about Putin's aggression and massacre in Ukraine.

“There is nothing greater that the Academy Awards could do than to give Zelensky that opportunity to talk to all of us,” Penn told CNN.

"Penn suggested that if the Academy had “elected not to pursue the leadership in Ukraine, who are taking bullets and bombs for us, along with the Ukrainian children that they are trying to protect, then I think every single one of those people and every bit of that decision will have been the most obscene moment in all of Hollywood history."

And as someone has said out there about the Academy "people are literally being slaughtered and you literally chosen silence and passiveness."

This is the stuff of 3rd world warlords -

Ukrainian officials say humanitarian convoys were stopped and raided by Russian forces. Here's what we know

Russian forces said they will reopen the evacuation corridor from the besieged city of Mariupol to Zaporizhzhia on Friday. According to Ukrainian officials, the convoys ran into several issues on Thursday, including Russian troops confiscating aid and blocking buses.

Here's what we know:

  • The Russian Defense Ministry said the military will reopen the humanitarian corridor from the southern city of Mariupol to Zaporizhzhia on April 1 at the request of the leaders of France and Germany.
  • The corridor will open from 10 a.m. Moscow time and Russian troops will set up an intermediate point in the southern city of Berdiansk, the ministry said.
  • France said the evacuation corridor on Thursday was “insufficient” to allow rescue from Mariupol.
  • Ukrainian minister Iryna Vereshchuk said about 100,000 civilians remained trapped in the city, which has suffered weeks of bombardment from Russian forces.
  • The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is preparing to facilitate the safe passage of civilians from Mariupol.
"It is desperately important that this operation takes place. The lives of tens of thousands of people in Mariupol depend on it," the ICRC said.

Aid confiscated, buses stopped:

  • Russian forces on Thursday confiscated 14 tons of humanitarian aid from buses bound for Melitopol in southern Ukraine, according to Vereshchuk, the Ukrainian minister of reintegration of temporarily occupied territories.
  • Vereshchuk said the food and medication was loaded on 12 buses.
  • Russian forces also blocked 45 buses going to Berdiansk on Thursday en route to Mariupol, she added.

Video of the two Ukrainian Mi-24 helicopters striking the oil storage facility in Belgorod with rockets.

I was a little surprised by this action by Ukraine on the day that the peace talks and the evacuation of Mariupol by Red Cross were supposed to have gotten resumed again.

Perhaps like Russia the Ukrainian forces wanted to get a few last minute punches in before any peace agreements went into effect.

I hope this action won't have any adverse effects on the evacuation of Mariupol today.

I loved it and was great hearing the moans from the Russian side how it can hurt peace talks.

Attempted peace talks have resulted in Ukrainian delegates (and Abramovich) being poisoned and peace talks have resulted in things like Russia agreeing to humanitarian corridors but still targeting them anyway, so it’s great to hear the condemnation from the Russian side on this after everything they’ve done to Ukraine. Ukraine can now sit at the table, look right in the eyes of those the other side of the table in suits representing Putin and say 'we can hit you too' This attack on Russia, no one was hurt but Ukraine took the war to the other side for the first time.

Must be a great moral boost to hear about that if you was from Ukraine after every Russia have done, although it was only 20 miles over the border, it shows Ukraine are capable of identifying and hitting Russian targets on Russian soil which is going to be a blow to Russia’s military action in Ukraine (fuel and military equipment), respect to the brave Ukrainian pilots who carried out this strike.

There is nothing emotional about this move by Ukraine. They probably saw it as a strategic necessity to disrupt the fuel supply for the Russian forces that were on the attack in the Donbas region.

It's the timing of this action by Ukraine that makes me a little concerned since civilians were supposed to be evacuated from Mariupol today after so much delay and hindrance that the convoys had experienced before.

I never said it was an emotional move.

As for timing, what's the evaucation of civilians got to do with it?

EU – China summit currently underway to discuss the War between Ukraine and Russia.

China probably wants to go its own way about achieving peace in Ukraine and may not abide by all the sanctions that have been put on Russia by the West.

Everyone in the world knows Chernobyl is one of the most dangerous places on earth, why have Russian troops messing about there and digging trenches? :xf.confused:
Following on from the above post i made yesterday:-

So far Ukraine hasn't claimed responsibility for attacking the fuel depot inside Russia at Belgorod, there are some reports circulating that says Ukraine has actually denied making this attack.

It's interesting. If Ukraine did it, Russia is lying as they claim to have air superiority. If it's a false flag, Russia is lying just the same. False flag wouldn't make much sense imo, but it would be just as crazy as Ukraine being able to shell a depot on Russian soil. If true, that speaks volumes about the deplorable state the Russian army is in.

Crazy stuff, I'm sure there are people analyzing the videos. Didn't take too long to debunk those 'torture' videos.

Anyway, will it influence the negotiations? It's hard to negotiate with a pathological liar so probably not. I don't envy those trying to negotiate peace.

I watched Zelensky address our parliament earlier this week. Impressive guy. Well prepared, knows history and how it's repeating itself. Lots of respect for him. Knows exactly how the game is to be played. I can't really envision our PM being in the centre of a war zone addressing the world...

To be honest, can't really envision myself being at the centre of a war zone. That's why it's so important to me to support Ukraine wherever I can, so we don't have to be in that situation. And make no mistake, that's not just an EU issue. If Europe falls so will the rest of the 'West'.

OP-ED
Time to Double Down

The West fails to understand that Putin has been influenced by a “Rasputin-like” character named Aleksander Dugin, who believes that Russia belongs at the center of a New World Order because of its innate superiority. Called “Eurasianism”, Dugin’s ideas are creepily similar to Hitler’s “super race” lunacy complete with a desire for worldwide domination.

Putin’s other influence is an obscure Soviet-era ethnologist named Lev Gumilyov who believed in “passionarity” – a weird concept that Putin cited last year in a speech: “Russia has not reached its peak. We are on the march, on the march of development. … We have an infinite genetic code. It is based on the mixing of blood.”

Even worse, Putin has fused church and state, as did Russia’s Czars, and enlisted Patriarch Kirill, head of the Russian Orthodox Church, to assist this war effort. The cleric recently described military service as a “manifestation of evangelical love for neighbors.” This unseemly collaboration took on more importance when the Russian Orthodox Church lost supervisory control over the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in January 2019 after centuries in charge. Coincidentally, this occurred just before the election of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as Ukraine’s President, a liberal Ukrainian of Jewish descent who was elected to rid the country of corruption and Russian influence. It was the first unrigged election since independence in 1991.

When I first saw the video of the helicopters attacking russian oil depots, I thought it clearly could be a false flag. Or even a staged video, but I couldn't see Ukraine attacking a pair of oil depots in Russia's soil just to give Putler some reason to retaliate with bigger ammunition.
-------------------------------

Ukraine rejects Kremlin claim it sent helicopters to attack oil depot in Russia

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...-helicopter-attack-on-oil-depot-inside-russia

"Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of Ukraine’s national security council, denied responsibility for the attack. “For some reason, they say that we did it, but in fact this does not correspond with reality,” he said on Ukrainian television.

Earlier on Friday, the Ukrainian presidential aide Oleksiy Arestovych said: “We are holding defensive military operations on our own territory … Everything that happens on Russian territory is the responsibility of the Russian leadership. All questions to them.”

A number of prominent Ukrainian commentators have claimed that the attack could be a “false flag” meant to justify a Russian mobilisation or scuttle negotiations."
