I believe that President Biden was right when he said that Russia is going to Invade Ukraine.

Any intelligent person is going to come to the same conclusion knowing that Russia has already decided to pay any price imposed on it by the West through sanctions.

Short of full military confrontation by the West there is nothing that can make Russia to change its mind as they see this as a golden opportunity to resurrect the once powerful superpower that was equal to the USA.

But Russia’s ambitions are not going to stop with taking over Ukraine since it already has made plans to increase its sphere of influence to Asia, Middle East, and South America and perhaps the whole World knowing that the West is most likely not going to do anything beyond just imposing sanctions which ultimately will hurt the West itself by effecting the Global economy in an adverse way the longer that they go on.

I personally don’t like any of the old ideologies, philosophies, and doctrines of Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, Religious Fundamentalism and all the other “ism” that are derived from the bad human characteristics of Greed, Lust, Hate, Cruelty, Jealousy, Prejudice, and lack of Empathy and that have been infringing on our rights in one way or another throughout the history because they can only exist through supporting inequality, oppression, suppression, torture, killing, and War.

When it comes to saving the World the last thing that I want to see is the further expansion of these old systems that have all already proven to be a failure in dealing with the existential problems that are currently facing Humanity and the Environment.

We don’t want all these political, Religious, and Racial parties and groups to resurrect their past, we want something new that can propel the World into the next Era that is based on the Universal Principles and Values that have been derived through Logic and Compassion and not through Force and Violence.

By “We” I mean all the Intelligent, Righteous, and Peace loving people of the World.

IMO

A powerful video in the tweet below...

Imagine these were your cities…
Give us at least the fighter jets to defend our skies from 🇷🇺 maniac!#StandWithUkraine

Do they really need to imagine? Maybe just remember? Europe had the most vicious wars in history.

Looks like the US has rejected a Polish offer to send Soviet era jets to Ukraine, for the same reason NATO isn't joining the war, to avoid direct conflict with Russia..

Sounds like a good idea, for now..

Most alive during the last bombing they experienced, especially in Paris, have succumbed to old age...few, comparatively speaking, that could recall the horrors of war are still alive (those that were under 5 at the time likely have no memories at all).

Yeah obviously. But i'm just saying, they don't really need to imagine, footage, photos, witness accounts etc are still available in their archives.

This old woman survived the St. Petersburg siege by Hitler, and now the siege by the russian Hitler, Putin, in Kharkiv.
Mass murderers dictators behaving the same way and doing the same atrocities.

Woman who survived siege of Leningrad as a girl now trapped in Kharkiv

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...of-leningrad-as-a-girl-now-trapped-in-kharkiv

"Daughter-in-law speaks of her anger that Alevtina Shernina, 91, is ending her life as it began

Alevtina Shernina was a young girl when she survived the brutal siege of Leningrad during the second world war. Eight decades later, so frail she can barely talk, or move unassisted, she is besieged again.

And yet Shernina cannot flee, even to a bomb shelter. Her heart problems leave her too fragile to be carried down the flights of stairs to the basement when the air raid sirens sound.

She could communicate before Russia’s invasion but now is almost unresponsive, her daughter-in-law Natalia said.

She said she was in the kitchen pouring tea: “Then I opened the door, and I couldn’t understand what was going on. There was fire behind the window, and windows were shattering”.

Cold air now comes in through a window left damaged by the attack. Her face pale, her eyes closed, Shernina sits nearby in a blanket, an electric heater at her feet, a tabletop of medication beside her.

I feel inhuman anger from the fact that Alevtina began her life in Leningrad under the siege as a girl who was starving, who lived in cold and hunger, and she’s ending her life [in similar circumstances],” Natalia said.

She spoke bitterly of the Russian forces and compared them with the “fascists” who besieged Leningrad, now St Petersburg, for nearly 900 days so long ago.

“What sort of defenders are these?” she asked. “Who did they come to defend?"

I lived in Russia for 2 years, spent a couple of years in the baltics. Basically have spent time in almost every country in eastern Europe so I have a pretty good understanding of how the common people think/act.

