I believe that President Biden was right when he said that Russia is going to Invade Ukraine.

Any intelligent person is going to come to the same conclusion knowing that Russia has already decided to pay any price imposed on it by the West through sanctions.

Short of full military confrontation by the West there is nothing that can make Russia to change its mind as they see this as a golden opportunity to resurrect the once powerful superpower that was equal to the USA.

But Russia’s ambitions are not going to stop with taking over Ukraine since it already has made plans to increase its sphere of influence to Asia, Middle East, and South America and perhaps the whole World knowing that the West is most likely not going to do anything beyond just imposing sanctions which ultimately will hurt the West itself by effecting the Global economy in an adverse way the longer that they go on.

I personally don’t like any of the old ideologies, philosophies, and doctrines of Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, Religious Fundamentalism and all the other “ism” that are derived from the bad human characteristics of Greed, Lust, Hate, Cruelty, Jealousy, Prejudice, and lack of Empathy and that have been infringing on our rights in one way or another throughout the history because they can only exist through supporting inequality, oppression, suppression, torture, killing, and War.

When it comes to saving the World the last thing that I want to see is the further expansion of these old systems that have all already proven to be a failure in dealing with the existential problems that are currently facing Humanity and the Environment.

We don’t want all these political, Religious, and Racial parties and groups to resurrect their past, we want something new that can propel the World into the next Era that is based on the Universal Principles and Values that have been derived through Logic and Compassion and not through Force and Violence.

By “We” I mean all the Intelligent, Righteous, and Peace loving people of the World.

Russia is not going to back off at this point,

Unfortunately Ceasefire and Peace at this time is not in Russia's advantage as it only going to bring War crime trials and perhaps even a regime change for them by the West.

The only way that they can survive is by escalating this situation to much higher levels.

I am surprised that I am the only one that can see this.

IMO
Disagree with that, how can they survive by escalating?

The only way Putin can survive if he agrees some kind of deal that he can take back home and say the military operation was a sucess.

Due to sanctions and funding a war, the whole operation in Ukraine unsustanable (medium/long term), Russia need a deal just as much as Ukraine, if not more.

If Ukraine say 'no deal no matter what' you watch Russia pull out within 2 months anyway, the whole tactic then will be blaming the west for everything (funding Ukraine etc), but what are they going to do about it? They'll have no money to threaten anyone else (let alone NATO) and still have sanctions strangling them.

Only thing Russia can do to end sanctions is oust Putin and sooner or later people in the Kremlin will know that.

I think NATO knows this.

Hope wiser heads prevail.
This is like a chess game where you have to be able to anticipate your opponent's moves ahead of time in order to win,

NATO missed the opportunity to calm things down a month ago by meeting Russia half way on their security concerns,

Then again NATO failed to anticipate the unfolding humanitarian catastrophe that we are seeing now,

Unfortunately NATO again is failing to see that putting Russia in a corner by subjecting it to the kind of sanctions that are designed to destroy its economy is going to make Russia take this conflict to a whole new level.

Yup. Let's blame NATO. That'll teach Putin.

We are not dealing with just one person here, this is about the Russian people's ideologies that are very dear to them to the point that they rather die in a shoot out with NATO than surrender to the ideologies of the West (a big portion of the Russian population that is that are in control, mainly the older generations).

What are Russian ideologies though that is very dear to them, imperialism?

No one is asking Russia to change culturally, just respect other nations independence and freewill.

If imperialism and genocide is dear to them, no other country wants that so enjoy sanctions, so they can't do that shit to any nation and if any Russian people don't like it, leave, it's 2022 and a free world and that is what we are fighting for.

As I have been saying all along the only way out of this situation is if all sides are willing to abandon all their old ideologies and try to find common grounds over the Universal Principles and Values that are derived through Logic and Compassion (but that might be a long shot at this point).

Romney: 'Makes no sense' to keep Soviet jets from going to Ukraine

“I simply do not understand the logic for not getting the MiGs to the Ukrainians immediately.” Romney said at a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Thursday. “It makes no sense.”

The comments come a day after the United States rejected an offer from Poland on Wednesday to transfer its Soviet era MiG-29 fighter jets to bolster Ukraine's air force.

The Utah Republican acknowledged concerns about Russian President Vladimir Putin further escalating the war, but insisted "it’s time for him to be fearful of what we might do."

"This is war, people are dying, we need to get this aircraft immediately to the people of Ukraine," he said.