You continue to shift the blame to the west. I can think of at least one certain person who is using exactly that narrative to justify what he's doing.

We in the west ain't saints, but Russia brought this upon themselves and Putin himself decided to set back the country for a decade, pre 1917.

There's no logic in that. There's no compassion for the common people in that. He's disregarding any universal principle shared by the world.

It's not just this war, he's been building towards this for decades. He has been losing support in the country for decades. Oppression and bringing terror to his own is what has been his MO for far to long.

He has a track record of using biological weapons, lying, burning cities to the ground, not having and regard for human life.

If you're against NATO, cool. Free to have your opinions and live in your own reality but stop the blame shifting as that narrative is exactly what has been fuelling Russia's aggression for decades.
Apparently you have misunderstood where I stand in this ordeal,

As a Human Rights and Environmental intellectual and activist my loyalties and concerns lie only for the Humanity and our Home planet.

My intentions are not political and as such I believe that all sides to this ordeal are equally responsible for creating this Humanitarian Catastrophe.

As an activist there is no way that I am approving of the current atrocities that are taking place in this conflict and as a person who has started this thread to analyze this situation I feel that it is perfectly justified for me to mention all the threats to Humanity and our Home Planet as I see them.

The fact that I have been critical of NATO does not mean that I am against them. I just want to point out that perhaps this situation could have been handled in a better way to calm things down a month ago.

As you can see things are escalating by the day to the point that we are now concerned about biological and chemical weapons being used on the ground.

I just don't want the wrong strategies to make this situation worse.

My position about NATO has been the same from the very beginning which is NATO should either fully support Ukrainians as if they were already a member of NATO or it should be willing to make some compromises to defuse the situation.

Please don't make any baseless accusations about me any more, because by attacking me you are attacking the Human Race as a whole and our Home Planet that I am and have been trying to protect and defend all along.

Biden calls for ending normal trade relations with Russia

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/wh...nding-normal-trade-relations-russia-rcna19660

"WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden on Friday called on Congress to join the European Union and the Group of Seven industrial nations in suspending normal trade relations with Russia, allowing new tariffs to be imposed in response to the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

In a speech, Biden said the U.S. will also ban imports of Russian diamonds, seafood and vodka, denying Moscow more than $1 billion in export revenues, according to a White House estimate.

"Putin is the aggressor," Biden said. "And Putin must pay a price."

Step by step this situation has been made to escalate from a month ago where no one would have believed that an invasion was going to take place in the civilized World that we live in in the year 2022,

Now the only logical and compassionate way is to try to deescalate and defuse this situation step by step and to make sure that it is not made worse by making the wrong decisions and moves.

That goes for all sides involved in this conflict.

As an activist, there's a time to pick sides. Just saying. Some Russians don't pick a side. Can they be held accountable? Just saying.

I'm not making baseless accusations. You're stating you believe both sides are equally responsible, literally....

Food crisis incoming: War in Ukraine threatening global food supplies, half a billion people at risk of hunger

Among those who will be the first victims of the disruption in the region will be around 474 million people living in the Middle East and North Africa who are the largest importers of Ukrainian and Russian food products. These countries include Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon, Yemen, Israel, Oman and other countries in North Africa and the Arab Gulf.

gallup-food-data.jpg

“We have highly productive soil, but also a climate that sets the rules,” wrote Ustenko. “there is already no way that Ukrainians will be able to sow this year based on a normal schedule. Those parts of Ukraine which are most productive in terms of agricultural production are now consistently under aerial attack and artillery bombardment.”

Ustenko noted that working the fields in the most productive northern and eastern oblasts (administrative regions) of Ukraine “has become practically impossible.”

“According to regional administrators, some of these fields are likely to be mined or contain unexploded ordnance,” continued Ustenko. He added that Ukrainian agricultural workers are ready to start their work, but before they can do so the fields they work will have to be cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance.

Unfortunately, Ustenko said many agricultural workers will be unable to work for some time due to the war requiring that they offer their services to the war effort.