The criminal Putin is besieging Mariupol just like Hitler did with St. Petersburg. Same war crimes, same war criminal. The Russian Hitler wants to starve the thousands of civilians in Mariupol. A genocide is happening right now in front of the eyes of the world.
Constantly bombing and killing civilians while cutting off water, electricity, heat and food supply. The russian Hitler has to be very criminal and coward to perform this war crimes against innocent people.

----------------------------

Conditions in Mariupol now ‘medieval’

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...ed-conditions-mariupol-siege-medieval-ukraine

"Under constant bombardment, without power or water, and unable to collect the dead from the streets, residents of the besieged Ukrainian port are focused solely on survival.

...It was “frosty outside and fiercely cold” inside Mariupol’s apartments, which are without heat. There was – as she put it – “no bitch snow, which means there will be no water”. Earlier in the week the city’s residents collected snow to drink. Without running water, Timchenko said, she was struggling to feed her family. “Tell me, is it possible to bake an egg in foil? I have six of them lying around. Kids would have had their breakfast,” she wrote.

Petro Andriushchenko, a member of Mariupol’s council, said genocide was still happening. The city was under “constant shelling” from Russian artillery, he said: from Grad and Smerch rockets and Tochka-U missiles. On Thursday missiles pulverised another residential district, clawing holes out of several buildings.

The city was without electricity, heat, drinking water and gas, he added, saying the Russian Federation was effectively holding 350,000 people hostage.

With bodies lying on the streets – it is too dangerous to collect them – the precise death-toll was unknowable. Andriushchenko said 1,200 people had perished “by rough calculations”. “We don’t know the exact number of people under the debris,” he explained. “The Russian army attacks directly so we can’t gather the dead or evacuate the wounded. All the hospitals are full. We have 2,500 beds.” A mass grave had been dug on the city’s outskirts, he said.

For the sixth day in a row, the evacuation of Mariupol’s civilians failed to happen. Andriushchenko said Russian aircraft were deliberately targeting the road where buses were meant to collect people to take them to safety and to Ukrainian-controlled territory. “Airstrikes started from the early morning. Airstrike after airstrike. All the historic centre is under bombardment,” he said, adding that the city was home to around 50,000 children and 3,000 babies.

are not dealing with just one person here

As hard as it is to understand for some, we are actually dealing with one guy here + a very small circle of his fellowship and some oligarchs.

If that's your view of the Russian people that's quite a prejudiced one.

There are lots of cultural differences between us, just like there are many cultural differences between us and the Ukrainian. In my experience the majority of Russian people just want to live their lives in freedom and peace like any one of us.

I hope we will not end up condemning an entire country's population just because of the aggression of its dictator.

It took us decades to forgive the Germans... We should have learned from that.

No doubt about that.

Without the backing from a large base of supporters amongst the general population no leader can remain in power ( whether dictator or not).

Their idea of freedom might be completely different than what you consider to be freedom in the West specially when it comes to the older generations.

The problem is that you and a lot of other people here only see this situation from the angle of a Westerner that has grown up with Western Principles and Values,

It's hard for people such as yourself to believe that other Countries around the World might have their own version of Principles and Values that are as important to them which in some cases might be totally different than what you have been brought up to believe in.

For the past several years I have been trying to encourage everyone to try to find common grounds over the Universal Principles and Values that are based on Logic and Compassion and that we all can believe in as the human race.

But unfortunately the World has chosen the path of War over that which was based on Logic and Compassion.

And yes I know that Russia is the aggressor here, but NATO has had a big hand in bringing us to where we are too by not choosing the path of Logic and Compassion to defuse this situation when it had the opportunity to do so.

These brands are still advertising on Russian state TV despite the Kremlin‘s war on Ukraine.

These ads are funding Putin’s propaganda machine. #StopRussianAggression#RussiaInvadedUkraine @Boycott_RU

That's the ministry of foreign affairs? But you know, yes many are leaving now, many are doing it because it's bad for business, some are doing it because they stick to values, but some won't do it.

Just a reminder, at least politically, there are powers/countries etc, that are not shunning Russia like others, some don't have an interest in doing so, some don't care, some are playing "double agent" & like that..

This kind of puts into perspective how small the Russian economy is, and what the sanctions have already done.

Now, with foreign sanctions presiding over a plummeting Russian ruble, Russia’s economic standing has fallen further still. If measured at today’s exchange rates, Russia’s economy would be the 22nd largest in the world, with a gross domestic product (GDP) — not much larger than the state of Ohio’s.

That is not necessarily true. Many dictators remain in power for decades while being highly unpopular with the people.

It can be extremely hard to replace authoritarian leaders surrounded by a very loyal elite class.