I am sorry that I can't live up to your political expectations,

I am taking sides here, but not yours nor Russia's,

I am talking sides with Humanity and our Home Planet and as such I hold all parties who have and are contributing to creating and escalating this dangerous situation for the World equally responsible.

Nevertheless I respect your right to have your own opinion about this situation as long as you don't try to demean or silence alternative points of views to yours.

So you are welcomed to express your points of view here acording to the thread's rules just like everyone else, but please don't tell me what I should or should not say here because I consider myself a free spirit with no political loyalties or affiliations to anyone.

I am not about politics, my agenda is to protect Humanity and our Home Planet from all who may want to cause it harm.

Anyone who is working towards Peace and who wants to protect the future of the World is considered to be a Force For Good by me,

I believe that all those others who just want to advance their own agendas and interests at the expense of sacrificing the lives of thousands or even millions of people around the World are committing crimes against Humanity and our Home Planet regardless of which side they are on.

This is my last response regarding this matter, so please don't try to put words in my mouth that I never meant to say. Take your focus off me and just give us your analysis and assessment of this situation.

Believe it or not as an impartial observer I value what you and everyone else has to say about how to deescalate and defuse this dangerous situation that our World is in now.

I'll honour your request and this will be my last response to your regarding this matter. It's unfortunate those who have the best intentions towards earth and humanity choose to remain silent when it matters most.

Looks like communist china is starting to back peddle...they are afraid of losing too much business from the west.

Massive shift in language from Beijing tonight. Real alarm evident from their surrogates on UK tv. (Screenshot from @Channel4 - doubt this is an accidental choice of tie) Clear they now think that Putin has overreached and are tacking away from him.#StandWithUkraine 🇺🇦

A month ago:

China, Russia partner up against West at Olympics summit

BEIJING/ MOSCOW/WASHINGTON, Feb 4 (Reuters) - China and Russia on the opening day of the Winter Olympics declared a "no limits" partnership, backing each other over standoffs on Ukraine and Taiwan with a promise to collaborate more against the West.

President Xi Jinping hosted President Vladimir Putin on Friday as the two nations said their relationship was superior to any Cold War era alliance and they would work together on space, climate change, artificial intelligence and control of the internet.

Beijing supported Russia's demand that Ukraine should not be admitted into NATO, as the Kremlin amasses 100,000 troops near its neighbour, while Moscow opposed any form of independence for Taiwan, as global powers jostle over their spheres of influence.

"Friendship between the two States has no limits, there are no 'forbidden' areas of cooperation," the two countries said in a joint statement.

The timing of their announcement was highly symbolic, at a China-hosted Olympics that the United States has subjected to a diplomatic boycott.

The agreement marked the most detailed and assertive statement of Russian and Chinese resolve to work together to build a new international order based on their view of human rights and democracy. ......

Moscow denies it is planning an invasion of Ukraine. .....

Scott Kennedy, a China expert at Washington's Center for Strategic and International Studies, said that despite the rhetoric, there would be limits to the alliance.

"China is willing to stand with Russia through thin but not thick," he said. "If a war breaks out over Ukraine or Taiwan, we can expect this partnership to fracture."

Putin's so-called 'military operation' is not 'war', but rather 'state-sponsored terrorism'.

Despite sanctions imposed, Russia now recruiting foreign fighters in response to Ukraine foreign legion.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said there were 16,000 volunteers ready to fight alongside Russia-backed forces.

Putin: "If you see that there are these people who want of their own accord, not for money, to come to help the people living in Donbas, then we need to give them what they want and help them get to the conflict zone."

Zelensky: "Murderous thugs from Syria would be coming to kill people "in a foreign land".

One site promises payments of $3,000 a month, which is nearly 50 times a Syrian soldier’s monthly salary.

I think this would speak volumes to citizens in Russia if they could get the news about this development.

There are supposedly two plane loads (not sure what capacity) in the air right now based on what others are saying. After I get off of a call I am going to see if I can figure out where and what they are.

I'm sure all that information is known to those that matter...who knows, they might encounter some mid flight turbulence.
